Harman came to the house where Rasheed and Sherri lived early in the morning. This was his third visit there.
The first two times he reported to Rashid on behalf of his superiors.
It was on those two occasions that he looked up in the garden and saw Xue Li'er looking at them from the window.
Thinking of Xue Li'er again, he was shocked.
He thought she had been sold to a foreign country, but he didn't expect that she would become Rashid's canary.
Ever since he met Xue Li'er that time, he has been worried about her, but he dared not ask about her situation.
He received an email from Xue Li'er before she gave birth.
He knew Xue Li'er was eager to know the truth, but he couldn't act rashly. He was afraid that if he did something wrong, it would harm Xue Li'er and himself.
Later, when Xuelier gave birth, Rashid arranged for his sister to be with Xuelier to take care of her and her child. It was from his sister that Haman learned what had happened to Xuelier over the past year.
I learned how Xue Li'er fought with six well-trained men to escape being sold to another country.
I also learned how Xue Li'er was forced by Rashid to become his concubine.
Harman was heartbroken when he knew all this.
He knew Xue Li'er was unwilling to accept this, and he also wanted to rescue Xue Li'er from Rashid.
But he couldn't. He was afraid of Rashid. He was afraid that if Rashid got angry, it would implicate his entire family.
So, he gave the answer that Xue Lier wanted to his sister Salma, and asked Salma to tell Xue Lier that he was willing to help her no matter what she wanted.
Harman wanted to use this method to reduce his guilt for not being able to rescue Xue Li'er.
Until yesterday, Xue Lier had actually managed to get Rashid to arrange for him to accompany her on a trip. Harman knew that he could no longer underestimate her.
"Come?" Rashid walked into the study and sat down at his desk.
Harman stood up and bowed to Rashid, saying, "Yes, cousin."
"How is your work under Kerry?" Rashid asked slowly.
"Kerry taught me a lot. I learned a lot from him," Harman said.
"Haman..." Rashid looked directly into Haman's eyes and said, "If you hadn't disobeyed my orders last time, you might have become my right-hand man today."
"Cousin, I deeply regret my previous stupidity."
"Can I trust you again? Harman..." Rashid asked.
Haman replied eagerly, "My cousin, I will be loyal to you and only you from now on. Please believe me."
"Tell me, why did you disobey my orders that time and stop me from arresting Patty?"
Hamman paused and said, "Patty helped me when I was in the imperial capital. I swore to God that if she needed my help in any way, I would do my best to help her."
"So you disobeyed me to keep your promise?"
"I'm sorry, cousin. I swear to Allah."
Rashid stared at Harman carefully for a few seconds and finally laughed.
"Harman, I know you're a pious child," Rashid said, "but it's because of your disobedience that Patty has the opportunity to become my woman."
Harman looked at Rashid in confusion. He didn't know how he became the matchmaker between them.
"Because of your defiance," Rashid said, "I'm curious about what kind of woman could make you, someone who has obeyed me since childhood, disobey me. So, when they captured Patty from China, I didn't let them sell her right away. Instead, I brought her here, wanting to see with my own eyes what kind of woman she is."
"Harman..." Rashid continued, "Patty is a good woman. I always thought you liked her."
