Tang Bei and his two companions nodded solemnly, secretly vowing to find a way to rescue their compatriots and make these atrocious American soldiers pay a heavy price.
The old man seemed to read the children's minds. He sighed and gazed into the distance. Finally, as if he had made a decision, he turned his gaze to the three children.
For some reason, the moment he first saw the three children from a distance, he felt a strange pang of tenderness. He couldn't help but laugh at himself, realizing that in his current situation, he truly couldn't protect anyone.
"Children, you shouldn't be in such a dangerous place. Leave quickly before those people find you. Remember, you are the future of China, the hope of China."
China needs you. Don't do anything foolish for our sake. Go back to where you belong.
Tang Bei and the others shook their heads, holding back their tears. They wouldn't leave. Since they had encountered this situation, they would never leave like this.
The old man seemed to have seen through their thoughts. After thinking for a long time, he finally made a decision.
He cautiously looked around to make sure no one was watching them before quietly telling the three a secret. "Children, you must remember what I'm about to say."
Seeing the three men staring intently at him, the old man continued, "I discovered that the US's central control center is at Base 5. The satellite receiving base is also there. As long as the satellite base at Base 5 is destroyed, the US military's control over the entire border region will disappear."
This breaks down the technological barrier between the Chinese military and the US military, and we will no longer be threatened by US technology.
Tang Bei looked at the old man earnestly, "Sir, we know this news is very important. So you must take good care of yourself. The Chinese army needs this news, and even more so, it needs the guidance of experienced veterans."
Tang Dong and Tang Nan both nodded at the old man, their eyes full of agreement. The old man understood what the children meant. He didn't say anything, but a faint smile appeared on his thin, weathered face.
Children in China are all good children.
"Sir, we'll get you out of here right now." Tang Nan stood up and was about to pull the old man away.
The old man didn't move. His legs were already too weak to walk, and the people were afraid he would escape, or that someone would come to rescue him, so his legs were now practically useless. These children were still so young.
He couldn't let the children be harmed. The old man waved his hand, "Children, remember what I said, leave quickly. Go to the nearest Chinese army garrison, find the officer there and ask to speak with the Commander-in-Chief."
They will agree.
Tang Dong knew the old man had reservations, and he also realized that the old man couldn't walk anymore. However, they really could take him away. The old man was stubborn and obstinate; no matter what they said, he wouldn't agree.
Tang Dong's eyes darted around. "Sir, please tell me your name. If we go to the base, how will people believe what we say?"
The old man smiled at Tang Dong. This kid is really smart. If his grandchildren were so outstanding... The old man shook his head. "You don't need to know who I am. Just describe what I look like and they'll know."
Seeing that the old man was definitely not leaving, Tang Bei pulled Tang Nan and Tang Dong away temporarily. They needed to discuss what to do next.
The three Tang brothers pushed open the door to a long-abandoned house, the dust billowing in the moonlight. The room was simply furnished, with a square table and a few wooden chairs neatly arranged; though covered in dust, it was not cluttered at all.
Two glass windows were half-open, the glass covered with cracks and stains. Silvery moonlight streamed in through the window frames, illuminating the spiderwebs hanging in the corners and weaving fine shadows on the floor.
Tang Dong wiped the dust off the chair and sat down first, the chair legs scraping against the ground with a slight sound. "Big brother, second brother, that old gentleman is definitely not simple." There was a hint of anxiety in his voice. "The US military beat and scolded him, but they just wouldn't kill him. There must be a big secret behind this."
Tang Nan wiped the table with his sleeve, sat down heavily, and clenched his fists so tightly they cracked. "But what can we do? With our status as greenhorns, even if we run to the Chinese army's base, who will believe what we say?" As he spoke, he irritably punched the table, which sent dust flying.
Tang Nan himself didn't realize that his thoughts had been led astray by the old man. He was now more focused on how to relay the information the old man had obtained back to him. This line of thinking was certainly not wrong.
Tang Bei leaned against the door frame, moonlight shining through the cracks in the glass onto his tense profile.
He frowned, crossed his arms, and pondered for a long time before speaking: "No matter what, we can't just stand by and watch the old man and his compatriots suffer. Even if the higher-ups in the Chinese army don't recognize us, we have to find a way to do something."
Moonlight streamed through the cracked, mottled glass, casting dappled silver spots on the dusty tabletop. The three Tang brothers sat around the table, the silence occasionally broken by the distant footsteps of American patrols and the clanging of metal.
Tang Bei repeatedly stroked the dagger with his fingertips, carving the three-dimensional outline of the base on the table. Suddenly, he looked up and said, "Aren't we out of sync? Passing on messages is important, but saving lives is the top priority right now."
Tang Nan and Tang Dong immediately snapped out of their daze; they hadn't expected the old man's words to have such a profound impact on them. Seeing that the two agreed with his idea, Tang Bei continued, "The old man's identity must be extraordinary. Therefore, we should now think about the most feasible rescue plan."
Remember, we can't rely solely on brute force; we must turn the US military's defense system into our ally.
