Chapter 125 of 10078 New Urban Farmers: Someone's Interfering with the Marriage? (Two chapters completed)
Zhang Guodong wasn't familiar with the place, so his older brother took him to a Dongfeng dealership. He found a Peugeot sedan he liked, priced at 130,000 yuan, which wasn't too expensive. Zhang Guodong thought it looked good and decided to go for it.
Down.
Once the purchase and "convenient service" procedures are completed, the car can be picked up immediately. The other mandatory procedures will be handled at the vehicle management office later.
"Perfect timing, my old driver's license comes in handy!" Zhang Guozheng said excitedly. "But second brother, how much money have you actually made? Mom and Dad say your vegetable and seafood shop is doing very well."
When the two brothers were together, Zhang Guozheng finally asked the question. He'd been wanting to ask this for a long time: "The vegetable and seafood shop is indeed profitable. But surely it can't earn that much? Yet this one is making tens of thousands, which is quite surprising."
He was worried that Zhang Guodong would take shortcuts or stray from the right path.
Touched, Zhang Guodong smiled and said, "Don't worry. With my intelligence, would I need to do illegal things to make money? You can use this money without worry; it'll all be clean!"
"That's good!" Zhang Guozheng said with a sigh of relief.
“But if you’re looking at apartments tomorrow or the day after, why don’t you look at two at once? Parents can stay here when they come to visit. The environment here is definitely much better than in the provincial capital!” Zhang Guodong added.
It doesn't matter whether the apartment is under the eldest brother's name, the third brother's name, or your own. The main purpose is for your parents to live in.
“Yes, I had the same idea!” Zhang Guozheng nodded after giving Zhang Guodong a deep look.
"Let's walk over there, haha, let's test drive the car. It's been a long time since I've driven, I don't know if I've forgotten how."
The two brothers walked over, but their parents and Huang's parents were very skeptical that the older brother could really drive. They didn't dare to get in and called a taxi instead.
Zhang Guodong chuckled to himself, as he also doubted whether his older brother could drive. However, he was much bolder now and took the initiative to sit in the back seat while his sister-in-law sat in the front passenger seat.
The two vehicles headed towards Dinosaur Village.
Dinosaur Village lives up to its name. It's one of the major dinosaur fossil sites in China. It also houses Asia's largest dinosaur museum.
The Tianfu Emei Dragon, Jianshe Qi Dragon, Shu Dragon, Duochi Yandu Dragon, Jianlong Taibai Huayang Dragon, Plesiosaur, and many others have all appeared here.
This place is a world-renowned dinosaur fossil site and a bustling tourist attraction!
Mysterious dinosaur fossils from different eras of Earth. All of this attracts a large number of tourists every year, so it's not as remote and deserted as most rural areas.
It was actually quite lively!
Entering the village felt like arriving in a county town, but a green one at that—sunny, with clear air and picturesque scenery. Tourist buses could be seen coming and going frequently.
"This is Dinosaur Village? It's a beautiful place!" This was Zhang Guodong's first time visiting another province and seeing an environment so different from the climate in the north. The impact was profound.
I wonder if the places in Hainan that Li Ningguang described are any different? But the heat of coastal cities is definitely a major characteristic.
"Yes, that's the building in our village, the largest dinosaur museum in Asia. It has a huge variety of dinosaurs, and there's a dinosaur mountain range there—it's all primeval jungle from a very ancient era. Dinosaur fossils were discovered in this area!" said Sister-in-law Huang Yi. (Please don't nitpick, Tiandao has combined the geographical locations. But it's a fact that there are three of the world's largest dinosaur museums there; it's just that the geographical locations and museum names have been changed, hehe.)
You can tell he's very proud!
Zhang Guodong nodded and looked down the mountain again. He saw rows of paddy fields; the villagers farmed and raised livestock. In the past, every year during the Spring Festival, the Zhang family would receive sausages and smoked meat, or spicy rabbit and smoked duck prepared by the Huang family—all from animals raised by the Huang family themselves.
Basically, every household here raises livestock. However, most of these livestock are raised for their own consumption and are not sold to the public.
