My diary about my youth is finished!

I just looked through some of my previous reflections, and I was filled with mixed emotions.
In April 2022, as I exited the subway, the theme song of Slam Dunk, "Until the End of the World," started playing in my headphones, and memories of my youth flooded back.
So he stayed up all night and wrote the first three chapters.
Then I submitted the manuscript to the editor, and it was accepted smoothly.
The next step is to write the outline and compile the manuscript.
The book was officially published and signed on Qidian.com on May 12, 2022.
It is April 8, 2023, exactly one year later, I have written 1.01 million words.
My first million-word novel is finished.
I did it!
Let me report on the achievements of this book.
As of now, this book has 1,719 bookmarks, with the highest number of subscriptions per chapter being 321 and the average number of subscriptions per chapter being 92.
Many readers are "nurturing" books, and there are serious issues with skipping subscriptions. After Shohoku lost to Hainan, they even lost a number of readers.
Looking at the number of subscribers alone, it is indeed very poor.
However, judging from the ratio of collections to subscriptions, it seems acceptable; the collection-to-subscription ratio is at a normal level for online novels.
For the first 680,000 words of this book, I never took a break or missed a day of updating, consistently writing no less than 4,000 words every day.
But I never got a featured spot.
Qidian's recommendation rules are as follows: During the free period, the number of readers who follow the story is considered. If there are many readers, you will be given the first round of recommendations. If the results are good, there will be second, third, and fourth rounds of recommendations. The later the recommendation, the better the recommendation position.
As for me, even with 210,000 words available for free, I didn't make it into the first round of recommendations for light novels.
There's no way around it; Qidian is the leader in the online literature world, and light novels are currently Qidian's channel with the largest traffic. There are just too many books on the light novel channel, so books that aren't followed by many readers won't be ranked in the first round of recommendations.
After the book reached 210,000 words and started charging for chapters, the recommendation rules changed from those during the free period. The editor said that only books with an average daily subscription of 500 would have a chance to be recommended.
The book currently has an average of 92 subscriptions, and it seems unlikely to ever see a breakthrough.

Although this book did not achieve miraculous results, for me, the fact that I was able to persevere and finish writing it is already a victory!
After careful consideration, I realized that the two most meaningful things I did over the past year were persisting in writing a book and quitting smoking.
I've been smoking for over ten years, and in recent years, due to stress, I've been smoking almost two packs of cigarettes a day.
But after the Chinese New Year in 2022, I said I would quit smoking immediately. The day before I quit, I smoked a pack and a half of cigarettes. The next day, I started to quit.
I just want to be tougher on myself!
I just want to change myself!
Then I started writing this book in April 2022.
Writing a book is really difficult.
I started working in this industry in 2018.
I wrote about many different themes at the beginning, but I couldn't get a contract. In 2019, I finally got a contract with Qidian, but the book flopped, so I abandoned it.
During that time, I wrote about many other topics, but I still couldn't get a contract.
In 2021, I finally managed to get a stock-related novel signed on Qidian, but it was blocked on the very day I signed the contract.
You read that right. The contract was signed this afternoon, and two hours later, the book was gone!
My Dao heart almost collapsed at that time!
Then in 2021 I wrote about many different topics, but I still couldn't get a contract.
Finally, I signed a contract with another free novel platform for a game-themed novel, wrote 560,000 words, and it flopped.
Then, in 2022, I started writing this book on Qidian.
There's a saying circulating among authors: "A million-dollar prize is a sure thing."
I insisted on writing this book to 1 million words, but then they changed their tune and said they earned 1 million!
Waaaaah!
The reason I portrayed Sakuragi Hanamichi as such in this book is because I am a rather thin-skinned person in real life, so I wanted to make Sakuragi Hanamichi a shameless person, and also a bit cunning.
Because it's impossible to achieve in reality, I wanted to realize it through a novel.
That's right, that's exactly it!
Regarding the new book, there are some details that are in the works, but there are still many areas that need improvement. Also, I haven't submitted it to an editor yet, so I don't know if I'll be able to get a contract.
But now that this book is finished, I can devote myself fully to preparing for the new book.
