Chapter Fifteen

Cloud Girl Chapter Fifteen

Xu Xiaomeng's home is by the sea.

Chen Nanyi only realized this later at a joint class event between her economics elective course class and the School of Life Sciences.

Previously, Chen Nanyi's attempt to steal Liu Yuge's boyfriend failed, leaving her with no choice but to "force" herself to attend Liu Yuge's elective economics class.

To put it nicely, she went to class—but later she got lazy, said something, and then stopped going, so she can't really be considered a real student.

Surprisingly, they lacked the romanticism and boundless energy often associated with literature classes.

Chen Nanyi's Chinese Literature Department class was probably full of people who were doing their own research, and Chen Nanyi was much younger, so even though the semester had been going on for a long time, she hadn't encountered any class activities.

Chen Nanyi was quite happy about this.

It's not bad that we go our separate ways after class; at least she can go home and take care of Yi Jing.

When the class that took the elective economics course had a joint event with the class from the School of Life Sciences, Guang Hao, one of the event organizers, invited Chen Nanyi to join. He even joked in public that if she didn't go, it would mean she didn't acknowledge herself as Professor Liu Yuge's student!

After Guanghao said that, Chen Nanyi really had to go.

After all, she had indeed attended Liu Yuge's classes, and Liu Yuge had shown her some appreciation. If this got out, she wouldn't have a good time.

Fortunately, Chen Yiwen agreed to resolve the issue of her surgery fees. Perhaps she also has a natural inclination to enjoy lively gatherings; otherwise, in the past, hearing such "threats" would have only strengthened her resolve not to go.

As things stand now, it's still to my liking, so Chen Nanyi is quite looking forward to this truly meaningful event.

Many students are not going, but for the safety of the students traveling, it is necessary for a teacher to lead the group.

They had originally planned that this time, the counselor from the School of Life Sciences—the same Xu Yingxiang who had been holding onto Chen Nanyi on the main street—would lead the group.

However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Teacher Xu entrusted the student council president, Xu Xiaomeng, who had not originally planned to attend the social event, to take charge—in fact, they did not know that he was the one who had orchestrated this social event.

After that self-inflicted trouble at the city hospital, Xu Xiaomeng decided to give up on that hopeless love.

But for some reason, he always felt a vague sense of resentment and a restless urge to make one last effort.

Just then, a classmate from the School of Economics and Management who had asked about the social event last time asked about it again. Xu Xiaomeng suddenly thought that they might be able to organize a social event with her class—although she wasn't in that class, she thought she could figure out a way to make it happen.

After that, Xu Xiaomeng used extraordinary stamina and time to finalize this social event.

Although he felt uneasy and considered giving up when the time came.

After he actually said he wouldn't go, the matter seemed to be over.

But who could have known that in the end, the teacher had something come up and asked him to take over... Sigh.

In short, despite some twists and turns, Xu Xiaomeng still managed to successfully "meet" with his target.

It was destined.

Before leaving, Chen Nanyi temporarily sent Yi Jing to a special school for a short stay before rushing back.

Chen Nanyi arrived just minutes in the last minute.

She took a deep breath outside the bus and calmly stepped onto the carriage.

The other passengers were either listening to music, playing games, or chatting with each other, busy in their own corners.

Upon boarding the bus, Chen Nanyi looked around and saw that all the seats were taken. Fortunately, no one looked up, otherwise she would have felt a little awkward.

For no apparent reason, Chen Nanyi's eyes were drawn to Xu Xiaomeng, who was making a phone call to reserve a room.

The latter looked up unexpectedly and his gaze met Chen Nanyi's.

Xu Xiaomeng, who was already annoyed by the mistake in booking the hotel, suddenly felt a tightness in her chest, paused for a moment, and subconsciously lowered her head. In an instant, she realized what had happened and was filled with regret.

Looking up again, Chen Nanyi had already found a seat and sat down, turning her head to look at the scenery rushing past outside the window. Xu Xiaomeng could only withdraw her gloomy gaze and sigh silently.

The two classes sat on the bus for a long time, and arrived at their destination, the beach, in just one morning.

After getting off the bus, the sea breeze carrying the smell of salt water hit my face, instantly making me feel refreshed.

Unlike the others who were excited, Chen Nanyi stood alone at a distance, her expression indifferent.

