Six Days in a Deserted Village (Part 6)
The child's last words got stuck in his throat.
A knife stabbed into his heart, and the hand holding the handle trembled slightly.
The rain poured down like crazy, weighing down my shoulders. Dark clouds enveloped my entire upper body. Black air swept and surged wildly, and the bone-chilling coldness rose from the water level at my knees.
Xu Wei gritted his teeth, held the child's shoulder with one hand, and moved his wrist to push the knife deeper.
The dark clouds continued to swallow down, overflowing the elbows and connecting with the rapidly rising water level.
The raindrops hit the undulating water surface with a crackling sound, splashing water and dripping on the almost stiff human body.
Xu Wei heard a tiny cracking sound in the air.
Immediately afterwards, even louder shattering sounds were heard, as if the sky was smashed and a faint corner was revealed.
Under the falling water droplets, she still couldn't open her eyes. She paused for a moment as she gripped the hilt of the knife, and breathed a sigh of relief.
The rain gradually subsided.
The little boy opened his eyes wide, and his body fell backwards weakly, crashing into the calm water, creating the last ripples.
Xu Wei wiped the water off his face and soaked his whole body. He walked with difficulty in the water and leaned over to tear off a wooden sign from the little boy's neck.
The same familiar "Yue".
She looked at her ancestor's tombstone again, then moved her gaze downward to the grave mound that was half submerged in water.
Before I could even think of digging the grave, I heard a "pop" sound.
His eyes blurred and he appeared on the path again, still holding the slender red statue in his hand, and even his clothes were dry.
The wet feeling had not yet disappeared from his mind, and Xu Wei twisted his back somewhat uncomfortably.
"despair."
“Tick-tick.”
The voice that had been sticking to my back finally appeared in its entirety.
She backhanded the statue and smashed it.
The touch was warm, the protruding ball was still wriggling, and when I hit it, it made a sticky popping sound.
It was a scream that was not human.
The old head was hanging abruptly in the air, with its mouth wide open and cracks at the corners, and its pale pupils staring at her. The slender neck connected to the back of the head and stretched out to the other end of the road, connecting to the hunched body at the corner of the wall.
It was this thing that stretched its neck and stuck to the back of her head, making constant noise interference, causing her to unknowingly walk into the trap.
Xu Wei pulled the statue out of its eye socket, turned his wrist, and began to roll it up along the length of its neck like rolling dough.
After rolling it up, he tied it into a knot around the roadside fence.
After she did all this, she waved towards the darkness.
"You're awesome, boss! You caught this strange thing in the blink of an eye." Lu Qian was the first to jump out and exclaimed in admiration.
He approached the long-necked monster cautiously: "It's worthy of being a ghost story. Just now it was hiding in the corner, its neck stretched longer and longer, following you all the way, it was scary just watching it."
Chen Yu was quite sensitive: "Sister Xu Wei, why did you stop just now? If you had stopped for a while, this thing would have almost hit your head."
From their perspective, Xu Wei was just luring the long-necked ghost to appear, and then he was stunned after walking a distance forward.
The long-necked ghost is a strange story about Zhang Pozi. She was an evil mother-in-law who oppressed her daughter-in-law. After her son died, she was retaliated and could only survive by stealing tributes from the grave. During the Yuezu Festival, she did not participate in the parade because she stole things. She was considered disrespectful to the "gods" and was cursed with hunger. No matter how much she ate, she could not get full and bloated herself to death.
Her ghost appears around the Yuezu Festival. When she sees someone, she stretches her neck and follows behind him, strangling the person with her tongue and then swallowing him whole.
Sun Yi: "You didn't encounter anything else?"
Xu Wei spread out his other palm.
The wooden sign that had been torn off the child's body was lying neatly on top, reminding her of what had just happened.
Not an illusion.
The thing that Zhang Po stole was the tributes in front of the tomb of the Yuezu God, which was consistent with the legend, but there was an extra grandson. According to the nursery rhyme that the child was chanting, she must have killed the grandson at the tomb, most likely because of a fight over food.
Xu Wei frowned.
It seems that if everything that happened on the tomb was a restoration of the facts of that year, Mrs. Zhang, her grandson and the Yue ancestor god should be in different eras and have different identities, otherwise it would be impossible for them to appear in the same frame.
Can......
Except for the material, the wooden plaque on the child is exactly the same as the one in the village chief's house.
The life-guarding tablet of Yue Zu God.
Is it also a copy like the village chief? But they are so poor that they can't even afford food, and they don't have enough food or clothes to wear. Why would they keep the life-saving tablet? If they could sell it, they should have sold it long ago, even if it's worthless...
The wooden plaque in his hand was better preserved than the one owned by the village chief, with not even a scratch on the edges.
It's unbelievable.
She told everyone everything that happened at the tomb, and everyone was shocked by this thrilling experience.
Zhang Hao had volunteered to be the bait before, but now he was obviously scared: "Let's not try the second ghost story, it's too dangerous."
Don't kill yourself trying to find information.
Chen Yu sighed: "But the bracelet hasn't updated the message yet."
On the second day of the copy, they didn't even know what the mission was.
Xu Wei glanced at the statue in his hand and asked: "Does Mrs. Zhang have any grandchildren? How did her son die?"
Sun Yi folded his hands and said, "The villagers didn't dare to mention these two people. I had to use coercion and bribery for a long time before someone revealed a little bit. I can't get the rest. If this clue is important, I will force them to tell me more later."
Xu Wei nodded: "It's troublesome."
