Dongfang Yu remembered, "Dad, the atmosphere at work was really strange today. When I was getting water in the break room, I overheard some colleagues whispering in a corner, saying that the boss was going to a building in the eastern suburbs tonight, apparently to meet with some military personnel."
I pretended not to notice and quietly moved closer. They mentioned the recent scandals of stolen items in the city, suggesting that the items being moved might be related to those incidents. However, they were vague, and I didn't dare ask further, fearing it would arouse suspicion.
Dongfang Xuan continued, "It's the same on my end. During lunch break, my colleagues and I were chatting, and they vaguely mentioned that a batch of important items was to be moved, which seemed to be related to China."
I didn't dare ask any more questions. When they saw me listening, one of the older Russians next to me gave me a look that stopped me. Later, I found an opportunity to ask a colleague I was on good terms with, but he also hesitated and only told me not to ask, or I might get into trouble.
I wasn't satisfied, so before leaving get off work I subtly inquired a few more times, and learned that the boss would probably be going over around 9 PM tonight. But I didn't know exactly what for. Sigh, there's no one who can check.
They genuinely wanted to know more, but even if they did, it wouldn't be of much use. They would just be speculating amongst themselves at home.
"Nonsense!" Dongfang Qinghua exclaimed in alarm.
Upon hearing this, Tang Yue's heart skipped a beat, and she pressed on, "Do you know the exact location of that building?"
Dongfang Yu recalled, "That building was in the eastern suburbs, very conspicuous. It was a gray-white building, heavily guarded. Whenever I passed by there, I could see soldiers patrolling with live ammunition. My colleagues said in private that the place was very mysterious and ordinary people couldn't get in at all."
Tang Yue pondered for a moment, then turned to the Dongfang family and said, "Uncles and aunts, brothers and sisters, I think tonight's incident might be related to the cultural relic clues I'm investigating. I need to go check that building. Don't worry, once I figure things out, I'll arrange for everyone to return to China as soon as possible."
Dongfang Qinghua looked at Tang Yue with concern: "Little Yueyue, it's too dangerous for you to go alone, maybe..." Tang Yue interrupted him, saying confidently:
"Uncle, don't worry, I have a way to protect myself. You can continue your normal lives for now, and we should be leaving in two days. You can make the arrangements secretly beforehand."
Dongfang Yi stood up, his attitude serious: "Tang Yue, I'll go with you! I'm familiar with this place and can be of help." Tang Yue looked at Dongfang Yi, thinking that she was going to use him as a translator anyway, "Okay, let's go together."
As Dongfang Yi and Tang Yue walked down the street, Dongfang Yi asked, "Tang Yue, what do you think those Russians are up to?"
