Chapter 490 The Three Meet

Chang Yin grabbed his arm and pushed him forward with the force of the waves. The two of them finally got closer to the shallows.

Soaked to the bone, they scrambled ashore in a disheveled state, the sand mixed with seawater making it difficult to even stand. "Old Fei?" Tang Shengkai recognized him first, his voice filled with anxiety.

Chang Yin's pupils suddenly contracted. He saw that Fei Shuwen's entire face was swollen and deformed, his left eye was so bruised that he could hardly open it, and there was dried blood crust on the corner of his mouth. When he walked, his right leg was obviously weak. Every stumble made their hearts clench.

Upon hearing the call, Fei Shuwen's previously unsteady steps suddenly regained strength. He tried to raise his hand to greet them, but the movement aggravated his wound, causing him to groan in pain.

"Old... Chang..." he uttered hoarsely, struggling to his feet. He immediately turned his head to glance around, still wary of being discovered. But after these few movements, his knees buckled, and he collapsed onto the sand.

Chang Yin and Tang Shengkai rushed over almost simultaneously. Chang Yin steadily supported Fei Shuwen's back, his hand touching the burning hot area, only then realizing that the skin on the back of Fei Shuwen's neck had been charred black.

Tang Shengkai glanced around warily, then tore off the hem of his shirt and quickly wrapped it around Fei Shuwen's bleeding arm: "Old Fei, hang in there! We're here!"

“Control Center… documents…” Fei Shuwen trembled as he stuffed the documents in his arms into Chang Yin’s hands, only then did he completely relax and collapse into his companion’s arms.

As Chang Yin helped Fei Shuwen unfold the documents, his pupils suddenly contracted—the four words "undersea project" gleamed with an eerie blue light in the firelight.

"Never mind that for now!" Tang Shengkai tore open Fei Shuwen's charred sleeve and gasped. Fei Shuwen's forearm was covered with gruesome whip marks, old and new wounds intertwined, clearly indicating that he had undergone brutal interrogation.

He turned to Chang Yin and said, "We need to find a place to treat his wounds; he has a fever!"

Chang Yin nodded and carefully carried Fei Shuwen on his back. The sea breeze ruffled the hems of their clothes, and the sounds of chaos from the distant base could still be faintly heard. Before Fei Shuwen lost consciousness, he vaguely heard Chang Yin's deep voice in his ear: "Don't worry, we're here."

These simple words were like a reassuring pill, finally putting his mind at ease after a long period of anxiety.
