"Little girl, let go, or else..."
Tang Yue completely ignored the old woman's shouts and held onto her arm tightly.
"You thief, I'm calling the police!" Lai Xiang's angry voice came over.
The old woman turned her head and squinted at Lai Xiang, "Why do you call me a thief? Did you see me stealing anything? And you even called the police? You're bullying the people."
Lai Xiang wasn't afraid of being accused. "Hehe, whether you stole it or not, just open your bag and you'll know."
"Look? What are you looking at? What gives you the right to look? What right do you have to go through my bag?"
Lai Xiang was furious. She glared at the old woman and said, "Heh, I have no right. Then just wait for the police to come and see how you try to argue then."
"Hmph! Why should whatever you say go? I want to go home right now."
He then turned and glared fiercely at Tang Yue, "Little girl, if you don't let go, don't blame me for being impolite."
While speaking, he used his body and arms to exert force at the same time, trying to shake Tang Yue off.
Tang Yue was unaware that in this era, even if someone was caught stealing, they couldn't just open the bag. Seeing that the old woman seemed fearless, Tang Yue wasn't about to let her get away with it.
To avoid revealing her extraordinary strength despite her small size, she grabbed the old woman's arm with both of her small hands. As she exerted force, Tang Yue used her fingers to transform spiritual energy into hands, directly opening the old woman's bag and turning it upside down.
The old woman was struggling against Tang Yue when, in a moment of inattention, her bag opened, and its contents spilled all over the floor.
Suddenly, the whole world fell silent.
The old woman's bag contained quite a few things: two packs of cigarettes, several pieces of clothing, and two beautifully packaged boxes. The camera happened to fall onto one of the clothes.
Lai Xiang opened her eyes wide, stepped forward, squatted down, picked up the camera, and examined it carefully. At this moment, a few people came out from the crowd.
"Hey, aren't these the clothes from my counter? How did they end up here?"
"Oh dear, I knew the accounts didn't match up. Turns out you stole these two cartons of cigarettes. I was wondering what you were doing loitering around my counter."
"You kept saying you were looking at this, then you were looking at that—turns out you were stealing. Humph, a thief like you deserves to be arrested by the police and sent to a farm for re-education."
"Yes, I just wrapped the gift boxes according to the customer's request, but when the customer came to pick them up, I couldn't find them. I had to wrap two more for the customer, and it turns out you took them."
"We must take her to the police station."
The old woman's face turned to despair; she knew she had nowhere to run. A flicker of regret crossed her eyes. She should have taken some and left; now it was all too late.
The police arrived at the scene quickly, swiftly brought the situation under control, and handcuffed the elderly woman. Lai Xiang looked very unwell; she knew that thefts frequently occurred in the mall, but she never expected it to happen to her so soon.
After Lai Xiang and the other people in the mall explained the situation, the police prepared to leave with the old woman and several witnesses.
Tang Yue's family had clearly made a significant contribution. Someone had placed them at the forefront, reporting their actions to the police, with particular emphasis on Tang Yue.
"Thank you so much, thank you so much." Lai Xiang's voice was filled with gratitude, her gaze fixed on Tang Yue, her eyes brimming with admiration. If it weren't for this little sister, she would have been in serious trouble today.
"You're welcome, big sister, you're very kind."
Lai Xiang smiled, and then went to the police station with Tang Yue and the others.
The police took their statements as required, and by the time it was all over, it was already dark.
Tang Yue wanted to say goodbye to Lai Xiang, but Lai Xiang refused.
"Little sister, you've helped me so much, I really need to thank you properly. It's time for dinner, let me treat you to a meal at the state-run restaurant. Let's go."
"No, big sister. We have to catch a train soon, and it's not safe outside at night. You should go home early."
Lai Xiang really liked Tang Yue. She squatted down and looked at Tang Yue, "Little sister, don't worry about me. I grew up here, no one dares to touch me."
Tang Yue seemed to understand the meaning behind Lai Xiang's words, but it was indeed late, and her parents and grandfather were always very reserved, so they couldn't relax when they went out to eat with her.
"Really, it's not necessary, big sister. There will be other opportunities in the future."
Seeing that Tang Yue really didn't want to go, Lai Xiang didn't force her. She looked at Tang Shengkai and the others, "Big brother, wait a moment, I'll be back in a bit."
After saying that, she grabbed Tang Yue and tried to leave, asking, "Where are you taking my daughter?"
Lin Cuicui panicked. She dared not let her daughter out casually now. What if she couldn't find her again?
Lai Xiang smiled and turned around to reply, "Don't worry, sister-in-law."
As he spoke, he pointed to a small supply and marketing cooperative not far behind him, which was still lit up, and said, "I'm taking my little sister to buy some things."
Lin Cuicui wanted to say no, but Lai Xiang had already left with Tang Yue.
"Little sister, what's your name?"
"My name is Tang Yue, Sister Lai, what's your name?"
"You know my surname is Lai?"
Tang Yue blinked her big eyes and nodded, "Yes, I heard the sales clerks calling you Director Lai when I was at the mall."
"Haha, little Yueyue, you're so smart." Lai Xiang happily patted Tang Yue's hair.
"Yueyue, my name is Lai Xiang. Let's be good friends from now on?"
Friends? Tang Yue found the word intriguing. She really didn't have many friends, which was undoubtedly a very attractive thing for her.
"Is it okay? We're so old..."
