Tang Yue's house was located at the very back of the village, near the foot of the mountain. The road home was bordered by the mountain on one side and a 2-meter-deep ditch on the other. With no one in control, the donkey pulled the cart straight towards the ditch.
Seeing that the first shot missed, the people in the yard fired a second shot. As the other side pulled the trigger, Tang Yue heard a slight clicking sound, and she shouted again, "Jump out of the car!"
Without hesitation, everyone jumped off the car, paused for only a moment on the ground, and then, propelled by the momentum, fell directly into the ditch.
Fortunately, the ditch was made of bundles of corn stalks that Tang Bei and his friends often used to play with, so they didn't hit the rocks directly when they fell. Even so, Old Li and Tang Shengkai weren't unwell either.
Old Li was getting on in years, and Tang Shengkai's leg injury hadn't healed yet; he'd been lying in bed for over a month and felt completely weak. "What happened?"
Old Li spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva and turned to ask Tang Shengkai. Tang Shengkai's face was cold and stern; he didn't know who it was either.
However, anyone who dares to openly fire shots in the village is definitely not Chinese, so it can only be someone seeking revenge.
"Uncle Li, we've dragged you into this. You should run towards the village this way and don't worry about us."
"What the hell is that? Are you a Japanese devil?"
Old Li naturally knew about Tang Shengkai's commendation.
"Damn, they're so arrogant. They think it's the 40s or something, daring to come to Qiligou. Since they're here, they might as well stay."
Tang Shengkai grabbed Old Li's arm. "Uncle Li, don't be impulsive. They have guns. Since they've come, they must have made thorough preparations. We have nothing. Going there would just be suicide."
Old Li held two stones in his hands. "Hmph, it's not like you can't kill someone without a gun."
As she was about to walk up the ditch, Lin Cuicui's suppressed sobs rang out.
"Yueyue, where is Yueyue?"
The group quickly turned around to look, but Tang Yue was nowhere to be seen.
At this moment, Tang Yue had already arrived behind the woodpile outside the courtyard wall.
She jumped off the vehicle with everyone else, ending up in a ditch. Finding firewood nearby, she figured she wouldn't die from the fall, so she ran up the ditch to the firewood pile.
With a nimble leap, he climbed the embankment and hid behind a pile of firewood.
On her way over, she listened carefully to the sounds, but she didn't hear the "click" sound again, nor the "bang" of a gunshot. Tang Yue now knew what a gun was; she was shocked. This thing was truly powerful.
Moreover, the clicking sound and the gunshot should have been consecutive.
She could hear faint breathing sounds inside the courtyard, and from those sounds, she knew the person's location. Wait, two?
It seems she thinks highly of her father! Tang Yue picked up a few pebbles from the ground and, judging from the sounds, determined that one person was still hiding behind the courtyard wall. He was probably afraid they had guns and didn't dare to show himself. The other person should be at the door of the house.
Tang Yue listened carefully but couldn't hear any breathing sounds from inside the room. It seemed that it must be just these two people.
Tang Yue didn't know how the gun worked. Was it only usable at long range, or could it be used at close range as well? With her current abilities, she couldn't even fire two pebbles at the same time, so how was she supposed to kill them one by one?
