Chapter 11, "May Wanwan live to be a hundred years old."...

The weather was nice outside, and Qiao Xirong suggested that if her health allowed, she could get up and walk slowly instead of lying down for too long. So, Chen Jianjin got a wheelchair and pushed Song Wan out to sunbathe.

Behind the inpatient department is a sizable garden, a quiet and peaceful place perfect for a stroll and some fresh air.

Before long, the two started arguing again. This time, the disagreement was that Song Wan could walk on her own, but Chen Jianjin insisted on helping her.

Their argument soon drew the attention of an elderly man.

An elderly woman with gray hair sat in a wheelchair, her smile kind, and said to Song Wan, "Young lady, if your boyfriend wants to take care of you, just give him a chance to be attentive."

"Grandma, you've misunderstood." Song Wan glared at Chen Jianjin and waved her hand to clarify, "He and I are not in that kind of relationship."

The old lady understood and said "Oh," "So you haven't won him over yet, young man. You'd better keep trying."

Chen Jianjin humbly accepted the criticism and smiled, saying, "You're right, I will definitely continue to work hard."

“Young lady, I think this young man is quite good.” The old lady was determined to bring about a marriage and advised, “He is tall and strong, and good-looking. You two are a perfect match. Don’t be shy when you should nod your head. Don’t let pride wear you down and cause you to lose him. It’s not worth it.”

"Grandma, we..." Song Wan wanted to explain something, but Chen Jianjin put his arm around her shoulder. "Thank you for your kind words. I will work harder and strive to become a full-fledged employee as soon as possible."

What nonsense is he spouting?!

Song Wan was so angry that she nudged him with her elbow.

The young couple were flirting, but the old lady couldn't bear to watch any longer. She directed her electric wheelchair to turn around and go somewhere else.

A shameless person is invincible.

Chen Jianjin truly put this statement into practice to the extreme.

After being helped along for a while, Song Wan felt lazy and sat back in her wheelchair.

Chen Jianjin pushed her.

The warm sun and gentle morning breeze made me feel as sweet and content as if I had eaten a piece of honey.

This tranquility gave Chen Jianjin a sense of disorientation, and he couldn't help but imagine the future.

His and her future.

“Honey, tell me, what will it be like sixty years from now, when our hair is all white and I’m still pushing you like this?”

Song Wan looked at him with a complicated expression.

Who would want to be with him? Who would want to still recognize him sixty years from now?!

Without realizing it, Chen Jianjin became serious. "I hope that my baby will live longer than me, and that Wanwan will live to be a hundred years old."

The simplest tone conveys the most sincere blessings, like a prayer or a monologue.

Song Wan tapped the armrest of her wheelchair, her lips moved, but she couldn't utter a word.

Song Wan recovered well and was discharged from the hospital in less than a week.

The first thing to do upon returning to school is to go to the counselor to cancel my leave.

When her counselor saw her, he smiled and joked, "You look much better than before. You don't look like you've just recovered from a serious illness. You look like you've gone out for a trip."

A casual remark, but Song Wan took it to heart.

She looked at herself in the full-length mirror in her dorm room, but she couldn't see any change in herself.

When her roommate came back from get out of class, Song Wan had just taken a shower. To prevent her wound from getting wet, she wrapped a layer of plastic wrap around her waist before taking off her things. Her roommate then pushed open the door with dinner in her arms.

"Hey Xiaowan, you're back? How was it? Did you have fun?"

The person asking the question was a girl who always wore her hair in a high ponytail; she was studying information engineering and her name was Lin Sang.

Song Wan looked puzzled: "Why do you ask that?"

"Huh?" Lin Sang was also taken aback by her question. "You've been gone for three or four days. Didn't you go on vacation?"

Song Wan shook her head. "No, I had acute appendicitis and was hospitalized for a few days."

Lin Sang's eyes widened in surprise. "So you're all better now? It must be tough going to the doctor all by yourself. You should have told us so we could take turns taking care of you."

Song Wan didn't mention Chen Jianjin, but smiled and accepted her kindness, "Thank you, but thankfully it's all in the past now. After the stitches are removed in a couple of days, there shouldn't be any problems."

