Diary of Jiang Ziyao

Diary of Jiang Ziyao

By 3906, Jiang Ziyao was already 26 years old. After he and Huo Chi settled in the south for two years, he had become a young company manager, and Huo Chi followed closely behind him. Huo Chi was decisive in his work and had an accent when he spoke at the dinner table. He was like a fish in water at work.

Although they did not work in the same company, their two companies were just across the street from each other. Their relationship and careers were very stable, and by the age of 45, the savings they had accumulated together were enough for them to quit their jobs, retire, and travel around.

Huo Chi had already planned their travel plan when he was 25 years old. He planned to travel around the country, become a travel blogger, and go abroad when he had the financial means. This was his motivation for working hard, but who knew that the string of numbers in the bank card would lose its meaning?

On the day after Children's Day, a worldwide disaster struck. It was like a hole suddenly appeared in the sky, shaking out all the painful things.

It was noon, the restaurant was already packed, the sun was still shining, there was a lot of traffic across the street, and there was a huge group of people waiting for the traffic lights. Jiang Ziyao walked out of the company gate and went to the nearest vegetable market to buy some vegetables. Huo Chi got off work a little later than him today, so after preparing the ingredients for lunch, he met him at the gate of Huo Chi's company.

Huo Chi didn't send him any notice about overtime, so he would definitely be there on time. Jiang Ziyao soon saw Huo Chi squeeze out from the crowd of people leaving get off work behind him.

"Brother Jiang!" Huo Chi was waving at him with a smile.

At this moment, Jiang Ziyao didn't know the exact time, a person suddenly fell in front of him, followed by the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground, and half of the people on the street suddenly fell down, lying on the ground in a weird posture.

The virus seeds planted by pollution suddenly sprouted.

The people lying on the ground were twitching and spitting saliva. They seemed to be suffering from a collective illness, and their limbs were out of their control. As long as you were conscious and close enough, you could even hear the sound of bones twisting. Jiang Ziyao's first reaction was to call 120, but no one answered after a minute.

With a whoosh—!

There was a loud noise coming from above his head. The glass of a high-rise building suddenly shattered. The broken glass dazzled Jiang Ziyao's eyes. An office chair fell at his feet, along with a human body.

One person was pressing on top of another, gnawing at his face frantically. Blood vessels burst and spilled all over the ground. The bright red color stung people's vision. The person being bitten was already dead, and his miserable state was sickening.

The people who had lost consciousness crawled up from the ground one after another. They all had one thing to do, which was to bite living people. People infected with the virus had a stronger bite force than ordinary people, and they could easily bite off the flesh and blood of living people.

Everything within the field of vision became chaotic, with people lying on the ground, screaming.

Jiang Ziyao saw a rotten face rushing towards him. His crazy look was more terrifying than that of a wild beast. His human eyes had lost their original color and turned completely white. Red threads were attached to his eyeballs like parasites.

He immediately threw the things in his hands out, and the food he was holding fell on the man. The man who tried to bite him was uncoordinated and was misdirected because of being hit. Jiang Ziyao was not knocked down, but there were too many broken glass under his feet and he did not pay attention when he retreated.

Jiang Ziyao slipped to the ground in an instant, and a piece of glass pierced his palm. The pain stimulated his nerves, which made Jiang Ziyao sober up a little. Monster, he used this word to refer to those who were infected with the virus.

The monster turned its head, drooling from its mouth. The flesh on its face began to rot, leaving no intact skin. It once again rushed towards Jiang Ziyao, who was closest to it.

"Brother Jiang——!"

Jiang Ziyao heard Huo Chi shout.

Huo Chi's shout was slower than his own movements. He collided with the monster, with the computer bag in his hand pressed in front. His momentum knocked the monster away, and he smashed the monster hard with the computer.

Coincidentally, the computer hit the monster's head. When the monster's head broke off and fell to the ground, Huo Chi felt that he might be crazy. His only sanity was to pull Jiang Ziyao up first.

Blood and corpses, these two things suddenly became everywhere. Jiang Ziyao's heartbeat was accelerating. They kept running and breathing heavily.

For the first time, the goddess of luck descended upon them, and Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi ran back home safely. They closed the doors and windows with lingering fear, and sat together, staring at each other in silence for half an hour.

The city sounded the air raid sirens, the streets were filled with a foul smell, and the last message sent by the satellite was to notify everyone to evacuate. In just two days, power outages began, communication equipment failed, and the city's operations were paralyzed. The city entered the darkness after dusk and lost the dawn.

It can be clearly seen through the window that the city has been occupied by monsters. Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi don't know that this change is global, and they even have some luck in their hearts. They believe in the country and the army, and think that as long as they live longer, they will be rescued.

