In fact, Xia Hongdou really wanted to tell Ye Qiu the truth. She felt that if Ye Qiu knew the truth, he would be more likely to accept her.

Ye Qiu was still not sleepy. He quietly got up and tiptoed to Xia Hongdou's room.
Upon entering the room, Ye Qiu saw that Xia Hongdou had her eyes closed and was probably fast asleep.
He looked around and found a white bag next to Xia Hongdou's pillow on the bedside table.
Ye Qiu guessed that the bag belonged to Qingniao, because it was the only bag in the room.
Ye Qiu walked to the bedside and reached for his bag.
But before she could even extend her hand halfway, Xia Hongdou suddenly opened her eyes.
This startled Ye Qiu, who never expected Xia Hongdou to suddenly wake up.
"What are you doing?"
Xia Hongdou asked.
"I came to get Qingniao's bag; there's something I need in it," Ye Qiu said with an awkward smile.
"Oh, you've been up all night, and you only just remembered to get that safety equipment?"
Xia Hongdou gave a half-smile.
"Cough, you misunderstood, it's not about taking that thing."
"What are you taking?" Xia Hongdou sat up.
She was dressed very thinly, in a semi-transparent nightgown, which was barely visible.
Ye Qiu didn't look at it for long and said, "It's a pill. The Bluebird went out and found it for me."
"Oh, really? You've been up all night, and you still have the mind to look for pills?"
As Xia Hongdou spoke, she grabbed Qingniao's bag and put it under the covers.
"Red bean, give it to me, stop fooling around."
"Who's arguing with you? Humph, I'm jealous. You'd better keep me company, or I won't give you the bag."
Xia Hongdou gave a soft hum.
"Then I'll come again tomorrow."
Ye Qiu turned to leave.
"If you dare to leave, I'll eat that pill and make you furious."
Xia Hongdou threatened.
Ye Qiu was both amused and exasperated: "Is this funny?"
"It's up to you to decide. If you've made up your mind, come to my bed. I've warmed you up. You can leave if you want."
Xia Hongdou remained very calm.
