With the start of school comes the first monthly exam of the senior year. However, the exams in the senior year are basically a small test every few days and a big test every week. Everyone has gotten used to it. Every day, looking at the thick test papers handed by the teacher, the students sigh deeply and then continue to fight.
This year, there was practically no extracurricular time. Everyone felt like their butts were glued to their seats, sitting for over ten hours at a time. Every day, the classroom was a sea of darkness, everyone with their heads down, busy with their own tasks, whether it was homework or tests.
The boys in the class who were usually noisy became much quieter and quietly put all their energy into studying. The learning atmosphere was particularly strong for a while, and the head teacher looked very satisfied when he came to see them.
If there was one thing that was strange, it was that after the start of this semester, they rarely saw Xu Lin during evening study. He was still the same as before, attending classes and leaving during the day, and never staying at other times. No one knew where he went. The class would occasionally chat privately, but no one knew his whereabouts. Yan Cuo would occasionally hear a few words about him, but he would quickly ignore them.
It would be better for them to be strangers. Without any ties, there would be no troubles and no guilt.
Yes, after rejecting him several times, Yan Cuo actually felt a little guilty. She didn't know where this guilt came from, but she would feel a little apologetic when she occasionally saw him looking distraught.
Or maybe Xu Lin has really changed, he is no longer the same as before, he is better and braver now, but I shouldn't pin his feelings on myself, it is doomed to have no response.
Yancuo would sometimes stare at the empty seat in a daze, but would quickly react and do his own thing.
Just as strange as Xu Lin was Xu Xiaoxiao. Several girls in the class had discussed her privately, saying she seemed like a completely different person this year. She no longer had that domineering aura. She was usually extremely silent, sometimes so quiet that others ignored her presence.
She has become very quiet now, pays close attention in class, and her grades have improved a lot. Several of her close classmates said that she seemed to have disappeared throughout the summer vacation. She refused to go out when anyone asked her out, and no one knew where she went.
If you observe carefully, you will find that she always looks at someone secretly, with a cautious look that has never been seen on her face before. She will stare at him in a daze, and then when his eyes are about to meet hers, she will quickly turn her head away.
She didn't dare to look him in the eye, she couldn't accept the slightest indifference in the boy's eyes. But after turning her head, she would think, what is this, peeping?
She used to be such a proud person. She never thought that she would become like this because of a boy, being cautious and timid, and not even daring to talk to him.
She studied hard, signed up for cram schools, spent the entire summer studying, and wrote countless test papers. Only when the teachers praised her and said that her grades were getting better and better did she feel a little relieved.
But she still didn't dare to relax at all. The boy she liked was so outstanding, good in every way. He looked like a god, and the light he emitted was enough to illuminate her insignificance and her unbearableness.
Even the girl she liked was so outstanding and worked so hard to exist. She sometimes thought that if he liked hardworking and outstanding girls, she would change and become the type he liked.
This way, he will always look at himself.
There was such a huge distance between them. I wanted to work harder and harder to catch up with him, but sometimes I would feel dazed. What would be the point even if I caught up with him?
He is good in every way except that he doesn't love her.
She could see that he was occasionally distracted, and that his eyes often lingered on Yan Cuo. She didn't want to admit it, but she knew in her heart that she was jealous of Yan Cuo, jealous to the point of madness.
Why, why am I not the one who is loved?
She watched Yan Cuo reject him again and again, and saw that he became more and more depressed. He was no longer as chatty and cheerful as when he first came.
No one knew that Xu Xiaoxiao's only love was with that boy who had a faint smile and looked sunny.
Even though his smile was always faint, as if it couldn't reach the bottom of her heart, so what? It was that smile that captured her heart, made her infatuated and obsessed, and started a relationship that might end before it even began.
She had secretly followed her out a few times. He was becoming quieter now. Every evening, he would walk out of the school gate alone and head towards a bar. She followed him all the way, watched him go in, and then started drinking, one glass after another, as if it would never stop.
He has a good alcohol tolerance and no matter how much he drinks, he always looks sober. He always refuses the waiter's help and staggers away alone to the small house he rents.
By the way, he didn’t live on campus this semester and rented a house near the school.
He was the only one in the class who did not live on campus. Because of his excellent grades, the head teacher turned a blind eye and let him go.
But Xu Xiaoxiao was unhappy. She had rarely seen him to begin with, and now he was nowhere to be seen every night. She was always inevitably distracted and couldn't help but look towards where he was. She even wanted to take a closer look at his homework book and keep it in her hands for a while longer, as if possessed by a ghost.
She was very careful and no one in the class noticed her secret crush. She thought that she was successful. At least, if she failed, she would not be so embarrassed.
