Originally, Oda wanted to use the US warships to sink the Chinese warships that had just provoked them, and teach China a lesson.
But I never expected that the US warships would be so bad, with such low accuracy. What are their soldiers doing? Are they just a makeshift team that was trained on the spot?
"This technology is terrible." Albert was furious. If before he only wanted to teach China a lesson and didn't care too much whether the warship sank or not, now his goal was to make this Chinese warship disappear from the world.
Ignoring everything else, Albert went to the control room himself.
"Get out of the way. I think if this shot hits, you should give me a reasonable explanation."
After speaking, Albert personally controlled the cannon's direction, adjusted the angle, and pressed the fire button. With a "bang," it fired at the Chinese warship once again.
Albert's lips curled into a smile; he refused to believe that this shot would miss.
The expected explosion did not occur, and Albert stood aside in disbelief to look at the Chinese warship. There it was, the Chinese warship still floating peacefully at sea.
"Shit!"
Albert slammed his fist on the control room door, then paced back and forth inside with his hands on his hips.
"This is impossible, absolutely impossible! These warships were tested and adjusted before setting sail, and their accuracy is extremely high. But they have already fired dozens of shots, yet they haven't even touched the Chinese warships. This is not scientific."
Suddenly, the image of Tang Yue's clear yet fierce eyes flashed into Albert's mind, and then many strange and wonderful stories from China came to mind.
Albert, though arrogant, wasn't stupid. He figured that since he couldn't win, it was time to leave. Perhaps it was fate.
After figuring it out, Albert no longer cared about saving face; he wanted to leave Chinese waters as soon as possible, as this land seemed a bit eerie.
However, by sheer coincidence, on the very fishing boat that Oda and his companions had just been on, the Japanese were shouting loudly at Oda and Fujino.
After hearing what was said, the two men turned pale and stared wide-eyed in disbelief, wanting to go to the ship immediately to see what was going on.
Just as Albert was about to give the order to return to base, Oda rushed into the control room.
Albert strode forward and blocked the two men at the door of the control room. "Gentlemen, I don't think you're welcome here."
Furthermore, now that we have received your fishing boat, I think we should return to port.
At this moment, Oda-kun had no time to mock the ineffectiveness of the American warships; he spoke with some anxiety.
“Mr. Albert, please wait a moment. I need to go back to the fishing boat to confirm something. If everything is alright, we will return to port immediately.”
Oda knew the gravity of the situation. He prayed that the treasures were still on the fishing boat and that the soldier who had delivered the message was joking. Although the joke wasn't funny, he thought he would forgive the man.
Albert raised an eyebrow at the two men. "Oda-kun, Fujino-kun, I think I'm qualified to know what you're trying to confirm."
Oda and Fujino looked extremely pale, but if they wanted to get back to the fishing boat now, they needed Albert's help. Moreover, their subordinates had just reported loudly, and many American soldiers on the American warship had already heard it. This news could not be kept secret.
“Mr. Albert, please stop the boat. I need to go back to the fishing boat to check on the treasure.”
"What happened to the treasure? Mr. Oda, please don't tell me that the treasure is damaged. Your fishing boat sailed safely without any collision."
"No, Mr. Albert, please stop the ship immediately."
Albert pressed the tip of his tongue against his back teeth. Although he was very annoyed by Oda's order, seeing that the two seemed to be telling the truth, he still gave the order to the soldier in the control room.
As soon as the warship stopped, the two men took matters into their own hands and began pulling the ropes themselves, without waiting for anyone else to come up and help.
When the fishing boat and the warship came close together, the two men didn't even have time to wait for the ladder before they were about to jump down.
Albert grabbed their arms with both hands. "Oda-kun, Fujino-kun, I think your safety is also part of my mission. Isn't what you're doing wrong?"
He gave his deputy a wink, and the American soldier immediately lowered the rope ladder from the warship.
Oda and Fujino didn't have time to explain and quickly climbed down the ladder onto the fishing boat. Albert thought for a moment and followed closely behind.
At this moment, the Japanese people on the fishing boat were all pale-faced and trembling, unable to explain the situation.
Oda and Fujino had already seen the expressions on these people's faces. Without asking any questions, they hurriedly went down into the cabin to the storeroom.
The bomb on the door was still flashing its red light, showing no signs of anything amiss. Before the two could even begin to wonder, they noticed a missing wooden plank on the wall, far from the door.
The two were terrified and ran over quickly. They then saw through the gaps in the wooden planks that the warehouse was filled with stones that made up most of the ship's hold.
"Baka! What on earth is going on? Can someone explain this to me?"
Oda-kun angrily drew the bayonet from his waist, as if he were about to slash someone's abdomen if he couldn't explain himself.
Fujino's face turned deathly pale. He'd expected it; it had finally come. The bad premonition he'd had had had had its moment had indeed come true, and he suddenly felt a sense of relief.
Albert followed closely behind, and when he saw the ship's hold full of stones, his face turned from green to blue, then blue to purple, then purple to black, and finally he laughed in anger.
He scoffed lightly, "This is the treasure that Japan claims to have brought back from China? You reached an agreement with the US government with just a few shiploads of stones?"
