Chapter 394 Tang Yue is missing

394

Tang Yue followed stealthily behind the two, while Li Weihe and Ji Mofei quickened their pace towards the row of Russian military vehicles. Li Weihe was beaming with excitement, his mind racing with anticipation. Ji Mofei, on the other hand, remained vigilant, constantly glancing around.

The two approached the military vehicle. A burly Russian officer with a full beard stepped out. He sharply sized up Li Wei and Timofey, exchanging a pre-arranged signal with Timofey. Once they had communicated, the officer asked sternly in Russian, "Did you bring the goods?"

Timofe nodded quickly, pointed to the wooden box on his back, and replied respectfully, "Sir, it's all here. The journey wasn't easy; we were almost discovered by the Chinese."

The officer snorted coldly, "Hmph, if anything goes wrong, neither of you will live." With that, he waved his hand, and several soldiers stepped forward to lift the wooden crate onto the military vehicle.

Li Wei stared longingly at the military vehicle, not daring to make a move, but in his heart he was calculating his reward.

Seeing that no one paid him any attention, he couldn't help but ask, "Sir, this mission was completed so well, what's our reward...?"

The officer interrupted him impatiently: "You'll get your share. We'll talk about it after we get back and take inventory of the goods."

Just then, several more figures hurried towards them from afar. Tang Yue looked over; these people were in a sorry state, their clothes tattered and torn, likely from traversing the jungle. They were rushing towards them in a panic. Clearly, these people had just met up along the way and were not acquainted with each other.

They soon approached, and one of the tall men, with disheveled hair and eyes filled with both fear and expectation, called out in his broken Russian, "We've brought what you wanted, let us get in the car!"

They were terrified. When they arrived, they saw many people being held down by the Chinese army. If they hadn't run fast and crossed the border, they might have been caught and eaten by now.

Their only hope now is to leave as soon as possible, as far away from China as possible; they never want to return to China in their lives.

The officer frowned, waved to them, and signaled the soldiers to take the men aside for inspection. They were also instructed to exchange a secret signal.

The soldiers approached and roughly searched the packages carried by these men. After confirming that they were all Chinese cultural relics, they shoved the men towards the military vehicle. The men were shocked to find themselves treated disrespected, as if the soldiers were treating them like merchandise.

This was terrifying; my thoughts shattered beyond repair. But the soldiers didn't give them a chance to react. After confiscating the artifacts from their bodies, they locked them in the vehicle and continued to wait.

Several more groups of people arrived in succession, indicating that their operation this time was indeed significant. Tang Yue didn't know how many Chang Yin and his men had arrested; nearly 40 people had arrived so far.

Tang Yue's smile widened. This was the way the elder brother acted. Look, the escort was all military vehicles; how much he valued China.

After waiting for another hour, and with no one else coming, the officer ordered them to go back.

The military vehicle started and slowly drove towards Russian territory. Tang Yue was too lazy to walk, so she simply disappeared and sat in the officer's car, sitting side by side with him in the back seat.

There was no other way; the temperature in Russia was even lower than at the border, and Tang Yue didn't want to walk in the snow and wind.

After driving for more than two hours, the military vehicle arrived at a heavily guarded military base. The base was surrounded by barbed wire and sentry posts, and soldiers with live ammunition patrolled back and forth.

Tang Yue's gaze swept over their sidearms again and again. "The Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD) uses a gas-operated automatic system with a tilting bolt locking mechanism. It has high accuracy and an effective range of about 1,000 meters. It is the world's first sniper rifle specifically designed for military use. I've also heard that it is sturdy and durable."

Tang Yue smiled. "Well, it wasn't a wasted trip." However, now was not the time to take action. Tang Yue felt that these cultural relics couldn't remain with the military indefinitely. She wanted to follow these relics and find their final destination in Russia.

After that, well, of course I took them home.

Tang Yue was still at the stage of not understanding Russian, so she couldn't comprehend the military's secrets. However, this didn't stop her from causing trouble. She remembered a few things from this trip; cultural relics were the main focus, but she didn't intend to overlook anything else, especially Russia's technological development.

She now regretted not learning more about Russia's development from the battalion commander; she had no idea what the area they were in was rich in. Sigh, coming out unprepared was unwise.

Therefore, Tang Yue plans to make this trip quick and decisive. Once she is fully prepared, she will make several more trips.

At this moment, on the Chinese border, Sun Jinan was getting anxious. "Report! Battalion Commander, all positions have been reported, but the company commander is nowhere to be seen." He was worried that the company commander had disappeared.

Tang Jianye rushed over, "Battalion Commander Chang, is there any news about Xiao Yueyue?"

Chang Yin kept his gaze fixed on Russia on the other side of the river. He shook his head. "Not at the moment."

Tang Jianye felt like he couldn't catch his breath. "I've already contacted Lai Xiang. She went to the cowshed with me last night and hasn't come back since."

However, she said there were two large stacks of firewood in her yard. The firewood was already chopped and stacked very neatly.

Chang Yin's expression remained unchanged; he was now certain that Tang Yue had already gone to Russia. He felt a surge of anger, unsure where to vent it. Why didn't the little girl tell him what she was thinking? This meant she had left the country without permission. Sigh!
