Chapter 16 "So... my darling missed me."...

Heavy footsteps came from downstairs, one after another, like a death knell striking Song Wan's heart. She bit her lip and pushed Chen Jianjin away.

She must not be discovered.

Spit can drown a person.

Song Qinru would beat her to death if she found out.

Chen Jianjin was so engrossed in the kiss that he was completely unaware that someone was approaching. He only felt that the person in his arms was becoming more and more disobedient, twisting and struggling more and more violently.

He gently lifted his eyelids, looking at her with hazy eyes, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Song Wan was on the verge of tears, but only managed to bury her face in them.

This is the first time in my life that someone has taken the initiative to throw themselves into my arms.

Overjoyed, Chen Jianjin gently stroked her fluffy head.

However, the warmth was shattered the next second when an annoying voice came from behind: "It's going to rain, and a mother is going to remarry. Whose little girl is shamelessly cheating on her husband in broad daylight?"

His expression shifted instantly. Chen Jianjin glared at the hunched-over old man, his words dripping with venom, "Blind and lame? Can't you take the elevator? Or are you only tall enough to go up to the second floor?"

"you……!"

Chen Jianjin raised his head slightly, his gaze defiant.

The old man bullied the weak and feared the strong, and the fire died down.

Once everyone had completely disappeared, Chen Jianjin gently rubbed Song Wan's earlobe, cupped her face in his hands, and pulled her out of his arms.

She didn't know when, but her face was covered in tears.

Chen Jianjin's heart skipped a beat.

Song Wan's eyes were filled with resentment as she questioned, "Chen Jianjin, are you especially happy right now? Are you satisfied to see me lower my dignity to beg you and listen to me being maliciously humiliated?!"

Chen Jianjin frowned and reached for her hand, "Wanwan, I..."

"Don't touch me!"

With a crisp slap, Chen Jianjin's apology came to an abrupt halt.

Song Wan was also taken aback, staring blankly at her fingertips.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the boy raise his large hand.

Almost instinctively, Song Wan took a small step back, raised her arms in a defensive posture, and closed her eyes tightly.

Her heart was pounding with fear, but the expected slap never came.

Chen Jianjin's gesture of touching her face froze in mid-air. He stared intently at her movements, his breathing becoming heavy and his eyes reddening.

Realizing something belatedly, Song Wan slowly raised her head, only to be startled by the trapped beast-like gaze of the person in front of her.

She swallowed hard, her throat dry. "You..."

"Why do you think I want to hit you?" Chen Jianjin grabbed her arm, asking one question after another: "Why did you subconsciously make that movement? Has anyone hit you? Who? School bullying? Or... your dad?"

Song Wan's eyes widened slightly.

In an instant, Chen Jianjin read the answer in Song Wan's eyes.

He murmured softly, "So that's how it is."

"Hit me." Chen Jianjin said seriously.

Tears welled in her eyes, and Song Wan was stunned. "What...did you say?"

"Hit me." Chen Jianjin grabbed her hand and slapped it against her face. "Don't you hate it when I force you? Hit me."

"I...I don't want to."

The reason I slapped Jiao Qian earlier was partly because I don't retaliate unless provoked, and partly because I pitied her misfortune and was angry at her lack of self-respect. The slap just now was purely accidental.

Apart from those two incidents, Song Wan never hit anyone else.

She was a reasonable girl, but she encountered the unreasonable Chen Jianjin.

"You're not going to hit me?" Chen Jianjin pinched her chin, pretending to be fierce, and said, "Then don't look like you're being forced in the future, baby."

As he spoke, he stepped forward, trapping her firmly in front of him, and used his other hand to explore the alluring scenery inside her down jacket.

He grasped her slender waist beneath her sweater with one hand, his fingertips tracing along her waistband before finally resting on the button at her navel.

"Chen Jianjin, you bastard!"

Song Wan struggled in fear, but he held her down firmly.

Tears welled up in her eyes instantly, and she glared at him angrily, wishing he were dead.

Chen Jianjin frowned slightly, pressed his face down to look directly into her eyes, and said nonchalantly as he unbuttoned his pants, "Actually, my darling likes me like this too..."

