Chapter 5 Ripples

Chapter 5 Ripples

Very close to her.

Han could even smell the fresh scent of grass and wood, and a light, pleasant perfume on the other person.

Han frowned, instinctively took a few steps back, and looked at him carefully again, feeling that he looked somewhat familiar.

He was tall, with broad shoulders and long legs, and his windbreaker was half open, with the sleeves fluttering in the wind.

He has a strong aura and a gentle and polite look, showing his good upbringing.

After a moment of hesitation, she remembered that this was the one she had really seen.

Han thought so and couldn't help but curl his lips and smile.

"Excuse me, are you waiting for me?" The other party raised his eyebrows and asked again.

"You are Gu..." Han folded his arms and took a step back. He paused and pretended that he couldn't remember the name.

"Gu Ningwei."

Gu Ningwei opened the WeChat chat interface and handed it to her, "Here, take a look."

Han Que's gaze shifted from his face to the phone screen, which displayed a WeChat chat dialog box with Lu Xiaoping. "Brother Ning Wei, I've had a little too much to drink. I'll send my girlfriend down to pick you up right away."

There was also a blurry photo of Han's back attached, and it was obvious at a glance that it was taken when she just walked out of the private room.

Han suddenly realized and breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh, that's good."

The street light reflected on the other person's face, which was white and transparent, with three-dimensional features, deep eyebrows and eyes, and a calm and gentle look. The sharp and cold look from last time was well concealed, maintaining a well-educated and polite look.

Han lowered his eyes silently, "Then... let's go up, Lu Xiaoping is waiting."

Gu Ningwei narrowed his eyes slightly, nodded, and whispered, "Thank you, please come down to pick me up."

After saying that, he frowned and looked at her doubtfully: "Lu Xiaoping said, you are her girlfriend?"

Seeing Han frowning, he smiled and seemed to explain: "Then how should I call you?"

"My name is Han Que." Han Que's voice was calm and gentle.

"But?" Gu Ningwei turned his head sideways. "Which word is it?"

"It's the word that comes to mind." Han Que's flat voice sounded like he was reciting, not caring at all whether the other party understood or not.

"Oh..." Gu Ningwei smiled. He put his hands in the pockets of his windbreaker and raised his head slightly, revealing his delicate jawline. His eyes drifted to the cherry blossoms under the tree, which were like snow. He murmured, "There is no way to get rid of this feeling. It has just left my brow, but it is still on my mind."

He turned to look at her again and asked with a smile, "Is that the one?"

Han Que: ...

Her cheeks were slightly hot, and to hide it, she had to repeat it again: "Let's go up."

After saying that, he turned around and walked towards the gate of Xilanfang.

Gu Ningwei shrugged and followed her.

The private room was still filled with smoke and the atmosphere was lively.

Lu Xiaoping lay on the sofa by the door, groaning. The young lady who had knocked over the bottle was sitting next to him. She wiped his forehead with a tissue in one hand and tugged at his arm with the other, crying and apologizing coquettishly. "I'm sorry, Mr. Lu, I really didn't mean it. Please be so magnanimous, don't embarrass me. This bottle of wine is so expensive, it's enough for my living expenses for a month. How can I afford to compensate you?"

Lu Xiaoping lay on his back, closed his eyes and hummed, "Can't afford to pay? This is your monthly living expenses? A month's living expenses are just a few dollars. Who would believe it if you told me that? Don't act pitiful in front of me. Who are you trying to fool? I don't even know who you are... Humph."

The young lady was stunned for a moment, then leaned closer and whispered, "I'm really not pretending to be pitiful in front of you. To be honest, the situation has been very tense these past few months. Customers haven't come much, and even if they do, they're reluctant to spend. We can't get any commission, and we can't even make ends meet."

Lu Xiaoping snorted again. "Whether you get the commission or not is none of my business, but you knocked over the wine I opened today before I even had a sip. I had to open another bottle. Do you think you did it on purpose? I don't care. You have to find a way to compensate me for the bottle of wine today, or I'll talk to your manager."

"Oh, no, please don't go looking for our manager, or I'll have a rough life," the young lady grabbed his hand and shook it, saying in a disgusted voice, "I can't take out the money. Otherwise, Mr. Lu, how do you want me to compensate you? As long as I don't pay you, I can do whatever you want."

As she spoke, her fingers slid down Lu Xiaoping's arm, all the way to his chest, and tapped it gently a few times.

Lu Xiaoping didn't stop him. He closed his eyes and continued to hum and laugh: "You said it, you can do whatever I tell you to do. Don't regret it later."

"I don't regret it." The young lady giggled.

Han was embarrassed and coughed heavily a few times.

Lu Xiaoping looked back and sobered up. He turned over and got up. He grabbed Han Que's wrist and stammered, "Han Que, I was just joking with her..."

Han broke free from his hand, stepped aside to let Gu Ningwei behind him, and reminded him, "Your important guest has arrived."

Lu Xiaoping wanted to say something, but Han stopped him with his eyes and said in a cold tone, "Entertain the guests first."

Lu Xiaoping struggled to stand up shakily, leaned over and hugged Gu Ningwei, shaking his shoulders: "Brother, brother, it really is you, we haven't seen each other for a long time, I really miss you so much..."

Gu Ningwei reached out and supported him, "It's been a while since we last met. Sit down first, let's sit down and talk."

He watched the staggering Lu Xiaoping sit back on the sofa.

Lu Xiaoping sat down and chatted with Gu Ningwei for a few words. Gu Ningwei responded with a faint smile, maintaining his good manners.

Lu Xiaoping enthusiastically raised his glass to toast, but found no clean glasses on the table. He turned around and scolded the young lady next to him, "Hey, where's the glass? Hurry up and bring a clean glass over! Such an important guest has arrived, and you haven't greeted him quickly? You have no sense at all, you just talk nonsense..."

The young lady had already secretly looked at Gu Ningwei. At this moment, she quickly took out a clean wine glass and handed it over respectfully, with an even brighter smile on her face.

Lu Xiaoping took the cup first and pushed her away. "Go away, go away. You have no right to speak here."

As he spoke, he picked up the newly opened bottle of Hennessy SOP on the table and was about to fill it up, but Gu Ningwei stopped him and shook his head, "You can't drink. You drove here and have something else to do. You'll be leaving soon after sitting for a while."

Lu Xiaoping paused and looked at him respectfully: "It's so rare for us to meet, it would be a shame not to have a couple of drinks. Have a few drinks, and I'll ask the driver to pick you up later."

Gu Ningwei paused for a moment, then smiled and shook his head, "It's true."

"Oh..." Lu Xiaoping showed a look of disappointment, not daring to force it any further. "Okay, brother, whatever you say is fine. So, what do you want to drink?"

Han handed over the bottle of Perrier sparkling water on the table.

Gu Ningwei took it, looked up at her eyes, smiled, and whispered, "Thank you."

Han turned his head away.
