Zhu Zhu returned home with red eyes from crying. She stayed in her room for almost three hours until Aunt Zhang called her to eat.
"What's wrong with your eyes?" Zhu Zhu just walked into the restaurant and saw Nan Xun, whom she hadn't seen for a long time, sitting in front of the restaurant looking at her.
Zhu Zhu didn't expect him to come back for dinner today, and she didn't know how to hide her gaffe.
"Nothing... nothing." Zhu Zhu sat on the other side of the dining table. "Something just went in, and I rubbed it with my hand."
"Yeah." Nan Xun simply responded and started eating.
"I heard...you met Li'er?" The two of them ate in silence for a while, and Nanxun asked Zhu Zhu.
Zhu Zhu looked up at Nan Xun, who had an expressionless face, and nodded.
"Li'er is my ex-girlfriend." Nanxun said, "Did Lu Li tell you?"
"Yeah." Zhu Zhu still nodded.
"That's good." Nanxun said, "It saves me from having to tell you again."
Zhu Zhu lowered her head, tears streaming down her cheeks into the rice bowl.
"Let's have dinner together tomorrow," Nanxun said. "Li'er said she wants to talk to you."
Zhu Zhu lowered his head even lower. It turned out that he had come back earlier to deliver a message for Xue Lier.
"Okay..." Zhu Zhu tried hard to suppress her trembling voice and put the bowl down.
She had to leave here immediately, otherwise she was afraid she would suffocate.
"I'm full." Zhu Zhu said, "Take your time eating."
Then he turned and went upstairs.
Nan Xun looked at Zhu Zhu's departing back, his brows unconsciously furrowed, his pretty lips moved, but he still said nothing.
That night, Zhu Zhu didn't know if she slept at all. Even if she did, it was all a dream. In her dream, Nan Xun held Xue Li'er in his arms. He looked at Zhu Zhu coldly, telling her to stay away from them.
When she woke up, Zhu Zhu found some wet tear marks in the corners of her eyes. It seemed that even in her dream, she was crying very sadly.
The next morning, Zhu Zhu could no longer lie in bed and got up early.
But she didn't go out. She was afraid of running into Nanxun. She didn't know how to face this face that haunted her dreams. She was afraid that if she looked at Nanxun even one more time, she would be unable to resist telling him how much she loved him.
Maybe after today, it would be over between them. She would also wake up from this dream.
In the mirror, Zhu Zhu, who hadn't slept well the previous night, looked extremely haggard. Even a whole bottle of foundation couldn't cover up the dark circles under her eyes.
She picked out the clothes she thought looked the best and put them on. Zhu Zhu thought to herself that even if she lost, she couldn't lose too badly.
While Zhu Zhu was dressing up, her cell phone rang. It was Nan Xun.
"Hello." Nanxun's magnetic voice came from the phone, "Li'er's car broke down, and I have to go pick her up. Can you go by yourself later?"
Zhu Zhu felt a pang of pain in her heart, but her expression remained unchanged: "Okay. I can go by myself. You can go pick her up without worry."
"Okay." Nan Xun simply replied with one word and hung up the phone.
Zhu Zhu looked at Nan Xun's name on her phone and felt amused. Finally, she, the substitute, no longer mattered.
After packing everything up, Zhu Zhu looked at herself in the mirror again.
Maybe she is not as good as Xue Lier in Nanxun's eyes, but Zhu Zhu thinks that the person in the mirror is pretty good.
You didn't lose.
Zhu Zhujie encouraged herself. "It's just that he doesn't like you. But you haven't lost either."
Start finding yourself again from today.
