Chapter 95 Breakup

Chapter 95 Breakup

Han became angrier and angrier as he spoke, and the anger that had been pent up in his heart for days was suddenly ignited.

She continued, "Gu Ningwei, can you please understand? Zhening Company is yours. It's called Gu, not mine. I'm busy and exhausted every day, but you just sit there and watch, acting like a hands-off boss. You handle everything and make the decisions, while I'm just an employee. You always ask me to make the decisions. So, are you the boss, or am I?"

Gu Ningwei stood at the door of his office, pursed his lips and remained silent, with an ugly look on his face.

Director Pan heard the argument outside in his office and hurried out of the room. He took Han Que's hand and said, "Okay, okay, Xiao Han, don't be angry. It's so hot, don't get angry. Mr. Gu is not angry with you. He is just angry and feels uncomfortable."

Han Que's face flushed red, and she said aggrievedly, "He's angry? Am I not angry? Ever since Wang Jianan left, he's thrown all the R&D and production to me, under the euphemism of training me, but what's the real reason? He just wants to see me eat a few more mouthfuls of free food, right? If you have any objections, just say it, why are you making indirect accusations..."

"Han Que, what are you talking about? Who said you were eating free meals? Stop thinking like that. Everyone sees how hard you work. Mr. Gu knows it too."

Director Pan quickly persuaded.

"He knows? What does he know? He's always busy with his own affairs. Has he ever cared about Zhenning's affairs? Has he ever shown any concern?"

"I've already told you that I'm fully responsible for Zhe Ning's affairs. What else do you want me to take care of?" Gu Ningwei said in a deep voice.

"Leave it to me?" Han chuckled. "That's easy for you to say. You don't care about anything yourself and just push it on to others."

"Hey, Han Que, let's stop talking, okay? Everyone is watching us." Seeing that everyone else in the office had stopped working and was listening silently, Director Pan quickly pulled Han Que aside.

"Director Pan, don't stop her. Let her speak." Gu Ningwei said in a low voice, "Let her vent all the resentment in her heart so that she won't keep it in her heart and dislike me."

"I don't like you?" Han laughed in anger. She broke free from Director Pan's arm, walked up to Gu Ningwei, and continued to question: "Is it me who dislikes you, or you who dislikes me? I reported to you about my work, and you said you didn't have time. I asked you about the production arrangements of Zhening Company, and you said you didn't care. I went to find Professor Tang for help myself, and you turned around and said that Professor Tang should be involved in such a trivial matter? You also said that I rely on others for everything and don't have the courage to do independent research and development? Who dislikes whom?"

"What I said was right. You are relying on Tang Zifeng for everything now. He is just a consultant I hired, not the general manager of our Zhening Company. Why should you listen to him in everything?" When Tang Zifeng was mentioned, the anger that had just subsided in Gu Ningwei suddenly rose up again, and his face was cold.

"If I don't count on him, who can I count on? Can I count on you? If I can't even count on you, what else can I do?" Han felt more and more aggrieved as he spoke, and tears welled up in his clear eyes.

"Yes, you don't count on me. I can't give you any support, right?" Gu Ningwei said coldly, "Then go count on others. After all, others can convince you."

"That's right, it's others who are helping me. Are you helping me? You don't just make demands on me, you want results." Han interrupted him angrily: "What do you mean by training you to be the general manager? You talk better than you sing, you're just exploiting me."

"Say it again?" Gu Ningwei became angry. He took a step forward and looked at Han Que with a sinister and sharp look.

Han shrank under his gaze, paused, and repeated, "Yes, you are exploiting me."

Seeing that the two were getting more and more excited and angry, and there were other people in the office, Director Pan was frightened, fearing that the two would say something that would make others blush, so he had to pull Han Que hard and pushed her into Gu Ningwei's office.

Gu Ningwei also came in, slammed the door, and sat on the sofa gasping for breath.

Han stood in the middle of the office, not saying a word. Her chest was heaving rapidly, her face was flushed, and her eyes were filled with tears. Gu Ningwei saw it all and couldn't help but regret having spoken so harshly and had such a bad attitude.

Director Pan glanced at him and understood, so he put his arm around Han Que and sat on the sofa next to Gu Ningwei, pressing her shoulders and asking her to sit down.

"That's not what Mr. Gu meant, Han Que. Don't get me wrong. He really is training you." Director Pan patted Han Que's shoulder and comforted her gently. He then walked to the water dispenser, poured Han Que a glass of water, and handed it to her, his tone even gentler: "It's hot, drink some water to cool down."

Han couldn't refuse Director Pan's face, so he had to lower his head and took it, saying in a low voice: "Thank you, Director Pan."

Director Pan continued, "You two are still too young. You speak without considering the consequences. Your words keep coming back and forth, becoming increasingly harsh. In this hot weather, can't you just talk calmly and peacefully?"

As she spoke, she quickly winked at Gu Ningwei, urging him, "Boss Gu, please say something quickly. Han Que has been busy with Zhe Ning's affairs all day long, from morning till night. She has to read other people's faces and listen to other people's gossip. She's already feeling aggrieved enough. Please don't put pressure on her."

Gu Ningwei was silent for a while, then he sighed and softened his tone. He said to Han Que beside him, "Han Que, I'm sorry. I was wrong today. I said too much."

Han lowered his head, pursed his lips and said nothing, but his tears fell one by one like beads with a broken string.

