Tang Yue ignored the man in black's attempt to stop her. Suddenly, a sharp alarm pierced the silence of the warehouse, instantly shattering the surrounding stillness. The man in black closed his eyes in despair. Tang Yue hadn't expected that touching him would trigger the enemy's alarm system.
Almost the instant the alarm sounded, hurried footsteps echoed outside the warehouse. The Japanese reaction speed far exceeded Tang Yue's expectations.
Tang Yue stood in the middle of the warehouse and saw a group of men in black, armed with weapons, rush into the warehouse like a tide, surrounding Tang Yue and the conscious men in black.
Their eyes were brutal and ruthless, and the weapons in their hands gleamed coldly, as if they already regarded Tang Yue as someone who was doomed to die.
Tang Yue's heart sank. The men in black had stopped her twice, and she thought they were wary of her and didn't want her to hurt them. But unexpectedly, when the alarm was triggered, the people who came to her aid were also men in black.
"Is this why you won't let me touch them?"
The man in black glanced at all the men in black staring at them, and sighed helplessly, "Yes. If someone comes to rescue us, or if we manage to regain consciousness through sheer willpower, the alarm will be triggered immediately if we make the slightest move."
Just like now..."
The man in black didn't finish his sentence, but Tang Yue already understood his helplessness. How could they fight? How could they resist? If it were Japanese people coming, they would fight them to the death; killing one would break even, and killing two would be a bonus.
But these were his own compatriots, and they were under the influence of drugs; they would kill each other if they attacked. What could he do?
The men in black were clearly agitated, their daggers and hammers already raised. The sober man in black slowly closed his eyes; he would never fight his own people.
Tang Yue now understood the black-clad men's feelings. With a wave of her hand, all the men froze instantly. Tang Yue turned to look at the black-clad man with his eyes closed, "Do you know them all?"
A soft, sweet voice rang out in the silent warehouse. The man in black had been waiting for the dagger to be swung at him, but instead of pain, the little girl's voice rang out again.
The man in black snapped his eyes open, and there stood his former comrade-in-arms, who was now menacingly raising a heavy hammer. But why wasn't he bringing it down?
Could it be? The man in black became somewhat excited. Could it be that his partner had also woken up?
He asked in a trembling voice, "Old Chen, you're awake?"
The man in black stared intently at the person in front of him, his eyes filled with undisguised hope.
Tang Yue was exasperated by the man in black ignoring her. "Can you answer my question first?"
The man in black completely ignored Tang Yue, treating her as if she were invisible.
Tang Yue...
"No need to look anymore, he's not awake and can't move."
The man in black then turned to look at Tang Yue, his eyes filled with anger. "What did you do to them?"
Tang Yue met his gaze defiantly, "If you want to leave here, then speak properly!"
The man in black... He glanced at his partner again, and spoke as if in resignation, "What did you do to them?"
Shouldn't you answer my question first?
The man in black didn't want to answer, but after a moment, he said, "Ask away."
"You know all these people?"
The man in black shook his head. "I don't know them, but they all speak Mandarin."
What's your name?
The man in black thought for a long time, but he seemed to have forgotten the question; it was as if his brain had gone sluggish and he couldn't recall the answer. After a while, "Fei, Bing?"
He himself was somewhat unsure if this answer was correct. How long had it been since anyone had called him by that name?
"Fei Bing, when were you arrested?"
Fei Bing's eyes were a little red, and each word seemed to be squeezed out from between her teeth, "59, year."
It's now the end of 1966, almost seven years have passed. Tang Yue suddenly didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry!"
Fei Bing looked down at her. His mind was working more smoothly than before, and he could think about some problems more deeply. The little girl in front of him was very strange.
When he was lucid, he had seen many Japanese people. Although he had never seen children, he could sense the arrogant attitude of the Japanese.
This little girl, no. And, she apologized to him for no reason at all.
Tang Yue saw the doubt in his eyes. "I've always said I'm Chinese, but you've never believed me." Looking at Fei Bing's wide eyes, she continued, "I think that 'I'm sorry' just now is what everyone in China wants to say to you."
Fei Bing's eyes reddened again, this time not from bloodshot anger, but from some unknown liquid gathering in them.
He fought back a sob, his voice soft, "Really? Really, a Chinese person?"
Tang Yue nodded vigorously. "Before coming to Japan, I had no idea that such a place existed there. I think it's not that the country didn't want to rescue you, but that it simply didn't know where you had gone."
Tang Yue spoke slowly but firmly. Although she hadn't spent much time in China, she trusted the people she had met. If they knew that such a group of people were suffering here, they would definitely do everything they could to come and save them.
Fei Bing covered his face with one hand, his trembling shoulders betraying his emotions. Tang Yue didn't give him much time to process it, "Can you tell me about your situation?"
Fei Bing composed himself and shook his head. "It's no use. If, and I mean if, you really are Chinese, then you should leave now. It's dangerous here."
