Chapter 7 We're Professionals at Insulting

Chapter 7 We're Professionals at Insulting

When Yan Liang returned from the restroom, he winked and lowered his voice, asking, "Guess who I saw?"

"Who? Luna?" Li Zhi asked, "Damn, I hope it's really her, otherwise she'll get photographed again and then get yelled at by her bunch of crazy fans."

Yan Liang gestured for Li Zhibai to lower his voice and said, "No, it's Officer Qiu Ling, whom we just met. She's sitting right next to us."

He gestured towards the green plants.

"Oh." Li Zhibai immediately craned his neck to look, hoping to confirm it through the gaps in the greenery.

Yan Liang quickly went to pull him up.

"You're too blatant! She's in the restroom right now, and there's someone sitting at that table, a guy, who looks like her boyfriend."

Lu Yanhe said, "She just said she made an appointment with someone, so I guess it's this person."

Just then, they heard Officer Qiu Ling's voice coming from next door.

"Excuse me."

"No, did you not sleep well last night?" the man asked.

Qiu Ling: "Yes, I was on night shift yesterday."

"Sigh, that's the downside of being a policeman, the work pressure is too great," the man said.

"Yes, I'm really sorry, it was revised twice before we finally met today," Officer Qiu Ling said in an elegant and gentle voice.

"Ah, it's nothing. It's just a task my family assigned me anyway," the man said. "Actually, I told my family a long time ago that I would never marry a policewoman, but they kept insisting that I come and meet you. Ms. Qiu, you are very beautiful. I don't understand why someone as beautiful as you would want to become a policewoman."

Lu Yanhe and the other two looked at each other in bewilderment.

Neither of them expected it to be a blind date.

Moreover, the way that man spoke... sounded even less intelligent than Li Zhibai.

The man's tone carried a deliberately concealed arrogance, as if he had no intention of wasting time with Qiu Ling here, and was only sitting here reluctantly for some reason.

After hearing his question, Qiu Ling remained silent for a long time.

"Was my question too abrupt?" the man asked.

Qiu Ling chuckled dryly and said, "Hehe, no, I just didn't know how to answer for a moment."

"Um?"

"Being beautiful and being a police officer shouldn't be mutually exclusive, right?"

"Haha, I just think that a beautiful woman like Miss Qiu could live a more comfortable life more easily. To be honest, my family has introduced me to many outstanding women, but Miss Qiu is the one who best matches my aesthetic. If it weren't for your profession, I would definitely be willing to pursue you."

Qiu Ling almost couldn't suppress the anger in her heart.

She really wanted to rush up to her parents and demand to know where they had found such an arrogant man.

She suppressed her temper, forced a smile, and said, "Anyway, it's just a task assigned by my family. Whether I meet your aesthetic standards or not is not important. Mr. Chen is so outstanding, he won't have trouble finding a suitable one."

Mr. Chen asked, “Ms. Qiu, if I may be so bold as to ask, if I were willing to marry you, would you be willing to resign from your job as a police officer? Don’t worry, my income is more than enough to support a family, so there’s absolutely no need to worry about money. Your family should have told you that I started my own business, a small company, and have tens of millions in assets.”

Qiu Ling smoothed her hair and tucked the hair behind her ears.

“Mr. Chen, work is not just about earning an income,” Qiu Ling said. “Like you said, if I wanted a higher income, why would I have chosen to be a police officer? Actually, Mr. Chen doesn’t need to force himself. Since we’re not a good match, why not just leave it at that?”

She simply couldn't endure it any longer.

Mr. Chen smiled and said, "So, Miss Qiu still holds onto ideals and passions?"

Qiu Ling could no longer maintain her smile.

She wiped the smile from her face, looked at the man opposite her, and asked, "Is that not allowed?"

"I thought this was just a thought that only seventeen or eighteen-year-olds would have. If someone is almost thirty years old and still lives in this world with such naive ideas, then it seems rather childish."

The other person's face already showed obvious mockery.

Qiu Ling repeatedly told herself to control herself and not to take action, otherwise it would affect her own career.

As she was about to get up and leave with a cold expression, suddenly, several loud, teenage voices came from next door.

She recognized those voices.

I just heard of it.

Li Zhibai: "Hahahaha, that's hilarious. Some people have tens of millions in assets and they dare to talk about it? Is that enough to support a family? It's a good thing they didn't raise a son like me, otherwise, I could bankrupt him in a year."

Yan Liang: "I hate people like you who are pretentious. It's one thing for you to have a big mouth, but it's even more annoying when people in their thirties or forties are pretentious. They keep saying how naive others are. Even though they are so mature, they still can't control their mouths. They can't say anything nice."

Lu Yanhe: "You two, keep your voices down! Just because someone doesn't have a good brain or a good mouth doesn't mean they don't have ears!"

Qiu Ling's anger dissipated completely after hearing the three teenagers' comedic dialogue.

She couldn't help but curl the corners of her mouth into a smile.

Mr. Chen from the other side turned green.

He stood up angrily, "Who are you talking about?"

"Whoever answers first, that's who they're talking about," Li Zhi retorted.

"You little brat, you need to be taught a lesson!" Mr. Chen was about to rush over in a rage.

Qiu Ling suddenly slammed her hand on the table.

Her elegant, intellectual, and gentle demeanor vanished completely at this moment, replaced by a serious glint in her eyes.

“Mr. Chen, are you going to start a fight in front of me, a police officer? I don’t mind taking you to the nearest police station.”

Mr. Chen paused, looking at Qiu Ling with a grim expression.

Qiu Ling had previously only wanted to avoid conflict with him, hoping to part ways amicably no matter what. But now, she didn't care anymore. Her face was stern, her eyes were cold, and an imposing aura emanated from her, creating a powerful and irresistible presence.

Everyone around turned to look at them.

Under Qiu Ling's piercing gaze, Mr. Chen finally just gave a weak but intimidating snort, picked up his coat, and left with an unfriendly expression.

Qiu Ling watched him leave and rush out the door before calmly withdrawing her gaze. As a result, three teenagers had already popped their heads out from next door, standing like a row of radishes above the green plants, looking down at her.

"Officer Qiu, your blind date isn't very good quality," Li Zhibai said.

"Your thoughts are so cheesy, and you even blurted them out without thinking. Are you trying to manipulate me?" Yan Liang said.

Lu Yanhe nodded and said seriously, "It's fortunate that you met us."

Qiu Ling originally wanted to give them a serious scolding, but seeing their righteous and stern expressions, she couldn't help but laugh.

“Go to hell!” she said.