Lin Sang nodded and smiled, "That's good. Zhou Zhou and Xiao Ling made a bet before that you went out to play. It seems that Zhou Zhou lost this time."

The Zhou Zhou and Xiao Ling that Lin Sang mentioned are her other two roommates. The four of them share a dorm room. Zhou Zhou and Xiao Ling are in the same major and have a better relationship.

Speak of the devil and he appears.

No sooner had he finished speaking than the two of them returned carrying the food.

Zhou Zhou is tall and has a world-weary face. Xiao Ling is the only person in the dormitory who is eccentric. She is lively and cheerful, like a little sun.

"Hey! Sangsang." After greeting her, Xiaoling noticed Song Wan. "Xiao Wan, you're back? How was it? Did you have fun?"

Lin Sang proactively informed them, "Xiao Wan didn't go out to play; she had appendicitis surgery."

"Oh? How are you now? Are you feeling better?"

Song Wan nodded, "It's all over now."

Zhou Zhou interjected at this moment, "What a pointless question. Would the doctor discharge someone if they weren't feeling well?"

Xiaoling crossed her arms and snorted, "You lost, you owe me ten silver dollars."

Song Wan asked curiously, "What kind of bet did you make?"

Xiaoling was outspoken. "Zhou Zhou bet me where you've been these past few days. She said you must have gone on a date with Chen Jianjin. I bet you didn't."

Xiaoling is the roommate who asked her about her relationship with Chen Jianjin before.

Song Wan's smile was slightly awkward, and Xiao Ling seemed to realize something as well, scratching her head, "Sorry."

"It doesn't matter."

“If you ask me, baby, you’re just too obedient and well-behaved.” Zhou Zhou said while fixing her hair with a hair clip, “If it were me, with such a handsome guy standing in front of me, even if it wasn’t going to last long, I would definitely seize the opportunity to eat my fill. After all, once this opportunity is gone, it’s gone forever.”

That was truly a shocking statement, coming from the coolest and most courageous woman in the whole dorm, and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Seeing their stunned expressions, Zhou Zhou frowned and asked, "None of you have ever done this before?"

Xiaoling scratched her head and chuckled.

Lin Sang blushed, "I just turned eighteen when school started."

Then, Zhou Zhou turned her gaze to the most suspicious person in the dormitory. Song Wan quickly turned her face away and defended herself, saying, "Chen Jianjin and I are not in that kind of relationship."

“Of course I didn’t mention you and Chen Jianjin.” Zhou Zhou smiled. “What are you thinking, baby?”

Song Wan sensed something was off about her tone, as if she were being sarcastic, but she didn't dare to think about it too deeply.

Song Wan's phone vibrated. She picked it up and saw a message from Chen Jianjin. He said he couldn't have dinner with her that night and had sent her some things by driver, who was already downstairs.

[No need] Song Wan typed back: [How much is my surgery in total? I'll transfer it to you.]

Chen Jianjin: [?]

Chen Jianjin: [The driver was a man in his fifties. He wouldn't accept the item, so he just waited downstairs.]

Chen Jianjin: [It's quite windy outside today.]

He really knows how to manipulate her.

Song Wan eventually compromised.

For the next two days, she didn't see Chen Jianjin again, and he didn't accept the money transfer. However, her three meals a day were delivered to her on time.

There was another library activity in the volunteer group, and this time Song Wan signed up.

Organizing the books wasn't too tedious; it only took two hours.

Since she had no classes in the afternoon, Song Wan simply found a study room to read, and unexpectedly ran into Lian Huaiyang.

He was pleasantly surprised to see her.

The study room wasn't a place to talk, so Song Wan followed Lian Huaiyang to a quiet corridor outside.

Song Wan hadn't actually figured out how to face Lian Huaiyang.

The week after Chen Jianjin caused him trouble, she offered to visit him in the hospital, but he refused. For a long time afterward, the two did not speak to each other again.

Lian Huaiyang was probably busy, while Song Wan was simply afraid of being embarrassed.

