Chapter 53 Flirt with me
Before Han Que could even open his mouth to speak, Gu Ningli's face flushed and paled with anger, her eyes filled with tears. She pointed at Han Que and said tremblingly, "Don't act like an innocent white lotus here. You knew my brother wouldn't marry you, yet you still tried to seduce him. You said you weren't after his money, but what was your reason? You're just a..."
After all, she was educated, and she couldn't utter the word "bitch" and her body trembled.
She thought of Jiang Jin's lukewarm attitude towards her in recent days. She felt aggrieved but couldn't say it out loud. She could only vent her anger on He Lian.
Her noise attracted other colleagues on the 24th floor to gather around. Several of them knew Gu Ningli. Seeing her get angry over such a small matter, they were a little puzzled and whispered to each other. There was also a timid person who took a look and returned to his seat.
Director Pan heard the noise and came out of his cubicle. Seeing that it was Gu Ningli, he immediately put on a smile and asked what had happened.
"It's okay, it's okay." He Lian said to everyone with a smile. She put her arm around Gu Ningli's shoulders and whispered comfortingly, "Hey, Ali, what are you doing? Miss Han didn't do anything wrong. It was Ah Wei who told her not to let outsiders in. Don't blame her."
Gu Ningli lowered her head and sobbed.
"Oh, it's not a big deal. Look at you crying so hard... your eyelashes are all smudged." He Lian took out a tissue from her bag and helped wipe the smudged mascara from the corners of her eyes. After trying a few times without any effect, she dragged her, "Come on, let's go to the bathroom to touch up our makeup." As she spoke, she turned around and gave Han Que a look, silently mouthing, "Sorry."
Han didn't say a word from beginning to end.
Director Pan asked her, "What happened?" But Han didn't answer, as someone nearby had already explained the whole story.
Director Pan sighed and patted Han Que on the shoulder. "Ah, you've been wronged, but for those of us who serve the boss, there's nothing we can do."
Han snorted, returned to his workstation, and sat in front of the computer, sorting out the documents and materials that Gu Ningwei needed with an expressionless face.
In the bathroom, He Lian took out a face towel and makeup bag and asked Gu Ningli to wash her face and take care of her skin again. She complained softly, "You've been so angry today. I'm just doing my job. It's not rude to let us go to the small meeting room next door to rest. But you just jumped up and cursed, and even dragged me into it. What do you think Ah Wei will think of me?"
Gu Ningli didn't look at her, but stared straight at herself in the mirror and said stubbornly, "I don't care. I just can't stand her scheming gold diggers who spend all day trying to seduce men to get ahead."
"That man has to be seduced by her too." He Lian shrugged and handed her the liquid foundation she used. "Your brother has been bewitched by her and lost his mind. What can you do about it? Besides, he's your brother, not your man. Why are you so anxious?"
"I..." Gu Ningli was speechless. She had no evidence to prove that Han Que was related to Jiang Jin, but she had an inexplicable feeling that made her feel uncomfortable the first time she saw Han Que. "Anyway, I just felt an inexplicable fire and irritability when I saw her."
He Lian glanced at her and said with a half-smile, "Are you about to have your period? Your mood is so unstable."
"What about you? Aren't you angry?" Gu Ningli turned around and asked her, "Seeing her and my brother like this, and hearing those people gossiping outside, don't you feel angry at all?"
"Why would I be angry?" He Lian turned around, looking at the two beautiful women in the mirror, and sneered, "Ah Wei and I are a business marriage, there's no real love involved. Besides, we haven't announced it yet. Theoretically, we're both free agents and can make friends."
"You have no feelings for my brother?" Gu Ningli stared at her and was silent for a while before saying, "I don't believe it. He Jun has been gone for so many years. You should have no feelings for him... a long time ago."
"Don't mention He Jun to me." He Lian was stunned for a moment, her face suddenly darkening. She threw the powder compact in her hand into her makeup bag, turned around and left without even looking at Gu Ningli.
Gu Ningli stared at her hurried back in the mirror and snorted coldly.
By the time Gu Ningwei finished the meeting, He Lian had already gone to the hotel with Gu Ningli. He opened the door and came out, scanning the room with a sharp gaze. No one dared to say a word, their heads buried in their work. Gu Ningwei raised his chin towards Han Que and asked, "Have you finished organizing the documents I asked you to organize?"
Han looked away from the computer screen and looked at him: "There are still some that haven't been sorted out."
Gu Ningwei said, "Bring over what you've sorted first." He walked into the office and closed the door again.
The printer was spitting out documents, and soon a thick stack was formed. Han picked up the stack of documents and lowered his head to knock on the door.
Gu Ningwei sat in the big chair, leaning back slightly, staring intently at her as she sorted the documents on the table. Suddenly, he laughed, "Why aren't you talking?"
Han shrugged without looking up: "What do you want me to say?"
Gu Ningwei said, "Just now..." He paused and explained, "I heard everything in there."
"Oh." Han hummed indifferently, lowered her head and continued to flip through the documents on the table, pinning them up with a paper clip, as if the person she had the dispute with outside was not her.
