Chapter 20 "Why won't you admit it? You also..."

Honey: [You said you'd give it a try, and now that the try is over, I'll tell you the answer.]

Darling: [Chen Jianjin, I will never like someone like you!]

Honey: [That's it. From now on, we go our separate ways. Don't bother me anymore!]

My darling: [Otherwise, even if it means mutual destruction, I will definitely drag you down to hell with me!]

Baby: [Don't push me, even a rabbit will bite when cornered!!!]

Chen Jianjin frowned as he read through all the messages, then typed an apology: "I'm sorry, I was a jerk this afternoon."

The message was sent, but all I received was a bright red exclamation mark and a system message: "SW has enabled friend verification. You are not yet his/her friend. Please send a friend request first. You can chat only after the other party accepts your request."

With a throbbing pain in his right cheek, Chen Jianjin was extremely annoyed. He tried calling Song Wan again, making seven or eight calls in a row, but without exception, she was always on another call.

Chen Jianjin was almost certain that Song Wan had blocked him.

This time, he really angered her.

Now, not only Song Wan wants to curse him, but Chen Jianjin also wants to curse himself.

You lustful bastard! You can't control your lower body!

That night, Song Wan had a terrible nightmare. She dreamt that Chen Jianjin ignored her resistance and forced her to finish what they couldn't do in the car. She woke up in a cold sweat.

The sticky feeling between her legs made her feel nauseous. Song Wan washed herself again and again, but in the end, it was only after Song Qinru urged her to eat that she turned off the shower and came out of the bathroom.

"Why do you take a shower in the morning?" Song Qinru asked.

Song Wan hurried back to her room while drying her hair, explaining vaguely, "I sweated last night."

Song Wan spent the entire day in fear, terrified that Chen Jianjin would come to her house.

Fortunately, he didn't.

"Wanwan, throw away the trash."

Song Wan put on her coat, picked up her things, and went out.

I had just thrown the trash into the garbage bin downstairs when I turned around and saw the last person I wanted to see.

What I worried about all day finally happened.

Song Wan's heart skipped a beat, and she turned and ran.

Despite the inherent physiological differences between men and women, she still couldn't outrun Chen Jianjin.

He pulled her into his arms and apologized gently, "I'm sorry, I was a jerk. I won't do it again, Wanwan, I promise!"

His vow was less than that of a mayfly, which lives only a day.

Song Wan tried to pry his arms off with both hands, coldly demanding, "Let go of me!"

"I'll let you go after I've finished speaking, or I'll let you go now, please don't run away, okay?" Chen Jianjin lowered his head in defeat and said, "I've been waiting downstairs all day, Wanwan, can you... have some pity for me?"

Because he was afraid of ruining the goodwill he had painstakingly built up in front of Song Qinru, Chen Jianjin didn't even dare to visit her.

I waited downstairs from the first light of dawn, clinging to a sliver of hope that she would appear.

Song Wan's arm was aching, and she had no choice but to compromise: "Let go of me, then you can talk."

Having received the promise, Chen Jianjin dared to loosen his grip slightly, and he held her shoulders, turning her around.

The two were looking at each other.

Chen Jianjin lowered his eyes and admitted his mistake: "I was reckless yesterday. I shouldn't have disregarded your wishes. But Wanwan, if you were me, you wouldn't have been able to resist either. It's like someone you've loved for so long took the initiative to touch you. If I could have resisted, then there would have been problems. And... moreover... it was just a little rubbing against each other through the clothes, nothing more..."

A sharp "snap" cut off Chen Jianjin's absurd statement.

Song Wan glared at him through gritted teeth, her whole body trembling with hatred.

With his Adam's apple bobbing slightly, Chen Jianjin asked himself, "Do I regret it?"

The answer is no regrets.

I don't regret my reaction last night, I only regret using the wrong methods.

Watching the girl's receding figure, Chen Jianjin's brown eyes darkened inch by inch.

"Song Wan," he suddenly said, "why won't you admit that you feel comfortable too, and that you react to me as well?"