Looking at Xu Xiaomeng's busy figure and her ever-present smile, Chen Nanyi could tell that she was someone who was afraid of being alone.

It is precisely because he fears loneliness that he is so careful to take care of everyone's feelings, for fear of being forgotten or abandoned by others...

Chen Nanyi believes she is never afraid of being alone.

This is why, despite her unhappy life, she was able to survive.

But for some reason, she felt a pang of sympathy for him, who seemed like a fool. There was nothing she could do but look out at the boundless sky.

They had arrived at their destination and were ready to go sightseeing once they checked into their hotel.

However, a small problem arose when checking into the hotel.

There are more girls in the economics elective class and more boys in the life science class.

The room reservation was sufficient—because the owner assured them that there would be empty rooms available when they arrived, which is why Xu Xiaomeng made the reservation.

Now it turns out that there was no such thing, and the boss's initial explanation was just a lie he told to secure this order.

Although no one said it outright, everyone privately blamed Xu Xiaomeng for his incompetence, completely ignoring his busy figure.

Later, when all else failed, everyone had to discuss adding one person to each of the existing double rooms to solve the accommodation problem.

This highlights Chen Nanyi's awkward situation.

The girls in the economics class were all willing to share a room with the girls in the life sciences class, taking up all the rooms, but no one wanted to ask her to join them.

She was originally standing at the very back, and she and another boy happened to fall behind, leaving only one room available.

When the group that had been assigned the tasks saw this, they all laughed.

Some people jokingly suggested that Chen Nanyi and that guy should just stay together, and they could have a successful matchmaking event on the spot.

But Chen Nanyi was always serious and not one to smile, so others were too embarrassed to joke with her. The other guy was also the kind of guy who didn't really stand out. So after they talked for a bit, they each took their bags and went back to their rooms, leaving Chen Nanyi and the other guy sitting in the pavilion outside the hotel.

Although Chen Nanyi is particular, he is also quite easygoing.

She could sleep on any sofa, but it depended on where it was placed—in short, she felt it was impossible for her to share a room with a boy or sleep in a tent on the beach.

She is the kind of person who has a hard time falling asleep, and once she falls asleep, she has a hard time waking up. What she needs most is a private and safe space.

However, there was no other way; she had to choose the lesser of two evils. Chen Nanyi thought that she still had to prepare to sleep in the tent.

They put their luggage away and came out.

Chen Nanyi stood up, about to ask about the tent, when she saw Xu Xiaomeng, who had just run back from the boss.

Chen Nanyi immediately shut up about the embarrassing incident and leaned against the hotel pavilion railing without saying a word.

The group walked out of the pavilion and bumped into Xu Xiaomeng. From a distance, they didn't know what they were discussing. Then Chen Nanyi saw Liu Shixi say a few words to Xu Xiaomeng and then lead the other students to the beach to play. The three of them looked at each other in bewilderment.

Chen Nanyi was not one to talk much, and the other boy was also a quiet person. Finally, Xu Xiaomeng, who had entered the pavilion, coughed calmly and said with a gloomy expression, "Well, Liu just said that because there aren't enough people to stay, they've requisitioned my room too... So, now the three of us have to find new places to stay on our own."

He said this and successfully saw the darkening expressions on Chen Nanyi's and the boy's faces.

"Alright, I know a place where nobody lives. Come with me!"

Trying hard to suppress her excitement, Xu Xiaomeng turned around and smiled, feeling inexplicably refreshed.

Xu Xiaomeng strode ahead, while the boy followed behind, looking utterly defeated.

They probably thought that since it was peak tourist season at this time, there would be no one living there, just a few thatched huts in the dark at night.

Chen Nanyi followed with a nonchalant expression.

She didn't know the classmate Zhou who was traveling with her, but she could still control Xu Xiaomeng's personality, so she didn't have any other ideas about where to stay. She was just glad that she didn't have to stay on the beach.

After walking for quite some time, they gradually moved from the bungalow area into the prosperous Gaobai architectural forest area.

Chen Nanyi and the male classmate became increasingly puzzled as they walked.

As Zhou watched Xu Xiaomeng walk faster and faster until she reached a tall and beautiful seaside villa, and took out her key to open the door, he couldn't help but reach out and stop her.

"What are you doing! Is this the place you found to stay? It must be so expensive..." Zhou asked in surprise. Chen Nanyi also looked at him with a troubled expression, as if she wanted to say something.

