Chapter 283 I haven't seen her for three months, I miss her
It was the next day when the ship docked.
Li Island was smaller than Lin Yan had imagined, and the dock was simple with only a concrete platform.
The island is not much developed, with only a few winding roads and some low buildings.
Song Yanzheng took her to a wooden house facing the sea.
Pushing open the door, it is a single room. The furnishings in the room are simple but clean, with a bed and a table. The most eye-catching thing is the huge floor-to-ceiling window, which overlooks the beach and the sea.
"Yan Yan, isn't the scenery beautiful?" Song Yanzheng's voice was hoarse, probably because he didn't get enough rest at night.
Lin Yan didn't look at him, her eyes fell on the surging sea outside the window: "I want to see Xing Yingxue."
"She's fine."
"I want to see her." Lin Yan repeated in a firm tone.
Song Yanzheng was silent for a few seconds, and finally nodded: "Then come with me."
Lin Yan followed him around to another room at the back of the house.
The door was not locked and opened with a gentle push.
The room was dark, the curtains were drawn tightly, and only a tiny slit let in a little light.
After opening the door, the light from outside poured in and shone on Xing Yingxue.
She sat on the edge of the bed with her back to the door.
Hearing the noise, she did not turn around, but just maintained her original posture, as if her soul had already been withdrawn.
Song Yanzheng walked in, stopped behind her, and said coldly: "Are you feeling better?"
Xing Yingxue ignored it, as if she didn't hear it.
Song Yanzheng frowned and turned to look at Lin Yan: "Yan Yan, did you see it? She didn't..."
Before he could finish his words, Xing Yingxue suddenly jumped up from the bed like a lion that was suddenly enraged. A pair of scissors appeared in her hand and she stabbed Song Yanzheng in the back.
Song Yanzheng staggered forward.
He frowned, turned around and pushed her away. Lin Yan noticed a conspicuous bloodstain on the back of his gray sweater.
Xing Yingxue's back hit the wall heavily, making a dull sound.
She held on to the wall to steady herself, her eyes filled with bloodshot, staring at Song Yanzheng intently, but without saying a word.
Song Yanzheng remained unusually calm, ignoring the injury on his back. When his gaze fell on Xing Yingxue, there was no trace of anger, only numbness and indifference. "Are you discouraged?"
As he spoke, he bent down and picked up the blood-stained scissors that had fallen on the ground.
He walked up to Xing Yingxue and stuffed the scissors into her trembling hand, then held her wrist and forced her to raise the scissors and point them at her chest.
"Not discouraged?" He raised his eyebrows: "Then continue."
Xing Yingxue's hands were shaking so badly that her knuckles turned white from exertion.
She looked at Song Yanzheng's face so close to her and wished she could cut him into pieces.
The next second, without any hesitation, he closed his eyes and stabbed the scissors again.
However, when the scissors fell, she subconsciously retracted her strength.
Nan Xin was still in his hands, so she didn't dare to kill him.
The wound was shallow, and Song Yanzheng's body stiffened for a moment: "Are you coming again?"
The scissors slipped from her hands, and Xing Yingxue collapsed on the bed exhausted. She was smiling at herself, but tears suddenly flowed out without warning.
She was not crying for Song Yanzheng, nor was she crying for herself. She just felt that a huge absurdity and powerlessness were overwhelmed her.
She slowly raised her head, looked at Song Yanzheng, and said dully: "Song Yanzheng... I don't ask for anything now, I only ask you... let me see Nan Xin... I want to know if she is okay... I haven't seen her for three months... I miss her..."
Song Yanzheng said without any emotion: "She has someone to take care of her in Jingbei, you don't have to worry. Just stay here honestly, and I will let you go when the time comes."
After saying that, Song Yanzheng left.
When passing by Lin Yan, Song Yanzheng said to her: "Yan Yan, I'll go take care of the wound first."
After Song Yanzheng left, the two bodyguards guarding the door did not leave.
Lin Yan stood there for a while before walking over and sitting down on the edge of the bed.
Looking at Xing Yingxue's haggard and lifeless appearance.
My throat feels tight.
I wanted to say something, but found that all the words seemed pale and powerless.
Both of them were dragged into the quagmire by the same man. At this moment, any comfort would be like scratching an itch through a shoe, and silence would be more real.
Lin Yan sat quietly beside her bed. After an unknown amount of time, Xing Yingxue finally spoke: "Lin Yan, I was too hostile to you in the past. I apologize... Can you promise me one thing?"
"Tell me." Lin Yan turned her head and looked at her: "What's the matter?"
Xing Yingxue's gaze shifted to her hands, which were still stained with blood that had not been wiped clean.
She gently curled her fingers and said, "If anything happens to me, please take good care of Nan Xin. You and my brother have such a good relationship, I want my daughter to grow up in a loving environment... Lin Yan, please..."
Xing Yingxue's words were a trust, but they sounded more like a last will.
After the torture, Lin Yan thought she had lost her desire to live.
She deliberately refused: "Take care of your own daughter. I hate Song Yanzheng. Why should I help you take care of your daughter? Besides, it's unknown whether I can leave. Don't count on me."
Xing Yingxue smiled, leaning her head against the wall and closing her eyes. "Song Yanzheng will let you leave safely, because... he won't live long anyway..."
Lin Yan was stunned: "Not long to live? What does that mean?"
Xing Yingxue said calmly, "I've known for a while that something wasn't right with him. He's had headaches for a while, and I even found some painkillers at home. But when I asked him, he said he was just too tired... I didn't think much of it."
"But I've noticed he looks very strange lately. Yesterday, when Dr. Ruan was treating my wound, I managed to get some information out of him... Song Yanzheng is indeed ill. He has advanced glioma cancer, and it's been six months. His father also passed away from this disease..."
Lin Yan was stunned.
Advanced cancer...
She now understood what he meant by staying with him for a few months.
It turns out that his life is already counting down.
The sound of waves outside the window seemed to become particularly loud, invisibly beating Lin Yan's heart.
He deserves to die and is hateful.
But when I heard the news, I couldn't help but feel regretful and emotional.
…
At night, moonlight poured in from the window. Lin Yan lay in bed, unable to fall asleep.
Song Yanzheng's illness and Xing Yingxue's instructions kept circling in her mind, making her feel confused.
She didn't know how long she had been holding on, but just when her consciousness was about to blur.
A gunshot rang out in the night, startling the seabirds outside the window and making them fly away.
Lin Yan's nerves instantly tensed up and she lost all desire to sleep.
He sat up from the bed reflexively.
She moved to the window and looked out.
In the moonlight, the beach glowed with a cold white light.
There was a new boat at the dock not far away.
There were about a dozen people walking towards her.
Although far away, Lin Yan recognized the man in the lead at a glance.
"elder brother……"
