“My family will be living here for many years. My mom usually makes all the clothes herself, so what’s wrong with me buying her a sewing machine? Besides, isn’t a bicycle a necessity for every household?”
If other families have it, my family must have it too.
Commander Kang...
Often hidden...
"Who has a bicycle? And a sewing machine? Who has one? Other people have them, but there are only a handful of families in the whole compound."
Tang Yue sat there without saying a word; she wouldn't listen. She was determined to have it.
Chang Yin could see the little girl's stubbornness. He explained, "You need tickets to buy bicycles and sewing machines. Besides, these two things aren't sold here on the South Island."
Tang Yue was a little dumbfounded; she hadn't really noticed these two things during her last trip to the border town. She couldn't help but frown.
Commander Kang felt a little better when he saw her get frustrated, but then the little girl said, "I have both bicycle tickets and sewing machine tickets, but are they really not sold here?"
Commander Kang and Chang Yin both fell silent. This little girl was really capable; she even managed to get tickets for those two items. Of course, they could certainly get them if they wanted, but they'd have to pull some strings. This little girl…
Where did you get that ticket?
"Can't it be used?" Tang Yue blinked her innocent big eyes. Commander Kang took a deep breath. Forget it, he wouldn't ask anymore; he was too tired.
"You'd better go back and get some sleeping pills. By the way, does that drug have any side effects?"
Tang Yue hadn't even moved her bottom when she was stumped by Commander Kang's question. She didn't quite understand what Commander Kang meant.
Before she could ask, Commander Kang said directly, "Those spies we captured last time haven't said a word yet."
Tang Yue suddenly realized, "So you think it's because I drugged them? That's a good idea. I'll try it next time and see if I can make them unyielding after using this drug."
"Hmm, I'll look into it when I get back."
Commander Kang...
He didn't know what to say anymore. Why was this girl not on the same wavelength as him?
Chang Yin coughed lightly to suppress a laugh, "Tang Yue, the commander didn't mean that. He was just asking casually."
Tang Yue's gaze towards Chang Yin changed. Weren't the people in this unit incredibly incompetent? They hadn't gotten any information from the spies after all this time; that was just too lame.
Don't you have truth serum?
"Truth serum?"
"Truth serum?"
The two of them said in unison that they found this thing a bit unbelievable.
Commander Kang asked urgently, "Little girl, you still have that thing?"
Tang Yue nodded. "Isn't this quite simple?" she thought. "Many alchemists can do it. Even the least skilled talisman masters can." Thinking about this era, Tang Yue understood.
"Does the military buy medicine prescriptions? I know how to do that."
Commander Kang...
He really wanted to firmly say no, but if this thing was really useful, it would be a huge help to the army.
"Hmph, that depends on whether it works or not."
"You don't need to worry about the results, I guarantee they'll be excellent."
Commander Kang and Chang Yin both felt a glimmer of hope. If it really worked...
Chang Yin came over and pulled the chair Tang Yue was sitting in. "Let's go."
Tang Yue...
Is she in such a hurry? She hasn't even eaten yet.
"Where's the food?"
Commander Kang...
Often hidden...
The two were so engrossed in their conversation that they had completely forgotten about eating. Commander Kang looked at Tang Yue with a helpless expression; what time was it, and this little girl was still thinking about food?
Chang Yin handed a lunchbox to Tang Yue, "Shall we eat here?"
Tang Yue had already opened her lunchbox. "I'm not going anywhere else. I'm starving."
Commander Kang didn't stop her. If Tang Yue hadn't said she was hungry, Commander Kang would have urged her to hurry up and make the truth serum.
Tang Yue ate slowly and methodically, though not slowly at all. Chang Yin and Commander Kang were watching her, but Tang Yue didn't seem to have any trouble digesting her food. After finishing her meal, Tang Yue stood up. "Where should we get the medicinal herbs?"
Commander Kang couldn't wait any longer. "Just take her to the clinic's pharmacy. How long will it take you to prepare?"
Tang Yue thought about it and figured it should be ready in ten minutes, but the old man was definitely taking advantage of her. Also, wouldn't something that's too easy to make fetch a low price?
"About two hours. It depends."
Commander Kang had no time to ponder Tang Yue's little schemes; he was focused on getting Tang Yue to finish making the medicine as soon as possible and urged Chang Yin to take her there quickly.
This was Tang Yue's first time visiting a pharmacy in this era. As she opened each medicine cabinet, her brows furrowed deeper and deeper.
The processing methods for these medicines are quite crude, and the efficacy of many of them is not perfect.
Furthermore, the age of these herbs was quite average; none of them were of high quality. Their medicinal properties were also insufficient, but they were usable enough. They were not much different from the ones she had seen on the northern mountain of Daobei Village.
The medicine was prepared quickly, but before that, Tang Yue pulled out all the medicine boxes in the pharmacy and looked at them. When no one was looking, she picked out some seeds and threw them into her spatial storage.
Tang Yue hadn't paid much attention to the situation inside the space. She wondered if anything could grow on those seemingly lawn-like but actually very fertile lands.
She's so busy every day that she hasn't had time for it at all. If some medicinal herbs could be grown there, it would be more convenient to use them later.
Thinking this, Tang Yue planned to check her space when she got back. However, remembering her training schedule for the evening, she shook her head helplessly. She wondered when she'd be finished; she'd have to wait and see.
In less than 20 minutes, Tang Yue had prepared the truth serum, along with an enhanced version of the sleeping potion and its antidote.
