Chapter 8 Sisters

The next day.

Kanagawa Prefectural Shohei High School.

Class 1, Grade 1.

"Haruko, what's wrong? You look so unhappy."

Matsui, with his thick lips, noticed that something was wrong with Haruko Akagi.

Upon hearing this, Fujii quickly looked over. She seemed to have immediately seen the problem and asked in a low voice, "Haruko, is it because of what happened yesterday?"

"What happened yesterday? What happened yesterday? How come I don't know anything about it?" Matsui looked puzzled, which aroused her strong curiosity.

However, Fujii did not bring up what happened yesterday. Instead, he looked at Akagi Haruko, as if he wanted to keep it a secret for her.

Matsui then asked Haruko Akagi, "Haruko, what happened yesterday?"

Haruko Akagi shook her head sadly, seemingly unwilling to speak.

This really worried Matsui. "Oh dear, what happened yesterday? Are we still best friends?"

Fujii sensed that Akagi Haruko had been hurt, so he asked with concern, "Haruko, did Sakuragi Hanamichi hurt you?"

Haruko Akagi remained silent, but hesitated to speak.

This led Fujii to mistakenly believe that it was Sakuragi Hanamichi, that delinquent, who was the cause of the incident. She angrily said, "Haruko, listen to me, you should tell your brother, Akagi Takenori, about this. Your brother is so tall and strong, and he's the captain of the basketball team. He can definitely teach those delinquents a lesson!"

Matsui exclaimed in shock, "What? Haruko, you were bullied by delinquents? Come on, let's go find your brother."

Fujii nodded in agreement.

Helpless, Haruko Akagi could only say, "Actually, it's not what you think. It has nothing to do with Sakuragi-kun."

Fujii frowned and asked, "If it's not him, then who is it?"

Haruko Akagi instinctively said Rukawa Kaede's name.

Matsui exclaimed in surprise, "What? Rukawa Kaede? Is it the Rukawa Kaede who plays basketball?"

Haruko Akagi sighed: "Yes, it's him."

Matsui asked excitedly, "Oh my god! Did you talk to him? What happened between you two? Did you confess to him?"

At this moment, Matsui seemed to have completely forgotten Akagi Haruko's sad expression just now, and she was completely immersed in the joy of the three words "Rukawa Kaede".

Fujii gave Matsui a gentle nudge and glared at her, saying, "What are you talking about? Can't you see Haruko is sad?"

Matsui's mouth formed an "O" shape in shock, then he cautiously asked, "Haruko, did you confess to Rukawa and get rejected?"

Akagi Haruko: "..."

On the surface, Fujii pretended to be angry and scolded Matsui for asking such a question, but in his heart he was also very curious about the question and looked forward to Akagi Haruko's answer.

Haruko Akagi blushed deeply, and said with extreme embarrassment, "It's not what you think, it's not like that..."

"What happened?"

Matsui and Fujii spoke in unison!

Left with no other choice, Haruko Akagi told her two best friends what had happened the day before.

Logically speaking, such an embarrassing thing should not be told to others.

However, people always have the desire to confide in others, especially when faced with emotional issues. They especially want to talk to their loved ones, even if they don't get an effective solution. At least after talking about it, they feel less depressed.

It must be said that women's storytelling ability and understanding of stories are unimaginable to men.

Fujii asked in shock, "What? You're saying that delinquent Sakuragi Hanamichi is going to beat up Rukawa Kaede for your sake?"

Haruko Akagi quickly waved her hand and corrected him, "Actually, no, it's just that he got very angry when he heard Rukawa call him an 'idiot.' He did curse Rukawa, but he didn't say he was going to beat him up..."

"I didn't expect that Sakuragi Hanamichi, that delinquent, would be so nice to you, Haruko."

Previously, Fujii's biggest worry was that Sakuragi Hanamichi and his gang of delinquents would harm Akagi Haruko.

Fujii continued, "But Rukawa went too far. How could he call you an idiot? You were clearly doing it for his own good!"

Haruko Akagi nodded repeatedly, her eyes reddening. "Yes, yes, that's why I feel so wronged. I'm just concerned about him and doing this for his own good! After all, if he keeps getting into fights, the school will find out sooner or later, and he might be suspended. That would not only affect his own basketball career but also the ranking of the Shohoku team..."

As she spoke, Haruko Akagi began to sob softly.

Seeing this, Matsui comforted her, "Haruko, I don't think Rukawa is that kind of person. He was definitely scolding that delinquent Sakuragi Hanamichi, not you!"

Matsui's words were resounding and powerful!

Even Haruko Akagi was surprised and asked, "Is that so? But I clearly felt that he was looking at me..."

Matsui interrupted Akagi Haruko, turned to Fujii, and asked, "Fujii, isn't Sakuragi Hanamichi a delinquent?"

Fujii replied, "Everyone outside says he's a delinquent, the most famous kind of delinquent."

Matsui confidently reassured Haruko Akagi again, "So, Haruko, don't be sad. Rukawa was definitely cursing Sakuragi Hanamichi back then. He probably didn't want to be teammates with a delinquent like Sakuragi, so he used the word 'idiot,' and 'idiot' definitely referred to Sakuragi. Hmph, a delinquent wants to be teammates with Rukawa? That's wishful thinking!"

While these words did offer some comfort to Haruko Akagi, it must be said that Haruko Akagi found Sakuragi Hanamichi's performance yesterday very heartwarming.

Haruko Akagi then defended Hanamichi Sakuragi, saying, "Actually, Hanamichi Sakuragi is a pretty good person, not like that kind of delinquent."

Matsui waved his hand and said, "Haruko, if you ask me, you should stop worrying about that Sakuragi Hanamichi. It's obvious now that Rukawa didn't scold you, so you don't need to be sad. Besides, your brother is the captain of the basketball team, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to get to know Rukawa in the future. Maybe Rukawa will even take the initiative to explain what happened yesterday to you."

As he spoke, Matsui even pretended to look like a lovesick fool.

Fujii and Haruko Akagi were both amused by Matsui's appearance.

But Matsui immediately added seriously, "However, Haruko, I'll be competing with you then, because Rukawa is also my idol! Wow! Just thinking about Rukawa makes me so excited..."

Fujii and Akagi Haruko both gave each other disgusted looks. "You infatuated girl! Get away from me!"

The three of them burst into laughter.

The deeper the love, the more intense the pain. Rukawa Kaede was practically a god in Akagi Haruko's heart, but Akagi Haruko never expected that her god would treat her like this.

Haruko Akagi is in great pain!

Even though Rukawa called her an "idiot" yesterday, she still harbored a fantasy that Rukawa was actually calling Sakuragi Hanamichi a idiot, not her.

There was no way around it; Rukawa Kaede had taken root in her heart, and it would be difficult to uproot him in a short time!

So after hearing her good friend Matsui express the same opinion, Haruko Akagi did feel less upset.

But another voice inside Akagi Haruko's head was telling her, "Rukawa Kaede is insulting you! In his eyes, you're just an idiot!"

Then another voice said, "Perhaps Rukawa will come to apologize to you next?"

Then another voice said, "Actually, Sakuragi Hanamichi is quite good too. He might be the one who's right for you."
