Chapter 47 Battle of Wits
Lu Yanhe's expression was so serious and solemn that Liu Qin forgot to reprimand Li Pengfei immediately, and instead asked, "What situation do you want to report?"
Lu Yanhe said, "Luo Zicheng just verbally insulted me in front of the whole class and spread rumors about me and another female classmate, causing me great harm. Li Pengfei couldn't stand it and bravely punched him. So, I am reporting this situation to you."
Liu Qin: "..."
Other students occasionally passed by in the corridor, all of them casting curious glances their way.
Lu Yanhe stood in front of Liu Qin, a head taller than the homeroom teacher who was wearing high heels. His expression was as calm as the handsome male protagonists in youth movies, like a pair of eyes in a sketch that were neither sad nor happy, but had a sense of certainty.
Liu Qin sighed and said, "Come to my office with him."
-
"Who? Who hit my son?!"
A woman with short, permed hair and heavy makeup suddenly pushed open the door and stormed in angrily. Like a wrathful demon, the first thing she did upon entering was to scan everyone in Liu Qin's office.
When she saw Luo Zicheng's huge, shiny panda eyes, she suddenly screamed. It seemed that the situation was more serious than she had expected.
"Son! You, you—who hit you!" Luo Zicheng's mother screamed in anguish. Before Luo Zicheng could answer, she immediately turned angrily to Liu Qin, "Teacher Liu, why was my son so badly injured at school?"
Just as Liu Qin was about to explain, the door was pushed open again with a "bang".
"Li Pengfei, you brat, you're asking for it, aren't you!"
A man in a suit and tie, with a rather dashing appearance, rushed in, looking furious, and holding a broom that he had somehow managed to steal.
"You come here!" he roared, pointing at Li Pengfei.
Li Pengfei quickly stood behind Lu Yanhe: "Brother, don't let him get close to me!"
Lu Yanhe: "..."
Just as Ms. Li Fengying was about to lash out, she was interrupted by another man. Confused, she watched him yell and then her mind raced. Combining the situation with what he said, she immediately realized that this was the father of the person who was responsible for her son's injury!
"I say, parent, so it was your son who punched my son!" Ms. Li Fengying has never been called kind-hearted or beautiful since she was a child, and she has never considered herself a kind person. "Look at my son now, your son committed a violent crime!"
Li Luzhi immediately put on a smile and said, "Sorry, sorry, this brat just needed to be taught a lesson. Oh dear, he really suffered, Xiao Tang!"
A young man in a black suit immediately pushed open the door and came in. "Mr. Li, what can I do for you?"
"Take this student to the hospital for a check-up right away. Go to the Seventh Hospital and see Dr. Chen." Li Luzhi pointed at Luo Zicheng and said, "It breaks my heart to see him like this! Li Pengfei, you're so reckless! Are you trying to drive me crazy? We're both parents, how heartbroken this student's mother must be!"
Li Fengying was momentarily stunned. Before coming, she was fully prepared to give the other party a severe beating, but the parent turned out to be quite different from what she had imagined. The parent apologized so quickly and immediately called for someone to take her son to the hospital for a checkup, leaving Li Fengying speechless with anger.
Seeing that his mother suddenly fell silent, Luo Zicheng panicked and immediately said, "Mom, this isn't about whether or not to do a self-criticism. Li Pengfei hit me; that's a violation of school rules and regulations. He absolutely has to get a demerit, Mom!"
Li Fengying suddenly realized that she had been fooled.
She rallied her spirits and glared angrily at Li Luzhi: "Parent, don't try to fool us here. This matter can't be left like this! It's right that you took my son to the hospital for a checkup, but besides the checkup, your son's violent assault on his classmate is too serious and must be severely punished! Teacher Liu, is my request too much?"
Liu Qin said, "Both parents, you rushed into my office without giving me a chance to speak. Can you calm down and let me tell you what happened?"
Li Luzhi acted very obediently, gave Xiao Tang a look, and Xiao Tang immediately turned around and left the office.
Upon seeing this, Li Fengying wanted to ask him if he wasn't going to take his son to the hospital for a checkup.
But she herself delayed this matter, so it's not good to bring it up again.
"Regarding this matter, besides students Luo Zicheng and Li Pengfei, another student is also involved, Lu Yanhe." Liu Qin glanced at the boy who had been pulled in front of Li Pengfei.
Li Fengying had been raging the whole time, but now she finally gave Lu Yanhe a serious look.
This boy is quite handsome.
Li Fengying took another look.
"Before you arrived, I had already asked the other students in the class what the situation was, so everything I'm about to say has been verified." After saying this, Liu Qin glanced at Li Fengying.
This glance made Li Fengying's heart inexplicably pound.
Liu Qin, the homeroom teacher, was utterly unyielding. Her son was in this class, and she had always hoped that Liu Qin would give him more attention, especially in his senior year of high school, the most crucial time, as a little extra care from the teacher could potentially lead to higher scores. However, no matter how hard she and Luo Zicheng's father tried—whether it was openly or covertly offering bribes, or using all sorts of connections—they couldn't get anything into Liu Qin's hands.
“Parents, your children are in my class, and I will definitely discipline them diligently. There’s no need for these things. I don’t need them, and I never accept them. Besides, the Education Bureau is very strict now, and the school has given a firm order that we absolutely will not accept them.”
"Teacher Liu, it's just a small token of my appreciation. Don't worry, there's no one else here, so who would know?"
"Thank you for your kindness, but I simply won't accept it."
Such conversations have occurred no less than five times.
Liu Qin was like a block of wood, completely unyielding.
In fact, Li Fengying had always been somewhat intimidated by Liu Qin. Liu Qin possessed an undeniable aura; a seasoned homeroom teacher who had taught over ten graduating classes, consistently achieving exceptionally high results. However, what truly dreaded Li Fengying was a phone call her husband received one evening from a superior, who instructed them to cease all contact with Liu Qin.
This made them secretly wonder if Liu Qin refused these gifts because she herself was someone of great importance and looked down on them.
Unbeknownst to them, this call was made by a parent of a student Liu Qin had previously tutored. That parent also worked within the system and held a significant leadership position. It wasn't that Liu Qin herself had any connections.
