Chapter 24 Assassination in the Dark

The night was as dark as ink, and a biting wind blew. Tang Yue tiptoed out of bed, carefully avoiding her sleeping family members. Her movements were gentle and cautious, each step seemingly dancing with the night, without making a sound.

Her heart pounded steadily in her chest; she knew that tonight's actions would determine the fate of her family.

Tang Yue concealed a sharp dagger at her waist. She didn't choose a firearm because she understood that tonight's battle required silence, not fire and noise.

Her gaze swept around the room, finally settling on her father's face. His face was etched with the marks of time and anxieties about the future, but even more so with a deep love for his family.

Tang Yue murmured softly, "Dad, everything will be alright when I come back."

Her figure moved silently through the yard like a ghost in the night wind, arriving at the backyard wall. The wall wasn't high, but it was still a considerable obstacle for a little girl who was almost four years old.

However, Tang Yue was no ordinary little girl. She took a deep breath, channeled her spiritual energy, and lightly touched the ground with her toes. Her body leaped up gracefully, like a nimble cat, easily vaulting over the wall.

Her consciousness extended again, slowly searching the back mountain, and soon she had a clear understanding of the situation there.

She could clearly sense the location of those spies, their presence, and even their heartbeats. Tang Yue knew that her consciousness had become one with this mountain forest; she could use the darkness, the trees, and the sound of the wind to become the master of this forest.

She didn't have time to think about how she did it, but it did help her a lot.

She moved silently through the forest, each step landing on the softest fallen leaves, each breath in sync with her surroundings. Her eyes gleamed eerily in the night, like a nocturnal animal searching for its prey.

Finally, she arrived at the big tree. The shadowy figure in the tree seemed to have noticed her arrival, but he didn't move. His hand simply touched his waist, as if he was waiting for something.

Tang Yue's lips curled into a cold smile. Now that she was here, she had taken the initiative.

Her figure appeared and disappeared in the shadows of the trees, like a ghost, slowly approaching the dark shadows in the trees. Her breathing became almost imperceptible, her body blending perfectly with her surroundings. The moment her hand touched the tree trunk, she could feel the dark shadow's heartbeat quicken.

"Who are you?" The shadowy figure's voice was deep and hoarse, tinged with unease.

Tang Yue had never heard this accent before; it seemed this spy was quite capable. He'd even learned Mandarin. It's just that the accent was too heavy.

Tang Yue didn't answer. Her figure suddenly vanished from the shadows of the trees, and the next moment, she appeared behind the shadowy figure. Her dagger gleamed coldly in the moonlight, pointed directly at the shadowy figure's throat.

"I am Tang Yue." One corner of her lips curled up, her voice cold and firm, devoid of any warmth. Of course, this was Tang Yue's perception; to the spies, it sounded like a soft, childlike voice, that of a little girl.

However, he did not think this little girl was an ordinary child.

Feeling the dagger at his throat, the agent's body stiffened instantly; he knew he was at a disadvantage. But he wasn't afraid. How powerful could a little girl be? His hand stealthily reached for the gun at his waist.

"Don't move." Tang Yue's voice seemed to be a whisper from hell. With a slight movement of her dagger, a bloody mark appeared on the shadowy figure's throat.

"What brings you here?" Tang Yue's voice remained icy. She wanted to get information about this espionage operation from this spy, especially how many people participated in the mission.

This lone spy is her only chance; if this doesn't work, she'll be the last of the 23.

The shadowy figure did not answer. A fierce glint flashed in his eyes, and with a sudden movement, he gripped the gun.

But Tang Yue was faster. With a flick of her dagger, a deep, bone-revealing wound appeared on the shadowy figure's wrist. The gun fell to the ground, and the shadowy figure's face instantly turned pale.

"I'll ask you one more time, what brings you here?" Tang Yue's voice carried a hint of threat.

The shadowy figure gritted his teeth, a resolute glint in his eyes. He knew he wouldn't leave here alive tonight without a gun, but he couldn't let their plan fail.

"We're here for..." The shadowy figure didn't finish his sentence before his hand shot out, his fingers gleaming as he held a three-bladed blade that gleamed coldly. Before a smug look could even appear in his eyes, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. Looking down, he saw a large, bloody hole in his chest.

A hint of annoyance flashed in Tang Yue's eyes. She should have only knocked the hidden weapon out of his hand. But the people here were indeed not very durable, and in the heat of the moment, she hadn't thought that far ahead.

But this is for the best; she can't let these spies threaten her family.

She pushed the shadowy figure's corpse off the tree and then vanished silently into the night. She knew she still had 23 enemies to deal with.

Her consciousness extended again; she could sense the location of those spies, their presence, their heartbeats. There was no fear in her heart, only unwavering resolve and determination.

Her figure moved through the night like a ghost, searching for her prey.

In the darkness of night, a silent massacre unfolds...

Tang Yue didn't follow the route the spies had taken; instead, she slowly circled around from the West Mountain. She knew the remaining 23 people hadn't acted yet, but with 23 people together, it wouldn't be easy for Tang Yue to act.