Song Wan paused slightly, then continued running.

Rather than asking that question, Chen Jianjin wanted to ask: "Why are you unwilling to face your own desires and admit that you are also attracted to me?"

That night, Song Wan couldn't sleep.

In the dead of night, so quiet you could hear a pin drop, she clutched her chest and asked herself.

Was she really angry at Chen Jianjin? Or at herself, who had been aroused by him and developed inappropriate desires?

The answer is obvious: the latter.

She couldn't accept their morbid and abnormal beginning, couldn't accept the obsessive and domineering Chen Jianjin, and even less could she accept that, despite all this, she still developed a slight liking for herself.

Fang Xia: [Wanwan, are you free tonight?]

Fang Xia: [Link]

Fang Xia: [A new movie just came out, the reviews are pretty good, wanna go see it together?]

Fang Xia: [Poke it.jpg]

As soon as the sixth day of the Lunar New Year passed and the shops reopened, Fang Xia quickly sent an invitation.

Song Wan has very few friends, which is why she cherishes everyone around her so much.

That noon, Song Wan packed her lunch in a lunchbox and went out.

Song Qinru opened a tailor shop, a small shop of about ten square meters, with mannequins at the entrance and all kinds of clothes inside.

"Mom, dinner's ready."

Song Wan opened the food box, and three dishes and a soup were placed on the small square table.

She habitually checked the water in her thermos and found it was still full.

As Song Qinru came out of the bathroom in the inner room, she heard Song Wan complain, "Mom, no matter how busy you are, you should still drink water."

"How could I possibly care?" Song Qinru asked as she sat down to eat, "Are young girls these days starting to like cheongsams again?"

She muttered to herself, "Three groups of people came this morning, all wanting to order cheongsams."

"Maybe." Song Wan turned on the iron and helped iron the newly made clothes. "Mom, I might not be home for dinner tonight. Xiaxia asked me to go out."

"Oh... okay."

Song Qinru took a sip of soup, then, as if remembering something, asked, "Why haven't I seen your boyfriend these past few days? Did you two have a fight?"

Song Wan paused slightly, then continued ironing the clothes. "Mom, you're overthinking it. Nothing like that happened."

That's true; being in a relationship doesn't necessarily mean you have to be together every single day.

Song Qinru felt relieved. "Oh right, I forgot to ask you last time. Your boyfriend said you two met a long time ago. How come I've never heard you mention that there was such an impressive person in your high school?"

"...?"

Song Wan explained, "He's not from our high school."

As far as she knew, Chen Jianjin was a native of Beijing and had studied there since childhood.

Now Song Qinru was also confused. "He told me that you two met when you were in your first year of high school."

Song Wan frowned. "When did he say that? And what else did he say?"

"It was... the day of the Lunar New Year's Day greetings." Song Qinru recalled the scene from that day.

The young man was considerate and thoughtful, bringing gifts with him.

He said that Song Wan respected her as her mother very much, and that he truly loved her daughter. Every word he spoke was sincere and devout.

Chen Jianjin said they had met, but Song Wan searched through her past and had no related memories.

I reckon he's lying again; he never tells the truth.

Song Wan helped out at the shop in the afternoon, and Fang Xia rode over on her electric scooter near dusk.

“Wanwan”.

A person on the roadside stood on one leg and called out to her.

Song Wan was helping to lock the door when Song Qinru patted her on the shoulder, "Go ahead, don't keep Xiaxia waiting too long, I can do this."

Song Wan moved aside. "Well... Mom, I'm leaving now. I'll be back soon."

Song Qinru waved to her.

Song Wan took the helmet from Fang Xia and sat on the back of her seat.

Since it was still early, they ate lunch first and then went shopping at the mall.

"Hey, when did a new boutique open here?"

Fang Xia loved browsing these kinds of stores when she was in high school, and she still does now.

She picked up the hat with great interest, while Song Wan looked at the small and exquisite pendant next to her out of boredom.

There was a really cute keychain with a little panda holding bamboo, and Song Wan fell in love with it at first sight.