"You're so speechless?" Gu Ningwei held down her busy hands on the table and looked up at her. "You're not angry at all?"
"What do you want me to say?" Han raised his head and asked him.
Gu Ningwei was stunned.
"I'm angry. How could I not be?" Han lowered her head and continued, "Although this isn't the first time I've been scolded, this time it happened in public." She raised her eyes, staring at Gu Ningwei in front of her, and continued, "But what can I do if I'm angry? Can I quarrel with Gu Ningli, or can I scold her back? I can't, right? Then can I confidently deny that she's wrong and say I never slept with you? I can't either, right?" She laughed self-deprecatingly, "Gu Ningli is right. I did sleep with you. I knew you wouldn't marry me, but I still slept with you. You're really hypocritical, pretending to be pure and innocent."
Gu Ningwei didn't say anything. He exerted a little force with his hands and intertwined his fingers with Han Que's.
Han smiled and said, "I'm after your money." She paused and said, "Gu Ningli is right."
Gu Ningwei let go of her hand, walked over from his seat, put his arm around her shoulders, rubbed his chin against her cheek, leaned against her ear and kissed her gently, then whispered, "Is it just money?"
A moist and warm breath brushed past her ears. Gu Ningwei gently gathered her scattered hair and put it behind her head, strand by strand. However, Han turned her face away, lowered her head and gently bit his fingertips.
"And she's beautiful." Han smiled.
Gu Ningwei's eyes dimmed slightly. He picked her up, walked a few steps, and put her on the sofa. He lay on top of her, with his face against her chest, listening to her heart beating wildly.
"Are you crazy..." Han was frightened and stretched out her hand to push him away. After several attempts, she failed and had no choice but to let him snuggle with her. Gu Ningwei stopped moving and just lay quietly with his eyes closed. Han only felt his chest heavy, warm and full.
Gu Ningwei lay there with his eyes closed for a while before turning over and sitting up. He lowered his head to straighten his wrinkled clothes, unbuckled his belt, and tucked his clothes into the hem of his suit. He looked left and right with an expression of dissatisfaction.
Han Que glanced at the bulge in his trousers and smiled.
Gu Ningwei caught the teasing in her eyes and said self-deprecatingly, a little embarrassedly, "It's just unsatisfied sexual desire."
Han said, "You have an event tonight, so you should change your clothes. This shirt is too wrinkled." After that, she stood up and walked to the cloakroom, taking out her usual suit, shirt, and tie one by one. Gu Ningwei followed her and gently put his arm around her soft waist, whispering, "Why don't you come with me?"
Han shook his head, pulled up the hem of his shirt, and unbuttoned Gu Ningwei's shirt one by one. His shirt was undone, revealing his muscular body, fair skin, and as perfect as a sculpture. She was stunned, and her hands unconsciously pressed on his abdominal muscles. Gu Ningwei took the opportunity to hug her in his arms, resting his forehead against hers, his deep eyes, unfathomable. He bit her lips lightly and asked in a low voice: "Flirting with me?"
Gu Ningli found a lounge in the hotel lobby next to the venue.
She and He Lian were sitting idly on the sofa there, playing with their phones and not talking much. Gu Ningli was waiting for Jiang Jin, while He Lian was attending the banquet alone.
Tonight she was attending the auction on behalf of the art foundation under the He family group. She was a well-known painter and the head of the He family art foundation. She had a special identity and was not someone's companion or subordinate, so she had a very good attitude and did not feel embarrassed because Gu Ningwei refused them entry.
He Lian sent a message to Gu Ningwei, apologizing for what happened this afternoon.
Gu Ningwei did not reply.
He Lian put down her phone and looked thoughtfully at Gu Ningli who was browsing her phone beside her. She had an average relationship with Gu Ningli. She had only known her since childhood because of Gu Ningwei. However, Gu Ningli was younger than her and they didn't have much in common. He Lian didn't think much of Gu Ningli's style. It seemed that she had no other joys in life except shopping and having fun.
In addition, she also didn't like Gu Ningli's boyfriend, the man named Jiang Jin. Although he was handsome and elegant, he hid his ambitions and calculations very well.
In comparison, Han was quite interesting, being frank and fearless.
"What time will they come?" He Lian picked up the teacup, took a sip of the half-cooled Suzhou Biluochun, and asked Gu Ningli.
"Jiang Jin has to wait until the meeting is over. My brother..." Her voice trailed off, "He didn't reply to me."
"It seems I'm angry with you." He Lian glared at her, "I let you do whatever you want."
Gu Ningli turned her head away and muttered angrily, "I still can't stand her."
"What's there to be unhappy about..." He Lian said lightly, "It's normal for people like them to have these thoughts. Since people have to worry about survival, of course they will do whatever it takes. A little bit of crumbs can satisfy them. There's no need to compete with these people."
Gu Ningli didn't expect He Lian to think this way. She looked at her in surprise. Her love story with He Jun was still talked about by many people.
She is a representative of the pursuit of true love beyond class. If He Jun had not committed suicide due to depression, He Lian would have married him and become a loving couple.
