Chapter 253 Tang Shengkai's Collapse

253

Tang Yue let Commander Huang pull her along, silently casting a cleansing spell on herself. That was the only way; she'd actually gotten used to brushing her teeth and washing her face by now. If she didn't do it for a day, she felt uneasy.

Tang Yue hasn't been training as hard lately. She feels that with her current abilities, almost no one can challenge her anymore. She's also very satisfied; she's accomplished what she couldn't in her past life. She's incredibly happy.

When Commander Huang and Tang Yue arrived at the military compound, many trucks were already ready. Tang Yue withdrew the formation from a distance. Commander Huang stood at the gate without moving.

"Little girl, are you sure the things are already inside the house?"

Tang Yue nodded sincerely. Commander Huang's lips curled up, but he remained standing still.

Before long, many military vehicles drove into the family compound, and some officers dressed in formal attire also came from their homes.

Tang Yue understood; there needed to be multiple witnesses. Tang Yue remained standing beside Commander Huang, and only after Commander Huang confirmed that everyone had arrived did Tang Yue pull a thick notebook out of her clothes.

Commander Huang's lips twitched as he looked at the notebook the little girl had pulled out from somewhere. Did this child carry this notebook with her even when she slept?

"Reporting to the commander, this is the registration and storage list for all the treasures intercepted on the South Island. Please check it, commander."

Tang Yue didn't tell Commander Kang when she left, but there was this notebook at the warehouse entrance. She saw that it contained a record of all the treasures, so she just took it.

Presumably, Commander Kang must have a backup. Once both sides verify it, she'll be fine.

Commander Huang solemnly took the notebook, opened the first page, and knew what it was. He solemnly saluted Tang Yue, and then, together with the other leaders present, unlocked the door and entered the house.

Security was much tighter this time than before, and Tang Yue kept a close eye on her surroundings. Only when she saw nothing amiss did she relax.

This operation was impromptu; Commander Huang probably didn't inform anyone beforehand. Furthermore, all troops had been thoroughly screened from top to bottom, and all spies had been eliminated. Therefore, the handover was very quick.

Tang Yue stood bored in the courtyard waiting, while Chang Yin, as the representative of the South Island, had already gone in to hand over the duties. Sun Jinan and the others arrived later. He nudged Tang Yue lightly, "Boss, you're amazing! You did something so big without making a sound. First-class merit, no, it should be special-class merit, you're definitely in for it."

Tang Yue looked up at him. Special Merit? Actually, she had never considered the issue of merit before.

"What's wrong, boss? Are you shocked? Let me tell you, it's a special merit award, a promotion is a sure thing."

Tang Yue smiled but didn't speak. She didn't really care about being an official; she preferred a free and easy life. As long as her family was safe, she had no desire to get involved in worldly conflicts.

Why not find a place rich in spiritual energy, cultivate when you have free time, and travel to famous mountains and rivers when you're bored?

Seeing that Tang Yue didn't seem interested, Sun Jinan shook his head. "Sigh, the child is still too young. If she were their age, she would have been overjoyed."

Leaving aside how the leaders inside must have felt upon seeing so many precious Chinese treasures, Tang Yue discovered a very serious problem. She seemed to have forgotten to tell her father about her trip to Japan.

The entire handover took three days.

The inventoried treasures were secretly sent to various locations. The entire process proceeded without incident. Even the leaders felt it went too smoothly. They also secretly remarked how comfortable it was to be free of enemy spies.

When everyone returned to the guesthouse, it was time for them to leave.

"What? I disagree."

Tang Yue hadn't expected Tang Shengkai to react so strongly. She sat on the bed quietly watching Tang Shengkai vent his anger, but he only yelled that one sentence before his face was filled with remorse.

Finally, he squatted down helplessly, repeatedly rubbing his hair. With his head down, Tang Yue couldn't see Tang Shengkai's expression. But at this moment, she seemed to be able to empathize with her father.

Tang Yue got down and squatted down next to Tang Shengkai. "Dad, I'm really amazing. Have you forgotten? I went there by myself because I didn't want to trouble others. You know they would hold me back."

Tang Shengkai... wanted to say that his father would go with him, but he was completely choked back.

"Dad, do you still want your family to live in fear? In order to protect the family, Third Brother almost had an accident when he broke through to the first level of Qi Refining, and Mom almost lost her life when she gave birth to Xixi."

Even the vegetables we grow have been poisoned. Dad, I don't want to live like this. I hate those spies; why do they have the right to run rampant on our Chinese soil?

They killed so many of our Chinese people, and we haven't even sought revenge yet, but they've already done it all because of their own selfish desires...

Dad, I've decided I can't take it anymore. So, I have to go this time. I'll make them pay a hundredfold, a thousandfold. I want our family to be safe and sound.

Tang Shengkai choked up a little; he had felt the same way. Sometimes he truly regretted helping those hunters on Seven Star Mountain.

If it weren't for his sense of national duty back then, how could his family have suffered so much? But Tang Shengkai had asked himself countless times, if, if he encountered the same thing as Qixing Mountain again, what would he do?

The answer was still the same! Tang Shengkai was conflicted, deeply conflicted. But no matter what, his choice would not change. However, his steadfast commitment ultimately placed all the burdens on his young daughter, which was what Tang Shengkai felt most guilty about.
