Chapter 714 Enlightenment

Chapter 714 Enlightenment

Zhou Yuchang was suddenly stared at by a stranger, and her body subconsciously tensed up.

Tang Ning seemed not to notice and just smiled and said, "Her name is A Chang. She is a friend of A Yue and me, and she can be considered A Ru's sister."

When Aunt Rui heard this, a friendly expression immediately appeared on her face. After letting go of Tang Ning, she stepped forward and took Zhou Yuchang's arm in hand in a very familiar manner: "I was wondering where this little fairy came from. It seems that all the pretty girls are playing together. Look at this pretty face, she is really lovable."

Zhou Yuchang was startled by someone suddenly approaching her and was at a loss: "I..."

"Don't be afraid, I'm not a bad person. Ah Yue and Ah Ning come here often, but this is the first time they've seen you. I'll call you Ah Chang, okay? You can just follow Ah Ning and call me Aunt Rui."

Aunt Rui is a nonchalant person, but she can be scary when she gets enthusiastic.

Zhou Yuchang became more and more at a loss. She subconsciously looked at Tang Ning for help, but Tang Ning just smiled and said, "Aunt Rui likes you." Then she rubbed her hands and said, "Aunt Rui, it's cold outside. Let's go in first."

"Yes, yes, yes, go in quickly, don't let you little darlings get cold."

Aunt Rui carried the basket and pulled Zhou Yuchang inside, with Tang Ning following behind.

When the gate is opened, what comes into view is a very spacious courtyard.

Aunt Rui kept talking to Zhou Yuchang, and even though Zhou Yuchang was a little flustered and uncomfortable, the upbringing she received since childhood made her unable to ignore others. She could only reluctantly say a few words in response and could not lose her temper at strangers. She was pulled into the yard with a stiff body.

There was a lot of unmelted snow piled in the yard. A group of children were playing outside. As soon as they came in, a snowball flew towards their faces.

Aunt Rui, as usual, stretched out her hand to block the snowball, shielding Zhou Yuchang behind her. Then, looking at the scattered snowballs on the ground, she put her hands on her hips and said, "Which little bastard is being naughty again? How many times have I told you not to throw snowballs outside? If someone gets hurt, you won't be able to afford the compensation even if you sell them!"

The children in the yard stood in a row and burst into laughter when they heard this.

"Still laughing, be careful of being caught by wild wolves and eaten!"

"Aunt Rui is scaring people again. Sister Aru said there are no wolves in this city."

“That’s right!”

"Aunt Rui is lying!"

Aunt Rui pinched her waist and said, "It's just bullshit. I think you guys are just itching for trouble again!"

The group of children were not afraid of Aunt Rui at all, and they were laughing and giggling. Someone noticed Tang Ning coming in from behind and was immediately surprised: "Sister Ning!"

The other children also gathered around happily.

"Sister Ning, you haven't been here for a long time."

"Sister Ning, we haven't finished our last story yet. When will you continue?"

"Sister Ning, I've been very well behaved recently and can even recognize words."

"Sister Ning, you haven't been here for so long, have you forgotten us..."

A group of children chattered and surrounded Tang Ning with bright smiles on their faces.

Tang Ning didn't mind their messy appearance. She touched one's face and patted the other's head, her face full of smiles: "Sister Ning has been a little busy recently. Grandma is sick again at home, and Sister Ning has to accompany her, so she didn't come to see you."

"Have you been good recently? Have you listened to Aunt Rui and Grandma Liu?"

A group of children said in unison: "We are good!"

Aunt Rui laughed and scolded them, "Be good, you bullshit! They are just naughty monkeys. If they don't get a beating for a day, they will want to break the roof and tear down the tiles. It's only because you are here that these little devils will act like spoiled brats in front of you!"

She stepped forward and pushed people aside like pulling radishes, "dig" Tang Ning out from among the children. Then she pinched the cheek of the child closest to her and said, "You are all covered in mud. Go wash up quickly. Sister Ning is coming over today, and we will make dumplings for her."

"Wow! Eat dumplings!"

The yard was suddenly filled with joy, with children laughing happily.

"Grandma Liu, we're having dumplings today!"

A hunched old man came out of a house not far away: "Okay, okay, eat your dumplings. Go wash up quickly, or watch out for Aunt Rui spanking you."

A group of children ran away laughing wildly.

Grandma Liu is an elderly widow living alone in the neighborhood. Her husband died when she was young, and her son and daughter-in-law died when she was old. This courtyard originally belonged to the Liu family, and was later bought by Tang Ning and her friends. Seeing that it was difficult for Grandma Liu to live alone, they asked someone to stay and take care of the children with Aunt Rui.

She was only fifty years old, but her hair was already completely white. When she saw Tang Ning, she smiled and said, "Aning is here."

Tang Ning came forward with a smile: "I came to see you guys. How are you feeling lately? Are you still taking your medicine? Don't be lazy and not take your medicine."

"I'm taking it, taking it. It's such an expensive medicine, I can't bear to give it up." Grandma Liu smiled happily, "You're so worried at such a young age. How can an old woman like me not worry about it myself? But you, why haven't you come for so long? You look so thin."

Grandma Liu didn't know Tang Ning's identity, and Aunt Rui had never mentioned it to her, so she only vaguely knew that she was the daughter of a wealthy family.

Seeing her asking, Aunt Rui smiled and said, "Something happened at Aning's house. Didn't Aru tell you before? Okay, Aunt Liu, it's rare for Aning to bring friends over. Go and mix some dough. We'll make dumplings for lunch." She took the plum blossoms and handed the basket to Grandma Liu. "There's meat in here. Put it aside first. I'll chop the stuffing later."

Grandma Liu smiled and said, "Okay!"

Jishan Hall became particularly lively because of the arrival of Tang Ning and the others.

The sounds of chattering children filled the air, accompanied by Aunt Rui's enthusiastic and smiling words. Zhou Yuchang felt a little overwhelmed as she looked at Tang Ning, who looked relaxed. The happiness of the children, Aunt Rui's enthusiasm, the cheers and excitement that could be exchanged for a meal of dumplings, and Tang Ning's comfort in this dilapidated courtyard all made her feel extremely unfamiliar.

But for some reason, her mind, which had been tense for a while, gradually relaxed, and even the nightmares that haunted her from time to time seemed to have dissipated.

No one would care about what she had been through, no one would ask if she was okay, and no one would look at her with such caution as if she were looking at fragile porcelain.

When Aunt Rui took Tang Ning and a group of children to make bread dumplings, Zhou Yuchang was also pulled over. She was very uncomfortable at first, but after listening to the chattering in her ears and Aunt Rui talking about the children in the yard, she gradually relaxed. However, she had never cooked before, so she was particularly unfamiliar with making dumplings.

The dumpling filling only has a thin layer of meat, and most of it is drained cabbage. Due to the lack of oil and water, the filling is barely formed.

If the skin is too thick, it cannot cover it; if the skin is too thin, it will break if pulled.

Zhou Yuchang, who was always smart, fumbled for a long time before she made a particularly ugly dumpling. The belly of the dumpling was broken, as if grinning at her. Broken vegetable leaves fell out if she squeezed it a little.
