Seeing her like that, Yan Cuo couldn't help but laugh, "This mountain may look beautiful, but it actually hides many dangers. Many flowers that look beautiful are actually not to be touched, and some can't even be smelled."
Su He was stunned when he heard this, "There are flowers that I can't smell?"
Yan Cuo nodded and recalled, "When I was a child, my grandmother told me that there was a kind of flower on the mountain that you could only look at, not touch or smell, otherwise your nose would rot. There was a person in our village who seemed to have smelled this flower and his nose rotted away. There was only a hole where the nose should be. It was really scary.
So when we were little, kids here didn't dare to go up the mountain casually, because if we weren't careful, we could get into danger. My grandmother scared me when I was little, just like you do now. I rarely went up the mountain, and even if I did, it was with her.
"Then how do you know that this flower cannot be touched?" Su He asked doubtfully, still a little scared when he thought of the scene just now.
"The flowers you just saw are very common in the mountains. They are particularly gorgeous when they bloom, but you can't touch them. They are said to rot if you touch them."
Su He shuddered with fear and obediently put his hand away. "Then I won't dare touch it again. It's too scary."
Seeing her like this, Yan Cuo smiled and comforted her, "It's not that scary. There are still many good things. When I was a child, I often picked wild fruits in the mountains to eat. They tasted like those you couldn't get in the city."
Su He was a little excited, "Where are the wild fruits? I haven't seen any."
Yan Cuo looked around and waved his hand, "This place has been developed, so there shouldn't be any left. I haven't seen any yet. If I see any later, I'll tell you."
Su He nodded excitedly, looking at Yan Cuo with some admiration, "Yan Cuo, you know so much."
Yan Cuo looked at her calmly, "I grew up here, so of course I know a little bit about it. It's nothing."
The four of them walked along the way and when they reached halfway up the mountain, they heard the sound of water. Following the sound, they saw a clear spring flowing slowly in the mountains. Yan Cuo caught a handful of water and washed his face, feeling cool and comfortable.
They all followed her example to fetch water. The water on the mountain was icy cold and very clear, and it felt refreshing when it splashed on the face. Occasionally, bursts of bird calls could be heard from the forest. This place was truly like a paradise, quiet and comfortable, making people feel as if they had no worries and only a resonance with the world.
They continued to walk upward, feeling the fresh mountain air and occasionally spotting a few plants they had never seen before, all with a strange and novel look. They seemed to feel no fatigue along the way and soon reached their destination.
The mountain was so high that it felt as if there was no bottom to see. All the buildings looked as tiny as ants. They found a relatively clean spot to stop and set up camp. The two boys were studying the instructions while the two girls put down their luggage and cleaned the area carefully.
The tent was very big, and it took the two boys a while to complete one by working together. Yan Cuo saw that they were all sweating profusely, and quietly called Su He to walk towards the mountains.
Su He asked her with some confusion, "Where are we going?"
Yan Cuo raised the kettle in his hand and said, "Let's go get some water. They must be tired from setting up the tent. It would be nice to wash their faces."
Su He nodded and followed her down the mountain obediently, "Where are we going to get water?"
Yancuo pointed ahead, "Do you hear the sound of water?"
Su He leaned forward to listen, and indeed, she heard the sound of flowing spring water. Excited, she walked forward and saw a spring, where water was constantly bubbling out. The water was so clear that she could see the bottom. She quickly caught some water with her hands and splashed it on her face, feeling the coolness immediately.
She seemed to have thought of something and looked up at Yancuo, "Can I drink this water?"
Yan Cuo nodded, filled the kettle with water, shook it, rinsed it, and then poured it out, then filled the kettle again. Su He took the water with both hands, leaned in and drank slowly.
Su He took a sip and looked at Yan Cuo in surprise, "This water is sweet."
Yan Cuo said without surprise, "Mountain spring water is naturally sweet. This is a taste that children in the city can't experience. Do you think this trip is worth it?"
Su He nodded repeatedly, drank a few more sips, and then followed Yan Cuo back.
When they returned to the top of the mountain, the two boys had already set up their tents. Seeing them coming back, they quickly greeted them, "You two girls, share a tent, and we two boys will share one. Be careful when you go to the bathroom at night, there might be bugs and the like."
They all agreed, and then called them over, "Come and drink some water and wash your faces." Then they divided the water in the kettle into two, poured it into cups, and gave it to them.
Yu Muyang took the water cup and drank it with a gulp, his Adam's apple moving. Looking at Yan Cuo, he blushed a little. Looking at his bright red lips, he couldn't help but think of the scene of their first kiss.
Yan Cuo's face slowly turned red, and she unconsciously turned her head away, not looking at the scene in front of her. Yu Muyang saw that she was blushing, and he had some thoughts of teasing her. He walked quietly behind her and covered her eyes with his hands. He pinched his throat and asked her, "Guess who I am?"
Yan Cuo was amused by his childish behavior and pretended to guess, "Are you Gu Xuran?"
Yu Muyang let go of her all of a sudden, "You can't even recognize my voice." He looked at her with some annoyance, rarely showing such a childish look, and acted coquettishly with Yan Cuo to his heart's content.