Gu Ningwei looked at her with pity and stretched out his fingers to wipe it for her, but Han turned her face away.

Director Pan saw this and realized that he was just a small bulb and had no value in this place. He quickly stood up and said, "Then you two can have a good chat. I'll get busy. I still have some unfinished business over there."

After saying that, she quickly walked out of the office and closed the door behind her.

At the door of Gu Ningwei's office, a crowd of onlookers gathered. When they saw Director Pan push the door open, they all stretched their necks to peek inside. Director Pan slapped Xiao Wu, the driver closest to the door, and scolded him lightly, "What are you looking at? Get back to work."

Xiao Wu said with a smile: "Well, I'm just concerned about our leader."

Xiao Wu is Gu Ningwei's driver and has been with him these days.

"Your leader's affairs are none of your business. He's already unhappy, and you insist on going forward to die. Go ahead, I won't stop you."

Xiao Wu continued with a smile, "Our leader has been in a bad mood lately. This morning, he went to the group and was scolded by Director Gu. In the afternoon, he went to inspect the construction site with two Director Gus. He saw that there were very few people working. They were all in the air-conditioned rooms, idling and passive. When asked, they said they wouldn't delay until they were paid. Director Gu got angry and scolded Director Gu again."

"The fact that migrant workers on the construction site don't work and funds are not in place are the fault of those two big leaders. Why are they scolding Mr. Gu?" Some people were puzzled.

"What else? It's nothing more than saying that Young Gu isn't proactive about his marriage, that he doesn't try to please the eldest daughter of the He family, and that he's dragging his feet and refusing to get engaged, which has caused the He family's promised investment to still not arrive..." Xiao Wu shook his head and sighed, "Anyway, it's all the same thing. The two Mr. Gus, one after another, have driven Young Gu so angry that his face has turned pale."

"These people in the group are really funny. They used to never let our young Mr. Gu get involved in anything, but now that they're out of money, they're expecting him to sell himself for fame and fortune and rely on marriage to raise funds. This is too much."

"What do you mean by selling yourself for fame? That's such a harsh word." Director Pan glared at him.

"That's right. Mr. Gu clearly didn't want to marry into the He family, but they forced him to do it. Isn't that just selling himself for fame and fortune..." someone nearby echoed, "No wonder Han is angry. Who wouldn't be angry?"

"Alright, each of you, please stop talking." Director Pan tried to dispel the chattering colleagues. "Go, go. It's almost time to get off work. Pack up and leave quickly. Don't cause any more trouble here."

After the colleagues who came to watch the fun dispersed, Director Pan returned to his small cubicle, looked at the document on the computer screen, and sighed deeply.

She had previously received an email from the group chairman's office, asking them to continue preparing for Gu Ningwei and He Lian's engagement ceremony.

Director Pan called Director Xie, the secretary of the group chairman, to inquire about the news. Director Xie sighed and said, "Boss Gu Zhiguang has probably reached an agreement with the He family. The He family has agreed to continue the marriage, so the engagement is back on the agenda."

Director Pan said, "Didn't they say that Miss He had some health problems and needed to rest for a while? How come she recovered so quickly?"

Director Xie said, "I'm not entirely clear on the specifics, but it seems like this is the He family's intention." After a pause, Director Xie lowered his voice and continued, "It's said it's not an engagement, but a direct marriage. So, we're being asked to hurry up and prepare. The standards have been tightened, and the timeline is tight. We're only given two weeks to prepare."

"Half a month?" Director Pan gasped. "So nervous? Why did the He family suddenly..."

"Don't guess." Director Xie interrupted her question. "Let's not guess at anything. Just do as we're told. Anyway, we don't know the specific situation."

Director Pan hung up the phone and didn't speak for a long time. She waited until Gu Ningwei came back from the group, then went in to report to Gu Ningwei and verify the information.

Gu Ningwei's face was gloomy and he remained silent. Director Pan stood in the office for a while, ready to leave. Just as he reached the door, he heard Gu Ningwei say, "Prepare according to the group's advice."

Director Pan was stunned for a moment, turned around, and couldn't help asking: "What about Han Que..."

Gu Ningwei was silent for a while before nodding: "I'll arrange it."

He spoke in a calm tone and even laughed briefly. Director Pan felt pity in his heart, nodded, and walked out the door.

Night falls outside the window.

In the office building opposite, lights are bright and people are swaying.

The wind blew at night, making the window glass rustle. The area between the tall buildings was like a Grand Canyon, and the wind whistled past like a whistle.

Gu Ningwei stood by the window, his hands in his pockets, overlooking the hustle and bustle of traffic in the canyon, his back straight, not knowing what he was thinking.

The light from the spotlight on the ceiling outlined his back and face, half in the light and half hidden in the dark.

Just like him, Han felt that he was always confusing.

Han sat there in silence, the tears on his face had dried, and the skin on his cheeks was so tight and itchy that he couldn't help scratching it.

The phone in her hand vibrated slightly as message after message came in. She lowered her eyes to read. Her face gradually turned pale, and her chest felt tight. After an unknown amount of time, she finally moved her fingers slightly and replied with a few words.

She looked at his back silently and waited for a long, long time, until her eyes were sore and tears welled up again, but she still didn't see him turn around.

Han decided not to wait any longer, she needed to make her own decision.

So, she licked the corners of her cracked lips and said with difficulty: "Gu Ningwei, let's break up."
