Or perhaps, we are all merely characters controlled by beings from a higher dimension. If a player of a certain character no longer wants to play, or gets tired of playing, then that person will disappear from the world.

Ye Qiu was once again surprised by the Emperor's teacher's idea.
He often saw similar statements on a short video platform when he was in Daxia, but Ye Qiu didn't care.
That hypothesis might exist, but Ye Qiu felt it was too far removed from his own experience.
But now, hearing it from the Imperial Tutor's mouth, Ye Qiu couldn't help but take it more seriously: "What evidence do you have to prove that the phenomenon you described exists?"
"Because everything I've experienced is illogical, it's as if someone found a time loophole and stuffed me in. I seriously suspect that if this world isn't an illusion, then it must be a high-tech system," the Imperial Tutor Yin said with a smile.
Ye Qiu was dumbfounded!
The Imperial Tutor's ideas were too advanced and incomprehensible.
If everything in the world were a game controlled by players, or a huge virtual system, wouldn't that mean that someone could destroy the entire world in the blink of an eye?
"You guessed it, didn't you? So, when you're alive, you don't have to take everything so seriously. Be more carefree, do whatever you want, and try not to show too much ambition," the Imperial Tutor Yin said with a smile.
"Maybe players enjoy seeing their characters dominate the world? Maybe they want their characters to break free of the virtual cage and enter the realm of real living beings?"
"Don't think about it anymore," said the Imperial Tutor. "When I was traversing the river of time, I vaguely heard a loud shout coming from inside. The voice seemed to be questioning someone, asking why they released the ants from their cages and defiled their holy world..."
Upon hearing this, Ye Qiu's expression changed.
Is this just a glimpse of the truth that Imperial Tutor Yin saw?
"Could it be that you're hallucinating?"
"No," said the Imperial Tutor's Consort. "Actually, there are many more things I've seen and heard. Every time I tell someone about them, I inexplicably forget some of them, as if an invisible force is erasing my memories."
Even now, I don't remember much from the past, and I dare not speak of it easily, for fear of forgetting it all.
The world may not be virtual, and we may not be characters in the hands of players, but there is certainly a vast, man-made net covering the world, and the master of this net can easily crush any living being.
"Why are you telling me all this?" Ye Qiu asked.
"Because I wanted to try and see if I could escape from this net by using another method."
"What do you mean?" Ye Qiu finally became interested.