Turning around and seeing their surprised expressions, Xu Xiaomeng suddenly broke into a smile, curtsied, and gestured to them in welcome. "Yes, this is the place I found to stay. But it's free, because it's my home. Welcome to my home!"

Xu Xiaomeng's so-called home is a large villa with a back garden.

The main gate faces the sea, and the surrounding area is lined with rows of seaside villas, making it a rare luxury residence in this beach resort area.

Chen Nanyi was better off; by the time she realized what was happening, it was over.

However, Zhou, who was shocked by this, seemed to be unable to understand why Xu Xiaomeng, who seemed to have a pitiful background in everyone's eyes, would have such a wealthy "setup".

This all seems so strange!

However, there was no time for Zhou to think too much. The hotel was far away, and if the three of them walked here and back, it would probably be evening by then—because they had agreed to come on Friday morning and not return to their dorm until noon on Sunday.

In order not to fall behind in the itinerary, they had to hurriedly put down their luggage and rush over to meet up with Liu Shixi and the others.

They were supposed to arrive at the fishing village on time for dinner, and in fact, they were almost there.

Then Liu Shixi and the others called, saying that they were about to start a bonfire dinner—one of the programs they had planned—so they wanted the three of them to "conveniently" pick up snacks and blankets from the bus when they came back. After saying this in a hurry, they hung up the phone.

Such an impolite request caused even Chen Nanyi, who has long suffered from facial paralysis, to twitch uncontrollably.

The frail-looking Zhou was the first to object. "They don't care where we live, and we're not their laborers. I'm not doing this. If we're going to take it, we should all take it together."

He was quite courageous, going straight back to call them to come and get it together, so they could see where this route could "conveniently" take them.

Xu Xiaomeng stopped him, "Don't go back alone. What if they all start talking about you? Why don't you wait here, and I'll go get it!"

Xu Xiaomeng intended to go back to get it, so Chen Nanyi had no choice but to follow. In the end, the thin boy glanced at their noisy figures in the fishing village from afar and could only choose to go back with them to get the things.

Children know best how to bully the weak, and if there is a clearly more mature person leading the charge, it's an even greater form of dominance.

Liu Shixi is like that. She understands those things very well, and with her background, she naturally doesn't need to care about anyone's thoughts no matter where she is.

Of the three of them, none are particularly capable, or rather, they are likely to be of little value in the future. Naturally, no one will take them seriously, and they can be treated arbitrarily.

My younger brother was inexplicably in a very bad mood.

Even though Xu Xiaomeng carried the most and insisted on helping Chen Nanyi with her load, Chen Nanyi's mood didn't improve.

Zhou seemed to have never carried so many heavy objects before, and he looked very strained, walking along the road in a pitiful state.

Chen Nanyi was filled with a mixture of anger and resentment, fueled by exhaustion and other emotions. Only one sentence kept nagging at her: "Your mother went through so much to bring you into this world, not so you could live like this..."

Honestly, she really wanted to shout that at Xu Xiaomeng, but every time she thought about it, she felt that she herself was a little ridiculous, so she could only lower her head and suppress her restless thoughts.

Back near the fishing village, Chen Nanyi had automatically excluded the joy of the bonfire party from her mind.

Alone, gazing at the night view where the sea meets the sky, surrounded by the bustling sounds of shops, the sizzling of seafood on hot plates, and the noise of customers, she could barely make out the rustling of the wind and the gentle lapping of the waves.

Chen Nanyi had her eyes closed, and even without making any movements, one could still sense her unique tranquility and serenity.

Of course, among so many people, no one but Xu Xiaomeng would pay attention.

All emotions seemed to be surging beneath the surface.

Small Theater

Xu Xiaomeng (⊙o⊙): "Hey! Chen Nanyi, your bicycle broke down? Let me give you a ride!"

Chen Nanyi →_→, after a minute of silence, "I just saw it upstairs—you punctured my tires."

Xu Xiaomeng (⊙x⊙;), “Uh… I didn’t do anything right, okay? If I did, would you let me have the same surname as your son?”

Chen Nanyi, "Fine, you're ruthless—hmm, something seems off?"

Xu Xiaomeng, "Hehe, ah... don't hit me! I'm pregnant with your baby!"

Chen Nanyi, "Oh my god..."
