Chapter 28, "The Game Begins".

Chapter 28, "The Game Begins".

It's really inconvenient not having a mobile phone. Early in the morning, Song Wan started using her computer to look for travel guides and information about new mobile phones.

She decided to buy a cheap one so that she wouldn't feel as heartbroken if it got lost or broken in the future.

Before I could even find out what I wanted, I received news from Lian Huaiyang first—

【Wanwan, I've found your phone.】

Are you in your dorm? I'm downstairs at your dorm building right now.

Finding it back was an unexpected joy, and Song Wan hurriedly went downstairs.

She was in such a rush that she was slightly out of breath when she stood in front of the boy.

She wore a white camisole layered over a short, openwork knit cardigan, paired with a denim maxi skirt. Her glossy, smooth hair cascaded over her shoulders, and she still had a few stray hair clips she'd forgotten to remove in her haste to wear behind her ear.

The girl's almond-shaped eyes were round and bright, sparkling like light.

"You really found my phone?" Song Wan's eyes lit up with surprise. "Where did you find it?"

His gaze lingered on the girl's face for a long time. As he returned the item to her, Lian Huaiyang replied calmly, "You left it on the table at the restaurant yesterday at noon. The waiter helped to put it away."

Song Wan suddenly realized, and exclaimed, "Oh, I see!"

She thought she had put the food back in her bag after ordering.

"Thank you, Lian Huaiyang." Song Wan smiled and shook her phone at him. "You saved me a lot of money."

The girl's expressive face captivated even Huaiyang, causing him to smile slightly.

He was about to say "You're welcome" when he caught something out of the corner of his eye. The smile on his lips vanished, and the words on his tongue became, "Wanwan, I've thought about it seriously, and it seems we still can't continue to be just friends."

Lian Huaiyang pursed his lips and deliberately said, "I don't think I can bring myself to not like you."

Song Wan paused slightly, then gradually composed herself.

She let out a soft sigh, lowered her eyes and then raised them again, staring intently at his face as she said, "Thank you, Lian Huaiyang. Thank you for your honesty, and thank you for taking care of me all this time."

The boy's expression was so hurt that it made Song Wan's heart ache.

Put yourself in her shoes; being rejected by someone you like and losing a close friend at the same time—she wouldn't be able to handle it either.

Not wanting the atmosphere to become too somber, Song Wan deliberately tilted her head and teased him, "So this counts as a peaceful breakup, right?"

Lian Huaiyang couldn't help but smile. He opened his arms and looked at the girl with a leisurely air. "How about a final hug? Like when we graduated from high school, as a small farewell ceremony."

Since he had said that, Song Wan didn't hesitate any longer and stepped forward to hug him.

Feeling a pang of sadness, she forced her voice to remain steady as she wished him well, "Lian Huaiyang, take good care of yourself."

Lian Huaiyang didn't speak. As the figure in his peripheral vision gradually approached, he silently deepened the embrace.

Sure enough, the next second, his arm was twisted back with brute force, and he also got hit in the face.

Everything happened so suddenly that Song Wan didn't even have time to react before Chen Jianjin had already thrown another punch.

"Lian Huaiyang!" Song Wan rushed forward to pull him away, but Chen Jianjin dodged and pushed her away.

She stumbled several steps before regaining her balance.

The boy's punches were brutal and merciless; even Huaiyang was completely overwhelmed and couldn't even stand up straight.

Seeing him throw another punch, Song Wan's heart skipped a beat, and without thinking, she blocked Lian Huaiyang's path with her arm.

Chen Jianjin's bloodied fist scraped through the air, carrying a whooshing sound and a pungent, rusty stench, before abruptly stopping an inch from Song Wan's cheek.

The boy's eyes were bloodshot at the corners, his gaze deep and intense as he stared intently at the girl before him.

Extreme tension and fear made Song Wan close her eyes tightly, her heart pounding.

In an instant, those unpleasant memories that had been deliberately buried deep in her mind surged up like a tide, engulfing her in a wave of pain.

The girl's face turned pale, and her legs went weak.

"Wanwan, how are you? Are you alright?"

Hearing Lian Huaiyang's worried inquiry, Song Wan's eyelashes fluttered, and she opened her eyes shakily.

The boy shielded her in his arms with one arm. Despite being bruised and bleeding from the mouth, he still argued vehemently, shouting, "Chen Jianjin, are you even human? Hitting a girl?!"

Song Wan followed the finger Lian Huaiyang was pointing at and looked at the person opposite her.

Chen Jianjin looked at her expressionlessly.

Song Wan didn't know how to describe that look in her eyes. It was like a dark forest that could never be escaped at night, like an abyss that could never be seen, or like a wild beast trapped in a cage, struggling desperately but unable to find a way out.

Hollow, desolate, bleak...

Those were eyes that had finally given up after accumulating enough disappointment; they were a stagnant pool that would never come alive again.

Her fingertips trembled slightly, and a needle-like pain pierced her heart along her veins. Song Wan looked away in a panic.

However, the next moment, Chen Jianjin suddenly spoke up: "Song Wan, you asked me before how long I would play this game of love. Now, I will tell you the answer."

Upon hearing this, Song Wan shifted her gaze back.

Amidst her pounding heart, she saw his lips move slightly, followed by a cold, indifferent voice: "The game begins."

Before Song Wan could even react, he grabbed her wrist.

……pain.