She reached out to take it, but Fang Xia beat her to it, exclaiming, "Wow! This is so cute!"

As she spoke, she asked Song Wan, "How is it? Does it match my outfit today?"

Fang Xia wore a black and white down jacket today.

Song Wan slowly shifted her gaze from the panda keychain in her hand and nodded with a smile.

Fang Xia was happy and went to pick out other things.

While she wasn't looking, Song Wan asked a waiter and found out that the panda keychain was the last one.

After leaving the jewelry store, Fang Xia bought a lot of things, while Song Wan only chose one toy for Xiao Bao.

When it was almost time, the two took the elevator to the movie theater on the top floor of the mall.

It's a hilarious comedy about dreams, and because the lead actor is very famous, many people come to see it.

Not long after Song Wan took her seat, the movie started, and at that moment, the person who had taken the empty seat to her right finally arrived late.

The theater was dark, and the movie's plot was fast-paced. Song Wan quickly became immersed in the viewing experience until someone lightly touched her elbow. Song Wan looked away and turned her head to look at Fang Xia.

She whispered in her ear, "Right side, right side, handsome guy."

Song Wan belatedly looked over, just as the person opposite her happened to turn their head and look at her.

The dim light and shadows accentuated the boy's sculpted profile, and his captivating phoenix eyes brimmed with tender, ambiguous emotions that seemed about to overflow.

Her raven-feather-like eyelashes fluttered slightly, and Song Wan quickly looked away. Fang Xia kept asking incessantly in her ear, "How was it? Wasn't it amazing?"

Song Wan gave a perfunctory "Mmm," and said, "Let's watch a movie."

However, Fang Xia did not listen to her words. Her gaze passed over Song Wan and landed squarely on Chen Jianjin's face.

The film continued, but Song Wan had lost the desire to watch any further. Her mind was filled with one thought: When did Chen Jianjin arrive? Why didn't she notice at all?

After watching for a while, Fang Xia finally realized something was wrong. She tugged at Song Wan's sleeve, leaned closer, and whispered, "Wanwan, this handsome guy seems to be looking at you."

"No, you must have mistaken me." Song Wan smiled awkwardly, but her eyes were filled with panic. "I'm going to the restroom."

The cold water splashed on her face, and Song Wan shook off her chaotic thoughts. After a while, she wiped her face clean and left.

However, no sooner had she stepped out of the bathroom than she bumped into Chen Jianjin.

He stood casually in the aisle with his hands in his pockets, exuding a suave yet unconventional air, a kind of sophisticated roguish charm.

Song Wan pretended not to see and walked past.

However, Chen Jianjin was not going to let her have her way and grabbed her arm.

"what are you up to?"

Song Wan felt as if she were facing a formidable enemy.

She bristled like a kitten whose tail had been stepped on.

A bitter look flashed in Chen Jianjin's eyes. He took his hand out of his pocket and opened his palm.

It's a panda keychain holding a bamboo shoot.

It was the keychain she liked but missed out on.

With a slight shift in her gaze, Song Wan looked up at him.

Suspicion, astonishment, disbelief... a mix of complex emotions, along with a barely perceptible hint of surprise, were submerged in the clear eyes that had calmed down after the initial surge of emotion.

Chen Jianjin didn't say a word, forced the things into her hands, and then turned and left.

"Wanwan, don't you think...we've seen that handsome guy somewhere before?"

Not long after they sat back down in the theater, Fang Xia once again half-covered her mouth and whispered something in her ear.

The keychain in her pocket and hand was still warm. Song Wan was still in shock and couldn't recover. Hearing this, she replied without much thought, "Maybe."

Fang Xia leaned back in her chair, the more she thought about it, the more familiar it seemed, but she couldn't figure it out.

The seat next to her was empty, and Song Wan's gaze involuntarily fell towards it.

A series of questions swirled in my mind.

How did Chen Jianjin know she wanted that keychain?

Did he follow her the whole time?

Why didn't she notice anything at all?