But there was no food in the house, so they had to go out. Having missed the first day's food grab, they had to go farther.

They dug out the crowbars that had been used at home, avoided the mutated neighbors and went downstairs to get the motorcycle. At least the monsters couldn't drive, so they safely left the city center and arrived at a nearby town. Lacking supplies, they could only temporarily abandon the motorcycle.

Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi happened to meet an acquaintance - a young man they had helped before.

This acquaintance brought good news. The survivors nearby temporarily formed a safe camp. They stockpiled supplies here. Hopefully, there would be more people where there were more people. Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi thought they had a place to stay, but the people there were very sensitive to blood. They would not accept anyone with any wounds on their bodies.

Unfortunately, the glass wound on Jiang Ziyao's palm has not healed yet.

"You can stay, but he can't."

The man with the final say suddenly showed hostility as he examined them.

The man pointed a knife at Jiang Ziyao and forced him to retreat.

Huo Chi quickly stood in front of Jiang Ziyao. He was not afraid of the knife in the man's hand and faced the man calmly: "He is not infected. Put away your weapon."

The man said: "I only know that the virus can be transmitted through the wound."

He warned Huo Chi: "Either you stay, or you all get out. Don't force me to do anything to you now."

The acquaintance apologized to the man: "I didn't know this would happen. I wasn't with them."

"We will go."

Huo Chi responded with a cold look. While it was still daytime outside, he put on his backpack and pulled Jiang Ziyao away.

At the beginning of the apocalypse, when people were in a state of panic, Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi had just stepped into the large group of survivors when they were driven out.

"They don't have better equipment, and having more people is not necessarily a good thing."

Huo Chi said that he and Jiang Ziyao were hiding in a small alley, covered in dust and dirt, and could only speak in a low voice. He took off the bloody crowbar from behind and said, "Let's pick a place to stay first. If there are monsters, I will smash their heads."

Huo Chi said: "Just the two of us are enough."

Jiang Ziyao knew it was not the right time to sigh, but he couldn't help but sigh: "Like before?"

Huo Chi held his hand and said firmly: "Just like before, we are together and we can get through this."

With this perseverance, they lasted for six whole months.

After a week, Jiang Ziyao also developed the habit of writing a diary. He had a brown diary in which he wrote down what happened every day and recorded the time.

What he wrote in his diary was nothing more than a few monsters he killed in a day, some supplies he found, or some living people he met on a certain day. The days without a normal life were always boring, and this was one of the pleasures he discovered.

[8.2, kill 3.]

He scribbled on paper, abstractly depicting the monsters he had killed.

[The monsters are smelling worse and worse. I have almost forgotten the taste of normal food. It is hard to imagine that I can go without hot food for several months just to get the nutrients I need to survive. Where is the limit of human beings?]

[August 16, kill 2. It was very thrilling today. We were almost surrounded and eaten by a monster. The monster's mouth was only a few centimeters away from me. Huo Chi was scared to death. After he became an adult who could handle things with ease, I haven't seen him so scared for a long time.]

Attached to this page is a picture of a little man breathing fire.

[Life is not easy walking on the edge of a knife, but we need food. We have no fixed place to live, living in different people's houses and patronizing strangers' past lives.

Soon, we met a father and daughter in the supermarket. It was a rare opportunity to meet a survivor, so we reminded him that there were a lot of monsters approaching and the supermarket was not safe enough.

But the father was very angry. Most of the people who are still alive are in a state of irritability and anger. He accused us of coming here and believed that we had attracted monsters. Huo Chi did not accept the accusation and we had an argument.

In fact, our information was wrong. The monsters came faster than we thought. Huo Chi and I packed some food in our bags and evacuated directly. The man did not leave in time because he had too much stuff and it was too difficult to carry it.

I saw the man abandon his daughter as bait. The girl cried loudly and kept calling out to the man, but he ignored her. I don’t know where he went. I only saw a cannibalized corpse.]

[8.23, killed 6, met a living person, but unfortunately, he died soon after.]

[August 30th is the last day of this month. Huo Chi and I are very happy. The supplies we found allow us to hide in a room and rest for three days. I have already adapted to the dark night.]

[On September 3, we heard strange noises. In order to avoid being surrounded by danger without knowing it, we quietly climbed to the roof. It turned out that a nearby survivor's safe house was under siege. The monster seemed to have become more powerful. Just a black shadow could show its horror. It was not transformed from a human, but an animal, like a bug, but very huge. Many people died. We had to leave.]

