The moment Yan Cuo spoke, Yu Hui and Zhong Hongmei were both stunned. Yu Hui's reaction was a bit too big and she burst into tears unconsciously.
She looked at Yan Cuo in disbelief, seeing how she looked at Haohao with gentleness and patience, and how cautious she was, treating him with care and attention.
Yu Hui wiped away her tears with her hands and looked at her: "Yancuo, are you really willing to acknowledge this brother? Do you still hate your mother?"
Yan Cuo turned around and looked at her with tears streaming down her face. He was touched and his expression was a little torn, but he still managed to control it well.
She played with the child's fingers in her arms and said in a light voice, "He is innocent, and I like him very much. There is no need to involve a child in the past grudges. Let him grow up happily."
Yu Hui nodded woodenly, her eyes red, and there was more pride in her eyes besides guilt.
This is my own child, so obedient and sensible. She is so good, so good that I almost feel guilty and ashamed.
I have lived for so many years, but I am not as insightful as a child.
She didn't say anything else, but her eyes were always on her. Haohao was very well behaved in her arms and didn't make a fuss like usual. Yancuo also gave him twelve points of patience and kept paying attention to him.
Haohao was still very young, and after playing with Yancuo for a while, he felt sleepy and fell asleep in her arms. He looked adorable when he was asleep, with a chubby face that made people want to pinch it. Yancuo looked at him sleeping soundly, resisted the urge, and followed his aunt to put him in the room, letting him have a good sleep.
Yan Cuo knew that the woman outside had something to say to her, but she couldn't guess the details, nor did she want to guess.
I am already an adult, and I have been separated from her for too many years. In fact, there is no longer much deep affection between us. If it were not for the blood relationship, they would have become strangers long ago.
Yan Cuo didn't know what she was thinking. She had rarely appeared in recent years, but every time she appeared, she looked like a loving mother. She didn't dislike it, but she didn't like it either.
As for Yan Bing, he had long disappeared from his life. To him, he might have been the biggest burden. Now he felt truly relieved.
Zhong Hongmei looked at her worried look, patted her shoulder, and comforted her: "Your mother wants to talk to you. If you don't want to see her again, I will let her go. It's up to you. You are grown up now and have the right to make your own decisions."
Yan Cuo raised his head and smiled at her: "It's okay, aunt, we've already met, there's nothing to be afraid of."
As they were talking, they had already walked into the living room. Yu Hui was sitting on the sofa, feeling a little uneasy. Seeing her coming, she called out softly, "Yan Cuo."
Yancuo didn't respond, but sat down on the sofa, waiting quietly for her to speak.
Yu Hui originally planned to let her speak first, but the atmosphere was too awkward, so she couldn't hold back and spoke first.
"Yancuo, I heard that you were admitted to Ancheng University with excellent grades. Mom wanted to come and congratulate you."
"Well, I received your congratulations. Is there anything else?" Yan Cuo's voice was calm, but there was no impatience on his face. Yu Hui thought about the words, and then saw Yan Cuo stand up. "If there is nothing else, I will leave first."
Yu Hui quickly stood up and took her hand, "Yan Cuo, Mom just wanted to come and see you, to see if you're doing well. Mom misses you."
Yan Cuo didn't turn around. He listened to the woman behind him speaking cautiously, which was also a bit flattering. His expression changed slightly, and then he let go of her hand.
"Now you see, I'm doing fine, you don't have to worry."
Yu Hui wanted to say something, but she saw her figure walking quickly past her. She was startled, and when she spoke again, there was some sadness in her voice.
"Yanyan, can you call me mom again?"
Yan Cuo paused, her small shoulders trembling slightly. Listening to the woman's tearful voice behind her, her heart was touched, but she forced herself not to turn around. She took a long breath and before going up the stairs, Yu Hui heard her answer.
"Is it still necessary? I've lived well without you all these years. Now that you have Haohao, you should treat him better and don't let him go through what I went through. Just treat it as your share of mine and give it all to him."
Yu Hui chased after her unwillingly, grabbed her hand, and asked with some desire, "Mommy, can you hug me again?"
Yan Cuo did not refuse. He turned around and hugged her. She felt the woman's body was a little stiff, so she quickly let go and went upstairs.
Yu Hui still maintained the same posture, but her head was empty and tears flowed unconsciously.
My daughter is really a warm child. Even though I treat her like this, I still don’t want to make myself sad and still want to warm myself up.
She is like an angel, incredibly beautiful.
Zhong Hongmei didn't come out until Yan Cuo disappeared at the stairs. Seeing Yu Hui's distraught appearance, she pulled her to sit on the sofa with some sympathy.
"How did the talk go?"
Yu Hui suddenly smiled. She wiped away her tears carelessly, then looked at Zhong Hongmei excitedly: "Yan Cuo just hugged me, really, she hugged me. Does this prove that she doesn't hate me that much anymore? Is it possible that she will forgive me?"
Seeing her like this, Zhong Hongmei felt a little complicated. After so many years of getting along with each other, she knew Yan Cuo's temper. She didn't want to hurt anyone. This action might just be to comfort the sad Yu Hui.
But she didn't say it out loud, her tone was a little complicated, "Maybe."
Yu Hui suddenly seemed to have regained strength. She held Zhong Hongmei's hand tightly and said, "Thank you, Hongmei. I won't give up. Thank you for teaching Yancuo so well."
"Yan Cuo is a good child. She works hard and is polite to others. Everyone praises her." Zhong Hongmei said. She understands Yan Cuo's efforts better than anyone else. She is an excellent child.
Yu Hui nodded repeatedly, "You are right, but I still want to thank you. You have given a lot to her."
"We did it all voluntarily and willingly. Yancuo is like our own child to us, and we have placed many hopes on him."
Yu Hui said nothing more. She took out an envelope from her bag and handed it to her. "Hongmei, I know you treat her well, but going to college is a lot of money after all. I can't not care about it at all. This is a little gift from me. Keep it for Yancuo, and don't tell her it's from me."
This is all I can do for her now, and it will make me feel a little better."
Zhong Hongmei pushed and shoved several times, then saw Yu Hui's eyes reddened: "Hongmei, just have pity on me. I really want to atone for my sins. Apart from this, I really don't know what to do."
Zhong Hongmei sighed and accepted it. "Then I'll keep it with her for now. I'll give it to her when she goes to school."
Yu Hui kept nodding, holding her hand and saying thank you.
