Chapter 14: It Will Disappear

Su He turned to look at him, looking angry. "You're willing to put yourself in danger for her, right? You feel sorry for her, but who will feel sorry for you? She just stood there crying the whole time and never thought of helping you!"

Gu Xuran was stunned, as if a little surprised by her words. He thought that he just saw it by chance, and helped him block the punch just on impulse, but the girl's accusations at this time made him speechless.

She thought of how he rushed out and blocked a punch for her without hesitation, and how sad he looked when he left. He suddenly realized that this girl treated him differently.

A hint of excitement surged in his heart, but at the moment he was still unsure of his feelings for her. He couldn't promise her anything, so he could only comfort her softly: "Don't cry, okay? I won't cry again in the future, don't worry."

Su He lowered her head and said nothing. He looked at her quietly, and when he thought of her swollen face, he felt even more guilty.

After an unknown amount of time, Su He finally raised his head and continued to look at the lake in the distance, with no light in his eyes.

Gu Xuran suddenly remembered the first time they met. The girl was full of energy. Her shy look and the way she turned around and ran away made him feel beautiful.

But now there was no light in the girl's eyes, and he only felt a little pain in his heart.

He spoke uncertainly: "Su He, shall we go to the infirmary? Your face is swollen and needs treatment." He looked so cautious, as if he was afraid that the person in front of him would refuse.

Su He didn't say anything. He was a little nervous, standing there watching her, afraid she'd leave. He felt so unfamiliar with that uncertainty, as if she would fly away if he let go, and he'd never find her again.

After a while, Su He said, "You go, I will go back with Yan Cuo." Then he turned and left. He wanted to say something else, but he didn't know how to start.

He was deeply moved by the girl, but now he couldn't clearly understand whether it was emotion or love. He had to wait until he could clearly understand it before he could make a promise to a girl.

He kept watching the girl's back as she left, until the figure became smaller and smaller and disappeared from his sight, then he turned around and left.

The days that followed were very peaceful. Su He stopped looking for him. She stayed with Su He all day long, going to and from get out of class, and even going to the bathroom together.

The classmates all said that they were like conjoined twins, but she just smiled.

She began to try to smile every day as before, and finally stopped thinking about him so often. He seemed to have disappeared from her life.

The days passed like this, peaceful and fulfilling.

Every time Yan Cuo looked at her and smiled, his expression was complicated. She was not blind, she had seen it many times, it was always that figure, looking at Su He from a distance, every time just looking at her like that, and then turning around and walking away without waiting for her to turn her head. Yan Cuo noticed it several times, but did not say anything.

She didn't know what kind of feelings Gu Xuran had for Su He, nor did she know how to help her, so she could only choose to accompany her quietly.

Everything seemed to have returned to the way it was before. They spent their days studying and living, their lives simple yet fulfilling. Su He seemed to be much better now. Although she still had moments of daze, she would react quickly and pretend nothing had happened.

She always looked at her and smiled, but that smile did not reach her eyes, like a well-behaved rag doll. She knew that she was forcing herself, and it hurt to see her, and she wanted to help her, but she always smiled and said that she was fine.

After crying, she seemed to have grown up a lot. She no longer dared to covet people who did not belong to her, nor did she dare to covet things that did not belong to her. This unrequited love would eventually disappear slowly with time. She always thought so. Anyway, every disappointment was like a catalyst, making her let go of him a little more, until he completely disappeared from her world.

At this time, Su He didn't know that soon, that person would suddenly wake up, finally dare to face his feelings, and finally understand who was the one in his heart. Time is long, and a person's memory may slowly fade away, but it may also become more profound.