[9.5, killed 22, we successfully transferred a city, but unfortunately, this city also fell, disappointment enveloped us, Huo Chi was also forcing a smile, we couldn't get close to the forest, a survivor warned us that he was injured, we killed him. ]

[November, I can’t remember which day it was, I haven’t written a diary for a while, there is some bad news, I saw it in a newspaper, the world has completely fallen, those monsters are called zombies, how can we survive?]

[It's January, and it's snowing. The snow has reduced the mobility of the zombies and aliens. Their movement speed is slowing down, but it is also a disaster for us. There is no food, no fire, and no warmth. We don't know how to survive this winter.

We met the survivors again. They had guns in their hands. I heard the gunshots and the buzzing of zombies. They were very dense. The bullets seemed to attract them all. The survivors rushed into our shelter, pointed guns at us, and hit our heads with the gun barrels. We became lambs to be slaughtered. Those people robbed all our remaining supplies. ]

On this page, his handwriting was very hurried.

Jiang Ziyao will still remember that night when the people who were raiding the supplies threatened them and tied the door with an iron chain when they left, and a monster came to the rooftop, which is why those people opened fire.

They heard the rustling sound of the monster's limbs as it crawled, the rustling sound was like the sound of a group turning pages of a book, but it felt like a knife stabbing their bodies.

The monster fell from the ceiling and crashed into the bedroom. Huo Chi immediately closed the bedroom door and pushed the sofa to block the door.

The monster had locked onto their position and was pounding on the bedroom door, its forelimbs already sticking out of the crack, along with its eyes.

The monster's eyes were moving through the crack in the door. Huo Chi and his situation were very dangerous. Jiang Ziyao knew that he had to calm down and find a way out.

Jiang Ziyao found an iron rod in the living room and smashed the lock of the iron chain.

Huo Chi held onto the door frame with his hands, and the sofa pillar hit his back again and again. He held his breath and used his arms to the limit, so that the blood vessels on his arm muscles were clearly visible. The sound of the impact and the sound of the iron rod rang together, making people's hearts tremble.

Damn this world! Damn monsters! Damn people!

Jiang Ziyao roared in his heart, his eyes red as he swung the iron rod and tried his best to smash the lock again and again. For half a year, he had been fighting against this world time and time again. He finally broke the lock after his hands were broken.

Jiang Ziyao's palms were covered in blood, and his body was so cold that he forgot the pain. He dropped the stick and pushed the door open. Huo Chi rushed towards him at the same time. They had a chance of escaping from the monster's mouth.

Running downstairs, Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi had to flee to the street to avoid the monsters. They could not see the direction in the city shrouded in darkness. The blood from his palms dripped onto the snow, forming a winding blood line. The bloody smell still attracted the zombies. The walls on all sides were covered with ice prisms. Their feet were trembling with cold and they could not climb up.

Huo Chi tried many times, but fell down every time.

They couldn't run anymore, and they had no chance. Their blood had frozen and their pale lips had cracked. It was pitch black all around them, with no light to be felt.

Jiang Ziyao and Huo Chi stopped in the snow, in the cold wind. The air was filled with a disgusting stench, and the dense group of zombies was still approaching.

So, they decided to hug each other, wishing they could embed each other in their arms and use their flesh and blood as the last layer of defense for each other.

"Brother Jiang, don't be afraid."

"Don't be afraid."

Jiang Ziyao heard the sound of the wind and Huo Chi's hoarse voice.

Huo Chi hugged him tightly and lifted up his injured hand. He kissed it tenderly. The glaring blood made him feel furious.

Jiang Ziyao felt the warmth, which even made him think it was an illusion. Huo Chi's body was actually getting hot. Jiang Ziyao raised his head in surprise and looked at his thin body, only to see that his dark eyes suddenly ignited with sparks.

Huo Chi was like a wild beast guarding its food, his strong back with wings of protection spread out, and he glanced around with dangerous eyes.

"We will survive."

“Because I’m here.”

"Brother Jiang, I swear, no one can do this to us again."

Huo Chi's voice was as firm and deep as before.

Suddenly, flames ignited on the ice surface. The dancing fireworks made everything around them bright, and a huge circle of fire surrounded the two of them.

Huo Chi's calm voice also enveloped him, and from then on, Jiang Ziyao would no longer feel cold.

In the dead of night, they welcomed a dawn.

After Jiang Ziyao's injury healed, he picked up the pen again.

[3907, February 3, we killed living people, yes, living people. The moment they tried to pick up weapons, the flames burned their bodies directly. We dealt with them like zombies.

At first, killing zombies was not a difficult task. Danger forced us to take action. When facing the survivors, it was still...

I don't want to meet any living people again.]