Song Wan had never been treated so roughly by him before. She didn't know whether it was from the pain or the hurt, but tears welled up in her eyes.

Before Song Wan could even process what was happening, Chen Jianjin had shoved her into the passenger seat. The boy had already gotten in and locked the car.

"Wanwan!"

Lian Huaiyang kept banging on and hammering the passenger window, while he pulled on the car door and called out the girl's name repeatedly.

"Chen Jianjin!"

With her eyebrows furrowed into a deep frown, Song Wan tried to open the doors and windows, but nothing worked.

"They really do look like a pair of star-crossed lovers."

Chen Jianjin curled his lips into a sneer, glanced coldly at the two of them, and stepped on the clutch.

The car stopped suddenly after driving a short distance.

Just as Song Wan was wondering what Chen Jianjin was going to do, he suddenly shifted gears and reversed, the car moving backward at the speed of a cheetah.

But Lian Huaiyang was standing behind him!

"Chen Jianjin!" Song Wan felt her heart leap into her throat.

Outside the car, even Huaiyang was stunned, his brain went blank, and he stood there motionless, unable to react.

With a screech, the rubber tires screeched against the ground, leaving a long skid mark, and the rear of the car came to a steady stop just half an inch from Lian Huaiyang's legs.

The boy swallowed hard, his throat dry, and his knees buckled involuntarily.

Inside the car, Song Wan gripped the seatbelt tightly, equally terrified.

madman!

Chen Jianjin is an absolute madman!

They sped along the road.

When Song Wan regained her soul, the scenery before her eyes had changed drastically.

She then went to the master bedroom of Chen Jianjin's downtown apartment.

The difference was that the person in front of me was an absolute stranger.

Swallowing hard, Song Wan cautiously took several steps back.

However, the room was only so big, and no matter how far she retreated, she couldn't escape from his grasp.

Chen Jianjin smiled slightly and loosened his tie.

Did you sleep well last night?

He suddenly asked very gently, while his hands continued to unbutton his shirt.

The black shirt lay discarded at his feet, the boy's muscular chest exposed to the air.

Song Wan frowned slightly, blushed, and looked away. "I want to go back."

“Baby, you can’t go back.”

As soon as the voice fell, Song Wan was suddenly pulled and pushed onto the soft mattress next to her by a strong force.

She was so dizzy from the fall that she had barely turned over and was still not fully conscious when a strong, powerful hand grabbed her calf and gently pulled her down.

"Chen Jianjin!" Song Wan exclaimed in horror, retreating while desperately pulling down her skirt, which had inadvertently ridden up due to the movement.

Chen Jianjin grabbed her knees and pulled her back, pinning the girl down once more, rendering her unable to move.

Her cheek was pinched by two cold fingers. Song Wan stared at him with a look of fear and hatred, tears welling up in her almond-shaped eyes.

"Why are you crying?" The boy bent down, propped his arm around her head, and deliberately blew air into her ear, asking in a roguish voice, "Am I making you uncomfortable, baby?"

Today's Chen Jianjin is so unfamiliar to her that it's as if she's never known him before.

Song Wan tried to pry open his tiger's mouth, pushed his waist and abdomen that were pressed against her body, hit him, grabbed him, and scratched him, using all her strength and methods, but she still couldn't break free at all.

Until she cried and made a scene until she was exhausted, Chen Jianjin pulled a pillow behind her head and lowered his head to bite her lips.

The girl was like a piece of duckweed adrift in a light rain and a sudden gust of wind. When the tide pressed down, her slender stem could not bear the weight and was bent over.

A kiss that lasted a lifetime. When they parted, Song Wan's eyes were empty, tears streaming down her face, soaking her temples. She stared blankly at the glaring white wall above her.

Chen Jianjin was displeased with her expression, so he turned the girl's chin so that she looked directly into his eyes, and took her hand and placed it on the distinct chunks of flesh on her chin.

"Honey, what can I say to you? Even if you're looking for fun, you should choose someone like me, right?" He said, deliberately emphasizing his voice and gritting his teeth, "Is Lian Huaiyang as good as me? Hmm?"

Song Wan wanted to argue, to rebuke, to scold and hit him, but her body went against her will, and she didn't even dare to loosen her teeth that were tightly clenched around her lower lip.

Why has she become so unfamiliar?

Why can't I even control my own body?

Why would someone develop feelings for someone they absolutely hate?

Noticing the change in the girl beneath him, Chen Jianjin's emotions surged uncontrollably.

But... that's not enough.

Chen Jianjin grasped her ankle, gently stroked it twice, and then lowered his head to kiss it.

"Chen Jianjin!"

Her instep suddenly tensed, and Song Wan resisted fiercely.

She doesn't want to! She doesn't want this to happen!

Song Wan twisted and turned like a shrimp, trying to escape but unable to.

A thin layer of sweat seeped from her back. She bit her hand tightly and gripped the pillow next to her ear with her other hand.

The phone rang, and Song Wan reacted a beat too late. She turned her head to look at the phone lying on the bed, her mind filled with only one thought—

Call the police!

She's going to call the police!

Song Wan, panting heavily, suppressed her heart pounding so hard it felt like it was going to explode, and reached for her phone to answer the call.

Anyone can help her call the police.

However, Song Wan forgot that her phone was always set to vibrate, and the only call that rang was from Song Qinru.

Almost the instant the call connected, Song Wan heard an anxious voice on the other end: "Wanwan, something's happened to your mother!"