Why didn't you contact me after you went back to school?

Song Wan looked down at the tips of her shoes. "I've been a bit busy lately. Are you alright? Has Chen Jianjin given you any more trouble since then?"

"No."

Song Wan breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good."

After they finished speaking, they both fell silent.

After an unknown amount of time, Song Wan moved her lips and said, "Then... I'll head back now?"

Lian Huaiyang lowered his eyes in dejection and remained silent.

Song Wan assumed he had overheard.

As they passed each other, her wrist was grabbed. Song Wan looked up in confusion and saw Lian Huaiyang with a serious expression, stammering, "Wanwan... have you... have you been to the hospital?"

Song Wan asked, puzzled, "What have you seen?"

“A man like Chen Jianjin must have slept with many women.” Lian Huaiyang took a deep breath and stared into her eyes. “Wanwan, do you want to go to the hospital for a checkup?”

Song Wan couldn't help but take a small step back.

Like being struck by lightning, she couldn't believe such words would come from Lian Huaiyang's mouth.

"Wanwan, I'm doing this for your own good, because I'm worried about you."

Noticing that she was in a bad mood, Lian Huaiyang quickly tried to make amends.

Song Wan nodded absentmindedly, "I know."

But she always felt that something was off.

In her memory, Lian Huaiyang was a very ambitious person who was oblivious to the world around him and devoted himself to studying the classics.

One day, the sage told her to go to the hospital to check if she had zang disease.

Is she overreacting?

Song Wan felt a strange sense of unease.

She pulled her arm away and said emotionlessly, "There's no need. I'm going back now."

Lian Huaiyang stood there, pondering Song Wan's answer for a long time.

During the few days he didn't spend with Song Wan, Chen Jianjin flew to Germany to discuss a project.

The plane landed at 4:20. Chen Jianjin went back to his apartment to take a shower and then picked up the gift he had brought for Song Wan.

Just as I got into the car and fastened my seatbelt, Zhou Xiangyuan called.

"What's up?"

"Can't I contact you if there's nothing wrong?" Zhou Xiangyuan said with dissatisfaction, but still asked, "Qi Yan said your side is over. I've organized a gathering tonight. Do you want to come out and relax?"

As he spoke, Zhou Xiangyuan cursed again: "Damn it, that dog Qi Yan isn't replying to my messages again."

"No, I have to go keep someone company."

Zhou Xiangyuan was speechless for a moment, then asked after two seconds, "Where is Qi Yan?"

"He didn't come back; he flew directly to England."

Zhou Xiangyuan wanted to curse.

Passing by a flower shop, Chen Jianjin bought a bunch of sunflowers.

At 5:30, Song Wan should be on her way back to the dormitory, so Chen Jianjin simply waited downstairs with the flowers in his arms.

"Hey, Chen Jianjin?"

Xiaoling loves to join in the fun. Seeing someone in the distance, she curiously ran up to them and asked, "Are you here to see Xiaowan?"

Chen Jianjin remained indifferent and ignored him.

Seeing this, Zhou Zhou, who was following behind Xiaoling, explained, "We are her roommates."

Chen Jianjin's expression softened slightly, and he nodded politely, "Hello."

Xiaoling kindly informed us: "Xiaowan is not in the dormitory; she went to the library."

Meanwhile, Song Wan packed her things and came out of the library, only to unexpectedly run into Lian Huaiyang at the entrance.

He asked, "Would you like to have dinner together?"

"No, thank you," Song Wan refused.

The driver usually delivers the food to her dormitory building at 5:30 sharp. Not wanting to keep her waiting, Song Wan decided to go back first.

However, Lian Huaiyang thought she was angry and was deliberately distancing herself from him.

So, as Song Wan was leaving, he grabbed her wrist.

"I'm sorry, I was rash today and shouldn't have said those things. But Wanwan, you have to believe me, my intentions were good. I was just worried about you."

Song Wan never doubted his intentions. "I know you're doing this for my sake."

Chen Jianjin rushed downstairs to the library with flowers in his arms, and this was the scene that greeted his eyes.