The car passed a stone arch bridge, where a river appeared, about ten meters wide. The river water was clear but not shallow.
There were quite a few people fishing by the stream. Some of them seemed to be tourists?
Zhang Guodong's eyes lit up and he asked, "Where does this river flow from? Are there fish in it?"
The presence of a river explains why the farmers here cultivate paddy fields and do not lack water. Zhang Guodong is particularly interested in villages with rivers.
Just for this environment!
A picturesque scene of small bridges, flowing water, and traditional houses! A truly poetic place.
The eldest sister-in-law smiled slightly, but then the eldest brother interjected, "This river originates from a stream. There's a waterfall in the mountains, seven or eight meters high, but it's quite wide, over ten meters wide. However, both banks are rocky cliffs, likely formed by water erosion. The terrain is steep, and only tourists frequently venture in. This small river eventually flows into the Cangjiang River, and the current isn't fast. Some fish swim upstream and easily survive and reproduce here."
“Your older brother is right. When I was a kid, I often went to the river to catch crabs, fish, and shrimp. Sometimes if I was lucky, I could even find turtles or whales. But back then, I would take them home and eat them!” the sister-in-law said with a smile.
Wow, a big cannonball? That's a national treasure-level fish, right? Wild ones are extremely precious! Zhang Guodong really wanted to go down and take a look at this green ribbon-like stream.
As we spoke, the car stopped in front of a farmhouse, a pear tree branch extending out of the yard. The yard was large and spacious, with brick walls, a square courtyard, a large gate, and two-story houses with red tiles and white walls. It was very clean.
There were other villagers' houses nearby. Most of them looked the same. The villagers here have a relatively high standard of living; the children I saw along the way were dressed several levels better than children in rural northern China.
Moreover, the most common sight here is cars; sedans are quite prevalent. Some belong to tourists, while others are owned by villagers. This place boasts modern agricultural facilities and a vibrant atmosphere.
A good environment makes for a good life!
"We're home, second brother, it's time to get off!" the sister-in-law said with a smile, glancing at Zhang Guodong, who was still in a daze.
"Oh, I'm getting off," Zhang Guodong said, snapping out of his daze. He smiled sheepishly and quickly got off the bus. His parents had been staying at the Huang family's house during their time in Sichuan. Now that the two families were related by marriage, they were even closer than family.
"Hey, where did you rent this car? And it's new?" Just as everyone was about to enter the house, a strange voice came from outside.
Zhang Guodong stopped and glanced outside. He then noticed that his sister-in-law's face had suddenly turned cold, and Huang's parents also looked a little uncomfortable.
Zhang Guozheng, on the other hand, had an angry expression on his face.
Zhang Guodong frowned and asked his elder brother, "Brother, who is this person speaking so sarcastically?"
Just then, two young men entered. There was also a middle-aged woman; the voice came from her, and she had a mean expression.
The eldest brother, Zhang Guozheng, said, "It's your prostitute's second aunt who lives in the city."
A relative? Or her aunt?
Zhang Guodong was puzzled. Why was she speaking so sarcastically when their relationship seemed strained? But it was clear this woman was looking for trouble.
At this moment, Yang Qin said with a stern face, "Huang Shuli, what are you doing here again? You're not welcome here!"
"Not welcome? Oh, this is the Huang family's territory, who do you think you are? I'm here anyway!" Huang Shuli cursed, then looked at Zhang Guodong's family and immediately pointed at them, saying, "You're just toads trying to eat swan meat, outsiders? Let me tell you! You think you can steal my wife? No way! If you don't leave here tomorrow, I'll make you pay! You sons of bitches!"
This resulted in the entire Zhang family being verbally abused and warned. Zhang Zhengrong and Ye Cuihua were furious!
Zhang Guodong was immediately annoyed and snorted coldly. After listening to his elder brother's account, he suddenly understood. It turned out that the Huang family was very large. His sister-in-law's father, Huang Anquan, was the third son of the Huang family. He had been married once before, but his first wife had passed away long ago and had no children. Yang Qin had married him with her daughter, who was not Huang's biological daughter.
