Clearly, the county magistrate hadn't expected the goddess to do this, but did it matter? He turned and glared at the young man, "We will follow the goddess's orders. The Chinese soldiers are here to help us."
"Can you drive tanks yourselves?"
Upon hearing the county magistrate's words, the able-bodied men instantly fell silent. The goddess must have known they were completely incompetent, which is why she cooperated with the Chinese army.
"Quick! Get on the tanks and teach the Americans a lesson!" one of the tank commanders shouted excitedly. The remaining seven soldiers nimbly climbed onto the tanks, skillfully started them, adjusted the guns, and fired at the American positions.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" Deafening explosions rang out as shells streaked across the sky like meteors, landing precisely in the American ranks. Instantly, massive fireballs erupted, and American soldiers were blown to pieces, their screams echoing throughout the battlefield.
The US troops were stunned by this sudden turn of events. They stared in disbelief as the tanks that had belonged to them turned their guns on them.
"What happened? How did these tanks end up in the enemy's hands?" The US military commander confronting Yang Shengjun roared hoarsely, his face filled with rage.
“That loser Johnson should be court-martialed immediately, right now!”
Johnson and his men had spotted the main force of the US army. They were overjoyed; they had finally escaped and were no longer going to die. In just this short escape route, the number of US soldiers had plummeted from over 500 to less than 200. This demonstrates the formidable military strength of Shanhe County.
However, before they reached their final safe haven, the sound of gunfire erupted from behind. Johnson turned around in alarm.
His eyes were practically bulging out, and no matter how thick the smoke and dust were around him, he couldn't close his mouth. Why? How could this be?
These tanks are clearly theirs; they just disappeared. Why, why are they reappearing in this state?
Smith panicked. Looking at the chaotic situation, he shouted, "Never mind, fight back first! Protect yourselves!" The American soldiers snapped out of their daze and pointed their guns at the stragglers who had arrived later.
The tank crews quickly turned their guns and opened fire on the Chinese tanks. However, in the brief moment they were stunned and frantically adjusting their positions, the situation on the battlefield changed dramatically.
Yang Shengjun seized the opportunity and shouted, "Brothers, charge!" The morale of the Chinese soldiers, who were originally on the defensive, soared, and they charged towards the American troops like tigers descending the mountain.
Under Tang Yue's command, the able-bodied men of Shanhe County also flanked from the other side. They fired their homemade guns incessantly. Although their firepower was not as good as the American army's weapons, they had the advantage of numbers. Bullets rained down on the American army.
Under attack from both sides, the US troops were completely thrown into disarray. Soldiers scattered and trampled each other as they fled. Some were hit by tank fire and instantly turned to dust; others were struck by bullets and fell into pools of blood; still others fell and suffered head injuries in the chaos, losing their ability to fight.
The battlefield was filled with smoke and flames. American soldiers were either dead or wounded, and the once invincible army was now in complete disarray.
On the American positions, the air was thick with the acrid smoke of gunpowder, and severed limbs were scattered everywhere. The burly, sharp-eyed American commander, Williams, gripped his binoculars tightly, his face ashen.
Watching the soldiers flee in disarray, his knuckles turned white from the force of his grip. As a seasoned veteran of countless battles, he knew that if he didn't turn the tide in time, the entire battle would be lost.
His best outcome would be to become a prisoner. How could that be? How could it be possible? He absolutely could not accept this fact.
"Hold on! Everyone hold on!" Williams roared into the communicator, his voice so loud it hurt the eardrums of the surrounding soldiers.
He quickly scanned the battlefield, his gaze finally settling on the six tanks still roaring on his side. A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes. "Tank unit, assemble immediately and blast those damned yellow pigs to smithereens!"
Under Williams' command, the previously chaotic American tanks began to slowly assemble, their guns turned to face the Chinese tanks and charging Chinese soldiers. Amidst the deafening roar, the tank tracks carved deep furrows in the ground, raising clouds of dust.
Tang Yue stood on high ground, her white clothes fluttering in the wind. She had originally intended to do the same thing and store the six American tanks into her spatial dimension, but seeing the Chinese soldiers fighting bravely, she had a change of heart and abandoned the idea.
No, there are too many people here. Although many people in the upper echelons of China know about her abilities, it doesn't mean she can reveal them publicly. So, it's best to keep a low profile for now.
Her consciousness spread like a tide, reaching the nearest mountain. A moment later, a sly smile appeared on her lips.
Tang Yue picked up the communicator, her voice calm and firm: "Battalion Commander Yang, I'm ordering four tanks to chase the US forces up the mountain at the 2 o'clock position, to draw the attention of the six US tanks!"
Battalion Commander Yang ordered all infantry to stay put and collect the prisoners of war, and to absolutely not go up the mountain.
Then, she contacted the tank commander and ordered, "On command, advance towards the 2 o'clock position up the mountain and lure the enemy in!"
Then, Tang Yue turned to the county magistrate beside her, her eyes filled with undeniable authority: "You immediately lead the able-bodied men to capture any stragglers of American soldiers at the foot of the mountain. Be thorough; don't let a single one escape. Don't forget, these are prisoners of war; we can use them to extort benefits from the American army."
The county magistrate was startled and quickly bowed to accept the order: "Yes, Goddess! Your servant will take care of it immediately!"
