As Sun Jinan spoke, his eyes searched the surroundings. He quickly noticed some rough vines hanging down from the edge of the pit. Although they weren't growing very well, they looked sturdy enough.
He tugged at the vines to test their sturdiness, then turned to Tang Yue and said, "Company Commander, these vines are good; we can use them for support to get down." Sun Jinan spoke in a very low voice, and Tang Yue and Zhang Dabing both heard him clearly.
Tang Yue was the first to walk to the vines, gripped them tightly with both hands, and lightly touched the edge of the pit with her toes, her body sliding down the vines like a nimble ape. During the descent, she skillfully used leverage, sometimes pushing off the pit wall with her feet to adjust her direction, and sometimes tightening her grip to control her speed.
A mist swirled around her, and moonlight shone through the mist onto her, outlining a mysterious silhouette.
Sun Jinan and Zhang Dabing followed closely behind. Relying on his brute strength, Zhang Dabing's descent was somewhat rough, but still swift.
Sun Jinan, on the other hand, moved with agility, twisting and turning on the vines like a nimble lynx. The three of them descended with fluid grace, appearing and disappearing in the mist.
The location they chose happened to be unguarded by American troops. Tang Yue had already scouted the area; there were probably four or five hundred people working in the pit, but only 23 American soldiers were responsible for guarding them.
They were positioned at different points, so it was impossible to eliminate all the American soldiers at once. Therefore, they had to go down first and deal with them one by one later.
Inside the pit, the people of Bianyue Kingdom, who were working, happened to look up and saw this scene, and their eyes widened in disbelief. They saw three figures slowly descending in the mist and moonlight, like gods descending to earth.
Especially the first one to descend, dressed in flowing white robes and with a veil covering her face, looked like a deity descending from the mist. Of course, it was fortunate that Tang Yue didn't try to look cool by descending headfirst.
The tools in the hands of the people fell one after another, and some even knelt on the ground, muttering incantations and worshipping the three men.
Finally, the three landed safely. Tang Yue gave the crowd a reassuring look, signaling them to be quiet.
Although the people were deeply shocked, they suppressed their astonishment and watched the three "gods" quietly.
Tang Yue quickly devised a plan: "The low visibility due to the fog is perfect for our operation."
We'll split up. Ji Nan, you'll flank from the left, using the terrain to get close to the soldiers near the pit. Remember, no American survivors are allowed where you pass.
"Soldier, you flank from the right; I'll go straight in from the front. Remember, you absolutely mustn't make a sound. If we alert anyone else, these civilians will be in danger."
Then, the three of them, like ghosts, blended into the shadows in the pit and stealthily moved toward the American soldiers.
Tang Yue moved with light steps, each step landing precisely on the gravel and dirt without making a sound. Her gaze was fixed on the nearest American soldier, who had his back to her and was idly cracking his whip.
Tang Yue held her breath and slowly approached. When she was only a few steps away from the soldier, she suddenly sprang into action, covering his mouth with her left hand and stabbing his throat with her right hand like a sharp blade. The American soldier's eyes widened, and before he could even struggle, he collapsed to the ground.
Meanwhile, Sun Jinan moved like a cheetah among the rocks and shadows in the pit. He spotted two soldiers chatting idly together and, under the cover of the mist, silently circled behind them.
He darted forward, grabbed the necks of the two men with both hands, and twisted them hard. Two crisp cracking sounds rang out clearly in the quiet night. The two soldiers, still in shock, were lifeless.
Zhang Dabing, meanwhile, had his eye on an American soldier patrolling back and forth along the edge of the pit. The American soldier looked around warily, his footsteps echoing inside the pit. Zhang Dabing waited patiently, and the instant the American soldier turned around, he darted out like an arrow, grabbing the American soldier's neck from behind, his arm veins bulging as he tightened his grip.
The American soldier struggled desperately, kicking his legs wildly, but couldn't make a sound, and gradually fell silent.
As one American soldier after another fell silently, the last few remaining soldiers at the edge of the pit seemed to become alert. Why was it so quiet all of a sudden? They immediately sensed something was wrong, gripped their guns tightly, and scanned their surroundings in a panicked manner.
"Something's up! Watch out, all of you!" an American soldier shouted. Seeing this, Tang Yue knew she couldn't delay any longer. She gave Sun Jinan and Zhang Dabing a look, and the three of them rushed towards the remaining American soldiers from different directions like a whirlwind.
Tang Yue nimbly dodged the bullets, rolled over and appeared in front of an American soldier, kicked the gun out of his hand, and then jumped up and punched him in the temple. The American soldier fell to the ground.
Sun Jinan and Zhang Dabing also engaged in close combat with the enemy, exchanging blows with precise and deadly precision. Through their coordinated efforts, the last few American soldiers were quickly dealt with.
The entire process took only a few minutes, and 23 American soldiers were silently eliminated in the fog.
Tang Yue lightly patted the dust off her hands, looking at the corpses scattered on the ground with an indifferent expression. "Next, we should investigate the whereabouts of these iron ore deposits."
At this moment, the people of Bianyue Kingdom still looked at them with eyes full of awe and gratitude, as if witnessing a divine redemption.
Tang Yue had seen too many of those looks lately; they seemed far more miserable than the people of Shanhe County. This pit was so deep; Tang Yue wondered how they usually managed to climb up it.
Since we've run into them, we can't just ignore it. Tang Yue stepped forward, "The Americans have been dealt with; you can go home now."