Furthermore, there are five siblings in the Huang family this generation. The woman before us, Huang Shuli, is the fifth child. She married a man from the city; her husband is the owner of a small company, and they have a son, the rather thin and lecherous young man in front of us, named Liu Jun. However, Liu Jun is a good-for-nothing, has no stable job, and can't find a girlfriend. Knowing that his sister-in-law, Huang Yi, is not his biological daughter, and that they are not related by blood, this woman had the idea of arranging a marriage between her sister-in-law and his son. But how could Yang Qin possibly agree to that?
The two families immediately fell out!
They frequently come to cause trouble!
Huang Anquan, the elder sister-in-law's father, was taciturn and not good at speaking, so he was usually at a disadvantage. Yang Qin, a primary school teacher, was polite and refined, and naturally, she was no match for Huang Shuli. Today, seeing them taking wedding photos with the Zhang family, this woman got anxious and decided to sabotage the situation.
If my son Yu can't find a wife, no one else can either!
Besides, the Zhang family are outsiders, so this woman is even less afraid of anyone.
Zhang Guodong listened to his elder brother's angry words. The woman over there cursed even more fiercely, making Yang Qin tremble with anger. After all, it was Sichuan dialect, and Zhang Guodong didn't need to listen carefully to know that she was cursing very badly.
“Brother, leave this to me. Does the Zhang family really think they’re easy prey that they’ve come all the way to Sichuan?” Zhang Guodong said.
"People like this are afraid of the strong and only listen to the weak. You have to teach them a lesson, or you'll just keep getting into trouble!"
"Second brother, don't do anything rash!" Zhang Guozheng was surprised that his second brother seemed to have changed a lot, but he didn't think much of it and hurriedly said.
"Don't worry!" Zhang Guodong said with a smile.
He thought to himself, "You think you can steal my sister-in-law? How many heads do you have?" He was furious!
Zhang Guodong walked over. The young man, with a lecherous look on his face, saw someone blocking his view and shoved him aside, yelling, "Get out of the way, you son of a bitch!"
Upon seeing it was Zhang Guodong, he immediately continued cursing, "You little bastard, get out of Sichuan or you'll regret it!"
"Try swearing again?" Zhang Guodong grabbed his hand and smiled.
"Damn it!" He felt his right hand being squeezed by a vise, but then he remembered that the other person was an outsider, so he mustered his courage and cursed loudly.
"Slap! Slap! Slap!" Zhang Guodong's face turned cold, and he slapped him several times with his backhand! The force of each slap could knock someone unconscious. The cheek swelled up quickly after being slapped.
"Was it satisfying to curse? Keep going!" Zhang Guodong chuckled.
At this, Zhang Guodong's expression darkened. Trying to bully the Zhang family? Hmph. Too many to count!
"You son of a bitch, how dare you hit someone? I'll fight you to the death!" Huang Shuli shouted as she rushed over when she saw her son being hit.
"Get out!" Zhang Guodong roared coldly, his expression turning fierce.
The shout was so loud it made people's ears ring. Huang Shuli paused, then looked at Zhang Guodong's eyes and immediately stopped in fright; that look terrified her.
"If you come causing trouble again, I'll break your legs and see if you can keep your word or if I can!" Zhang Guodong said coldly, his face ashen, as he swept his gaze over the mother and son. "Aren't you going to get lost?"
Huang Shuli immediately snapped out of her daze and pulled her son aside. Frightened, she stubbornly said, "Yang Qin, don't be so smug! Just you wait! And you too!"
Zhang Guodong narrowed his eyes. A fierce glint flashed in his eyes, and he could no longer continue with his threatening words.
The mother and son left quickly!
(Author's note: Second update is here! 7,000 words completed for today!)
I was so excited to be featured on the cover of today's movie "Martial God" that I almost bled from sweat! Hehe!
The novel "Heavenly Path" isn't aiming for the monthly ticket rankings anymore, but I still need to ask for your continued subscription support. For example, the subscription numbers for the first chapter, "Feng," are so far behind! Ugh. Also, I'm asking for recommendation votes to try and get on or off the urban fiction recommendation list. I'm a little short, thank you!