As soon as she finished speaking, she lifted up the statue and smashed it to the ground.
There was a loud bang as the ground exploded, and the slender red human figure broke into two pieces.
Lü Qian was so shocked by the sudden change that he jumped up high and hid behind Zhang Hao: "What are you doing? Are you trying to kill yourself?"
If the dungeon boss is the Yuezu God behind the statue, her throw would be like putting her neck under the blade and having it cut repeatedly.
Big guys can't play like this.
Xu Wei waited for a while, but there was no response, so he raised his foot and stepped on it.
The statue rolled on the ground, covered with dust.
"!"
This time, not only Lu Qian, but also Zhang Hao, Sun Yi and Chen Yu hurriedly stepped back and distanced themselves from her.
No one wants to offend the BOSS at the beginning of the copy.
Xu Wei didn't feel anything strange or unusual, as if the statue under his feet was just an ordinary sculpture.
The bracelet didn't move, and no amount of provocation would work.
She sighed for no reason: "I'll go alone from now on."
After saying this, he walked through the crowd and moved forward.
The other players stood there, somewhat at a loss.
Lu Fanye's brows were already knitted together. He said a few words to them and hurriedly chased after them.
*
Xu Wei knew that something was wrong with him.
I felt it as soon as I woke up today - the rage in the warehouse yesterday came out of nowhere.
She asked herself if she was a person who could easily get emotional. If the ghosts imitated her relatives or friends to kill each other, it would be fine, which might really make her angry, but the people those ghosts pretended to be yesterday did not exist at all, not to mention that the reason she was angry at that time was because the copy did not treat people as human beings, and she thought that "it" was humiliating humans.
Outrageous.
Xu Wei didn't know when he had such a strong sense of faith as a human being.
The last time she had such a big emotional fluctuation was in the "Death of Yuhuan" instance, when she was about to die at the hands of Du Xingye. This time, she even crushed these ghosts in terms of strength, but just because she took a few glances at the scene in the warehouse, her anger got the better of her and she started killing people.
She entered this dungeon with the intention of controlling the progress of the entire dungeon, so she took action when she first met the village chief. Even so, she still felt vaguely uncomfortable, after all, these ghosts were like real people, and they would bleed and scream when stabbed by a knife.
So she used her skills to control the two strong men guarding the gate outside the warehouse.
No, I didn't want to alert the enemy.
The initial idea was to let the strong man deal with Zhang Qian who was eyeing her, but why did all the villagers outside the warehouse die in the end?
Something was wrong starting sooner than she thought.
She killed more than a dozen humanoid monsters in the warehouse with a single blow of her knife, and tortured the old man with her anger.
Even though he had trained specifically in the villa's simulation training room, Xu Wei didn't think he could kill a dozen humanoids without any emotional fluctuations.
He just smashed the statue.
Did she really do this voluntarily?
Who is influencing her, or is she still herself?
Xu Wei looked up blankly at the green shade and old houses in front of him, and suddenly felt a sense of unreality.
Where is this?
The chirping of cicadas disappeared, the feeling of the breeze on my face disappeared, and the scorching sun enveloped my body without any warmth.
Why are you here?
She stopped and began to wonder whether what she saw was an illusion or reality.
"Xu Wei!" His elbow was hit hard.
She turned around and looked at the person in surprise.
Perhaps her expression was too obvious, he frowned and asked her for confirmation: "Who am I?"
Xu Wei shook his head and looked at the eyes behind the window of a nearby house: "You are not from the village."
Lu Fanye immediately grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at him: "Look at me."
Xu Wei was not used to being too close to strangers, and wanted to step back, but was restrained again.
She could have broken free, but for some inexplicable reason, she didn't move.
The other party looked a little anxious and was saying something to her that she couldn't understand.
His lips opened and closed, making only a buzzing sound.
Strange outsider.
Xu Wei turned and left.
Her arm was yanked back again, and her whole body was pulled over with great force.
The man hugged her.
He placed his hand in front of her eyes, and the cool breath flowed from his fingertips into her eyes and gradually penetrated deeper.
Xu Wei was forced to nestle in the other's arms, listening to him muttering anxiously. The coolness on her forehead made her dizzy mind much clearer. She felt very comfortable, so she hugged him tightly with her backhand.
The other person's body stiffened, and then he quickly reached out and grabbed the thing she was holding tightly.
The moment the thing slipped away, Xu Wei felt extremely reluctant to let it go and instinctively tried to snatch it back.
Lu Fanye immediately threw the wooden sign far away, then hugged the person in his arms tightly, restraining her with all his strength.
"Remember your anchor? Judge me by your anchor!" He held down her hand as she tried to break away.
Finally, he could hear the other person's voice, but Xu Wei was completely unable to understand what he meant.
"Judge whether I am real or not," Lu Fanye lifted her head, and forced her to look at him with their foreheads pressed against each other. His dark eyes were unusually bright at this moment. "If I am real, then everything now is also real. You are Xu Wei, a player of the Judgment Game, not a villager. We are in a dungeon."
Xu Wei came out of her trance for a moment, opened her mouth to call his name, but couldn't remember what to say.
Suddenly, there was a "bang bang" sound from the distance.
The shouting voice was old and hoarse, carrying the smell of decay and time.
"It's nightfall—"
"Close the doors and windows of each house tightly, hang the god's tablets on the eaves, sprinkle fine salt in front of the door, and remember to light incense to worship the ancestral gods. The fox fairy is about to visit--"
