When Lü Yong made his move and met Tang Yue's gaze, he instinctively flinched. How strange! How could a little girl have such a fierce look in her eyes, and what did she just say?
Lu Yong pointed a trembling finger at Tang Yue, "You, you're undermining the unity among the people in socialism, I'm going to sue you."
Tang Yue was almost laughing in anger at him. "You brought a group of people to my doorstep to cause trouble. Who exactly is undermining socialist unity?"
Also, do you know my family is a military dependent's home?
"What's wrong with military dependents? Do they have special privileges? Are you saying that we ordinary people are inferior to military dependents?"
"Don't make a big deal out of this. You want to eat pork? Isn't it said that wild boars live in the mountains? You can go and catch them too. As long as you share half of what you catch with the village, the rest is yours. What are you dawdling over here for?"
Lu Yong retorted, "No way! Why should you take state property and keep it for yourselves? I'm going to sue you."
Village Chief Li paced anxiously, unsure of what to say or how to offer advice.
Tang Yue's eyes were cold. "Go ahead and sue if you want. I'll also go and tell you about the good things you educated youth have done."
Tang Yue then looked at Village Chief Li and said, "Village Chief Li, do you know all the educated youth who came to cause trouble today? Please make a list."
Upon hearing this, two female educated youths standing among the villagers stepped forward. "Little sister, we didn't get involved with them. Don't include us when you report them."
Tang Yue looked at the spot where the two had come from and said, "Tell me your names."
"My name is Lü Dahong, and her name is Zhao Xiaoyue."
Tang Yue nodded. Some of the troublemaking educated youth standing behind Lü Yong were having second thoughts, but Tang Yue wasn't going to let them off the hook. They hadn't been in Daobei Village for very long, but they had already caused quite a bit of trouble. She was fed up.
Village Chief Li felt that since this matter concerned his own village, there was no need to make it public knowledge.
"Um, Yueyue, it's about the conflict in the village, you see..."
Chang Yin's gaze towards Village Chief Li turned somewhat cold; this village chief was truly clueless.
Chang Yin asked Village Chief Li directly, "So, Village Chief Li, how do you think this matter should be handled?"
Village Chief Li was intimidated by Chang Yin's icy demeanor and didn't know how to respond. However, he also felt that Tang Yue's aggressive manner was inappropriate.
“These educated youths were wrong today. I’ve already made arrangements regarding the wild boar. It’s not just the Tang family; it will be the same for every family in the future. Half of the wild animals we hunt will be handed over to the village, and the rest will belong to our own family.”
"Oh, so Village Chief Li still thinks it was right for them to cause trouble today?"
"No, no, no, this, this can't be right. It's just..."
Chang Yin shook his head; this Village Chief Li was truly beyond redemption.
"I heard you've already told the commune you you don't want to be the head of Daobei Village anymore, but there's still no result?"
Village Chief Li's face paled upon hearing this. He had mentioned it briefly, but hadn't been so resolute; in truth, he still very much wanted to be the village chief.
“I spoke with the commune director a few days ago, and he said he would have Secretary Qian come to the village to give it to my brother’s family again and do some persuasion.”
But Secretary Qian hasn't come over these past few days.
Chang Yin understood. The Secretary Qian he was talking about was the spy Tang Yue had discovered in the cave a few days ago. He was impersonating the village secretary and had a very thorough understanding of the entire commune.
"Are you very familiar with Secretary Qian?"
The village chief sensed that Chang Yin's voice was unusually cold when he asked the question, so he quickly shook his head.
"No, no, we're not familiar with each other. He's the secretary of the commune, and I'm just a small village head. I don't usually exchange more than a few words with him."
Chang Yin noticed that Village Chief Li's eyes didn't waver, so he was probably telling the truth. However, his family should also be thoroughly investigated.
Furthermore, the village's brigade leader really needs to be replaced. Having such a weak person as the brigade leader greatly hinders the village's socialist construction.
Tang Yue pulled Lin Cuicui's hand and walked into the house. Tang Nan and Tang Dong were blocked by Tang Bei and only stood at the door without coming out.
Old Li slammed the door shut. Lü Yong tried to shout again from outside, but many of the other educated youths who had come with him had already kept their distance. His momentum gone, Lü Yong didn't dare to cause any more trouble. He angrily left with the words, "You just wait," and then departed.
Chang Yin followed Lin Cuicui and the others into the courtyard. The villagers outside gradually dispersed, and Chang Yin sat down at the table where they were eating.
"You've been in Daobei Village for a few days, who do you think is more suitable to be the brigade leader?"
Old Li and Lin Cuicui looked at each other in disbelief. They were supposed to be the ones to elect the brigade leader? It sounded so unbelievable.
Lin Cuicui shook her head, "We haven't been here long and haven't had much contact with the villagers, so we don't know exactly what their skills are."
Old Li walked to the side, lowered his eyes and thought for a moment, "Actually, Li Qingyang is not bad. He seems like a steady person. And I heard that he also has a junior high school education."
Chang Yin asked, "Who is Li Qingyang? Can I bring him here to meet you?"
Old Li glanced out of the yard; the person was already gone. He called out to the house.
"Da Bei, go to your Aunt Miao's house and call your Uncle Qing Yang over."
"Okay, Grandpa, I'll go right away."
Li Qingyang and Miao Yujiao rushed over, and before they even entered the courtyard, Miao Yujiao started shouting in her loud voice.
"What's going on? Who's the fool who's causing trouble again?"
Chang Yin raised an eyebrow at Miao Yujiao's feisty tone, thinking she seemed to be a capable person.
Li Qingyang walked ahead and strode into the courtyard. "Uncle Li, you were looking for me?"
