Chapter 48 "Rivals Meet"

48

Tang Yue's face was expressionless. She felt that if the world outside was like this, she really wanted to go somewhere else.

Chang Yin couldn't answer Tang Yue's question. He was now very suspicious about why this little girl had been kidnapped by human traffickers.

Despite his bad temper and his antagonistic relationship with Yang Shengjun, he still admired Yang Shengjun's skill; every punch and kick was the result of hard work and dedication. He never expected this little girl to take him down so easily.

"I'm sorry, little girl, you should rest for a while."

He was about to walk out when he said, "Wait a minute."

Chang Yin turned around, and Tang Yue asked directly, "Uncle, where are my grandfather, mother, and brothers?"

"We've already arranged for someone to pick them up from the train station; they should be able to come over tonight."

Tang Yue nodded and quietly sat back down in her chair.

They were quite far from the train station when she realized she could no longer sense its location.

The questioning of Tang Shengkai went smoothly. He knew nothing except for concealing Tang Yue's abilities; he told everything else.

Chang Yin entered the interrogation room where Tang Shengkai was. Tang Shengkai quickly stood up and said, "Comrade Chang, where is my daughter? She's young and timid, and she hasn't seen much of the world. I'm worried about leaving her alone."

Chang Yin wanted to twitch his lips. His daughter was timid? He didn't even know what was considered bold anymore.

"She's fine. When did your daughter start practicing kung fu?"

Tang Shengkai's heart skipped a beat. What was going on? Had Yueyue given herself away? No way, he and her mother had repeatedly told her not to give herself away.

Tang Shengkai swallowed hard. "Comrade Chang, what is my daughter doing?"

Chang Yin sensed that Tang Shengkai knew something, but Tang Yue hadn't actually done anything excessive; she had been abducted by human traffickers. Asking too many questions now would be tantamount to interrogation.

This is unfair to the father and daughter.

"It's nothing. I was just asking, and she didn't seem scared."

Tang Shengkai felt relieved. He smiled and said, "She's never been out before and doesn't understand anything. Please forgive her if she does anything wrong."

Chang Yin shook her head. After leaving, she went to the leader's office. The leader had already heard about the situation. After Chang Yin explained the situation, the leader felt that the young girl was not to blame.

After that, they arranged for other people to take their statements.

This time, a female soldier came. She had a frosty expression when she entered, but she paused for a moment when she saw the young girl in front of her, and then her attitude became much better.

Qiu Yun had always secretly loved Chang Yin, but Chang Yin had never given her a kind look. She had just heard that he had asked her to come and inquire about a young girl's situation, and Chang Yin had given her detailed instructions, except for mentioning her age.

Qiu Yun felt a tightness in her chest. Although she wouldn't let personal feelings interfere with asking about important matters, her attitude certainly wouldn't be very good.

But she hadn't expected it to be such a young child. Qiu Yun suddenly realized how narrow-minded she had been. Her jealousy had made her forget that this was a human trafficking case. Usually, it involved very young children.

"Hello, I'm Qiu Yun. Don't be nervous, young lady. I just want to know the specifics."

"Little sister, what's your name?"

Tang Yue noticed that this young woman's expression changed quite quickly, but since she spoke politely, she was happy to cooperate.

"My name is Tang Yue."

"Tang Yue, what a beautiful name. How were you abducted?"

......

The question-and-answer session went very smoothly. Near the end, Qiu Yun remarked, "Little girl, you're very smart and lucky. Without your father's excellent hearing, the rescue might have taken even longer."

You saved so many lives. Your sister salutes you.

Tang Yue smiled and said, "Thank you for the compliment, big sister."

"By the way, Yueyue, do you know kung fu?"

"Kung Fu? What's that?"

Tang Yue's eyes were blank. Qiu Yun stared at Tang Yue's eyes for a long time. She was a psychology student and had prepared a lot of things to test this girl. But since she was just a little girl, she felt it was unnecessary.

From her description, Qiu Yun knew that the child was very agile and fast. Qiu Yun sensed that this child was unusual, but she couldn't see any clues yet.

She stood up. "Little Yueyue, I think this has been a very pleasant conversation. It's nice to meet you."

Qiu Yun then left.

Tang Yue sat in a chair, bored and lost in thought. After a long time without anyone in the room, she simply sat down and began to cultivate.

This is a strategic military location. She had no intention of knowing any Chinese secrets, nor did she try to eavesdrop.

However, she had sensed the situation on the mountain while at home, and it was only here that she realized the range of her consciousness was currently limited. She needed to seize the time to cultivate and become stronger as soon as possible.

Qiu Yun came out smiling. Wang Ming breathed a sigh of relief. He had thought Qiu Yun would have to come out lying down, judging from her expression when she went in.

Their leader's words were veiled, but he sensed Qiu Yun's anger, though he didn't know why. Seeing her smiling now, Wang Ming figured things should go smoothly.

This little girl is quite capable.

Qiu Yun reported Tang Yue's situation to her superiors fairly, without any personal bias. The investigation concluded without any issues, and Lin Cuicui and the others have been taken outside the military base.

Chang Yin received orders and knew their final destination was the South Island. Having missed their train that day, the military arranged a guesthouse for them outside the base. They also helped them buy tickets for tomorrow. Afterwards, Chang Yin saw Tang Shengkai and Tang Yue off from the base.

Lin Cuicui and the others waited in a small hut near the military base. Lin Cuicui paced anxiously back and forth, while the three Tang brothers sat listlessly in chairs. Old Li was also in low spirits.