A sharp "snap" interrupted his words.

Song Wan used all her strength in this move, her face still wet with tears, prepared for the worst-case scenario of dying together with others.

Chen Jianjin paused for a moment, then lightly touched the inside of his cheek with the tip of his tongue and suddenly laughed.

He wasn't angry or embarrassed at all after being hit. Instead, he felt refreshed and hugged her tightly, his eyes shining as he asked with a smile, "Was it good?"

Song Wan is the type of person who responds better to gentleness than force. She can argue with Chen Jianjin with angry words, but she has no idea how to face him when he greets her with a smile.

His face was red from the handprint.

Song Wan's fingertips were still numb. She wondered if the blow had been too heavy and she had accidentally knocked Chen Jianjin unconscious.

Otherwise... why would he ask such a question?

Chen Jianjin gently rubbed the back of her head with relief and tenderly pressed her against his chest.

"Don't be afraid of me, Wanwan, I will never touch you with a single hair."

The pounding of a boy's heart was too noisy in her ears, and Song Wan tried to push it away in frustration, but failed.

Chen Jianjin tenderly touched her face and rubbed her earlobe, his phoenix eyes filled with burning affection, and asked softly, "It's been so long, darling, have you missed me?"

Song Wan was still angry, her chest rising and falling slightly with her breathing.

She couldn't break free.

In the end, Song Wan completely lost her temper and gave up resisting.

"Good girl." Chen Jianjin smiled with satisfaction, hugged her tighter, and asked, "Have you been in contact with Lian Huaiyang lately?"

Song Wan remained as still as a dead person, refusing to give the slightest response.

Chen Jianjin was dissatisfied with her silence and reached out with his thumb to trace her luscious lips.

His raised eyebrows and fierce gaze were like those of a wolf or a tiger.

Song Wan was so scared that her calves trembled. She grabbed his hard wrist bone and shook her head.

Chen Jianjin leaned closer, his head bowed slightly. "Don't you miss me?"

"No!" Song Wan was terrified that he would go crazy again, and instinctively denied it.

As soon as she finished speaking, she realized what she had said, pursed her lips tightly, and gritted her teeth in disgust.

Chen Jianjin, however, looked completely satisfied, his carefree smile making his eyes crinkle into crescent moons. "So... my darling missed me."

Shameless! Bastard!

Even a day later, Song Wan still gets so angry that she grinds her teeth when she thinks about it.

"When did you develop such a bad habit?"

Zhao Shu took the baby from her hands, shook the bottle, and said, "Oh dear, my baby must be so hungry. Mommy will feed our baby milk right now."

The baby, nearly two months old, is incredibly cute.

Song Wan couldn't resist rubbing her chubby cheek with her finger and asked curiously, "Sis, what has your husband been busy with lately? Why isn't he home for the New Year?"

"What else could I be busy with?" Zhao Shu shifted her body as she continued breastfeeding, her arms aching from maintaining one position for too long. "I'm just trying to earn money for this little money-devouring beast's formula."

The little baby hummed at the right moment, as if it understood.

Zhao Shu teased her, "Baby, you understand what Mommy means by 'we're little money-devouring beasts'!"

In response, she kicked her legs and hummed twice.

Her adorable appearance immediately made them both laugh.

Song Wan squeezed her little fist, revealing her shallow dimples.

Zhao Shu looked at the baby, then went to look at Song Wan.

The young girl lowered her eyes and smiled gently, focused on coaxing the child, completely unaware that Zhao Shu's gaze had changed as she looked at the back of her neck. She raised a finger to touch the red mark behind her ear and asked with a raised eyebrow, "Are you in a relationship?"

Song Wan's pupils dilated slightly. "N-no, why are you asking that, sister?"

She straightened up and distanced herself, looking around but not daring to look Zhao Shu in the eye.

Zhao Shu smiled and continued to hold up the baby bottle. "You're an adult now, there's nothing wrong with dating. Your brother-in-law and I were in a relationship when we were still young."

Song Wan pursed her lips, and said hesitantly, "I...I didn't..."

"What's there to be shy about with me?" Zhao Shu said, glancing behind her ear with a teasing look. "That little strawberry... was it kissed by her boyfriend?"

Song Wan belatedly touched that spot.

Memories of the stairwell from the day before yesterday flooded back, and her heart sank.

"Sis, please don't tell Mom, okay?"

Zhao Shu nodded thoughtfully, "Indeed, your aunt is too strict with you. If she knew, she definitely wouldn't agree."

After feeding the baby, Zhao Shu patted the baby's back to help him burp.

Song Wan helped clean the baby bottles and put them in the sterilizer.

After eating and drinking to their hearts' content and the baby fell asleep, Zhao Shu became curious about Song Wan's love life again and pulled her to sit on the living room sofa.

"Tell me, what kind of person is your boyfriend? Do you have a picture?"

"Sister?!" Song Wan didn't expect Zhao Shu to say that she had something important to ask about. She tried to escape but was grabbed by the arm. "Tell me, I shared everything with you when I was dating."

Song Wan grumbled, unconvinced: "That's not sharing at all."

They clearly treated her like a love errand girl.

Zhao Shu was caught having a relationship, and Song Qinsu began to keep a close watch on her 24 hours a day.

Where there's a policy, there's a countermeasure. And so, Song Wan was forced to secretly deliver letters to them for a long time.

"Tell me, I won't tell your mom."

Zhao Shu couldn't get any gossip, and she was itching with curiosity.

It was a sudden phone call that saved Song Wan's life.

It was Song Qinsu calling, and she answered the phone immediately.

"Wanwan, are you home? I had a car accident with your mom. I'm fine, but your mom hit her head. Could you come over and take her to the hospital? I'm here... What are you doing? You want to fight? Try touching my sister again!"

The conversation on the other end of the phone was chaotic; Song Qinsu started arguing before she could even finish speaking.

Song Wan's face turned pale, and Zhao Shu couldn't help but feel nervous. "What's wrong? What happened?"

“My mom and my aunt had a car accident. My aunt said my mom hit her head,” Song Wan said while putting on her clothes. “I have to go check on her.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Shu also went to get her things, saying, "I'll go with you."

"No need, sis. You stay home and look after Xiaobao. She won't sleep for long; she'll wake up again soon."

Zhao Shu hesitated.

Song Wan comforted her, "It's alright, I'll go check on the situation first, it shouldn't be a big problem."

Even so, she was still very uncertain.

"Then call me when you arrive, and we can communicate anytime if anything comes up."

"good."

Song Wan responded and hurriedly left without even tying her scarf properly.

She had just hailed a taxi when Song Qinsu called again, saying that the traffic police had arrived, her mother had been taken to the hospital, and she was at the scene negotiating.

After asking which hospital it was, Song Wan asked the driver to turn around.

She rushed to the hospital and found the emergency room information desk. Before she could even ask if a patient named Song Qinru had come for treatment, she heard a voice behind her that she had heard countless times: "Wanwan?"

Song Wan turned her head away.

It was Song Qinru, with gauze on her forehead.

Tears welled up instantly, and she ran forward, asking, "Mom, how are you?"

"Oh dear, it's nothing serious. I just bumped into something when I braked suddenly and scraped my skin a little," Song Qinru said with a smile. "The driver was a good person. He didn't hold a grudge and even took me to the hospital."

As soon as she finished speaking, Song Wan heard a familiar voice: "Auntie."

Her eyes widened as she looked in the direction of the sound.

Chen Jianjin held the medical report in his hand, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bomber jacket. He tilted his head and smiled innocently at her.

Song Wan's breath caught in her throat.

Chen Jianjin walked up to the mother and daughter in a few steps and said leisurely, "How have you been, Wanwan?"

This time, it was Song Qinru's turn to be shocked. She looked at the tall, handsome boy in front of her, then at her own daughter, "Wanwan, do you two know each other?"

"Oh, we are..."

Before Chen Jianjin could finish speaking, Song Wan hurriedly interrupted him: "He's an alumnus. Didn't I tell you before that I joined a club? He's the president."

Song Wan forced a stiff, unpleasant smile. "What a coincidence, President."

Chen Jianjin raised an eyebrow, smiled, and remained silent.
