Chapter 500 Lin Cuicui Goes to the Army

500

Lin Cuicui... Your branch is quite far away! Putting aside Third Brother's matter, just take those Japanese spies for example, Lin Cuicui really doesn't know when they will give up.

But the old man's lifelong happiness couldn't be delayed. Lin Cuicui knew that the old man was doing this for them, so they couldn't selfishly let him wait around.

After much deliberation, Lin Cuicui decided to go find Commander Kang. They stayed in the family compound, especially hers, and rarely went out unless necessary, just so as not to cause trouble for the troops.

But now the old man's matter is stuck here. Lin Cuicui gritted her teeth and thought, no, she has to get this matter settled for the old man.

After breakfast, Lin Cuicui pushed Xixi towards Old Li, saying, "Dad, I have something to do. You can look after the child for a while. Dad, I'll fix the gate in a bit. Please don't go out if you don't need to."

These past few days, Lin Cuicui had broken through to the first level of Qi Refining, and her mind had been preoccupied with how to protect her family. She actually came up with a plan. Back in Daobei Village, she had asked Yueyue to watch the house, and Yueyue had used a few small stones to create a protective array.

She still remembered the first time she carried Yueyue home and couldn't get into the yard, and now she wanted to try again. Before Old Li could agree, Lin Cuicui had already rushed out of the yard. She picked up several stones in a corner of the yard, then tried to recall where Yueyue had thrown them.

After several attempts, the location was still wrong, and the yard remained unchanged after all the stones were thrown. Old Li, holding Xixi's hand, stood in the yard and saw Lin Cuicui playing with pebbles outside, wondering why.

"Oh dear, my dear grandson Xixi, what do you think your mother is doing? She's practically circling our yard."

Xixi has just learned to speak and can't say many words. But she still happily echoes Old Li, "Stone, stone, real."

Old Li didn't understand what Xixi meant, but gently rubbed Xixi's head and said, "Oh, Grandpa's good grandson is so smart. What a good child."

Lin Cuicui tried several more times, her face growing increasingly frustrated. How come something so simple for her daughter was so difficult for her?

Finally, Lin Cuicui gave up and called out to the yard, "Dad, I've closed the gate. You can play with Xixi at home if you're okay."

After finishing her sentence, she hurried away, not daring to waste a single moment. When she encountered acquaintances on the road, Lin Cuicui would merely nod or exchange greetings, showing no intention of stopping for a chat.

The people in the residential compound didn't know why the Tang family rarely went out. Only the old man occasionally came out, and Cui Cui practically stayed at home.

Even going from the family compound to the military base required registration, and Lin Cuicui filled out the form in a notebook as instructed by the soldiers. Hearing that she was looking for Commander Kang, the soldiers directly called Commander Kang's bodyguard.

Commander Kang was on the phone, his voice booming and quite angry, "No, absolutely not, our South Island is too small, we can't accommodate you all..." You big shots.

However, at this critical juncture, he cannot say these words; to do so would give others leverage against him.

The guard didn't hear what was said on the phone afterward, but in any case, Commander Kang's face remained grim. He hung up the phone with remarkable speed.

"Report, Commander, Comrade Lin Cuicui wishes to see you!"

Commander Kang thought for a moment, but still couldn't remember who Lin Cuicui was. "Who?"

The guard had anticipated this, and he coughed lightly, "Tang Yue, the mother of Company Commander Tang."

Commander Kang suddenly realized, "Oh, let her in." Commander Kang was still thinking, "Those spies shouldn't have done anything lately, right? What does Comrade Lin want with me?"

Lin Cuicui had met Commander Kang before and knew that he was the head of the entire unit, but she wasn't too afraid. After all, following her daughter, she had developed a calm and composed mind.

After entering, Lin Cuicui first nodded to Commander Kang. "Greetings, Commander. I'm sorry to bother you."

Commander Kang stood up. "Comrade Lin, come and sit down." A guard brought over a glass of water.

Lin Cuicui sat on a chair to one side, while Commander Kang sat on the other side of the coffee table. Without exchanging pleasantries, Lin Cuicui said, "Commander, I wanted to ask, is there any news about my family, Comrade Tang Shengkai?"

When Commander Kang heard Lin Cuicui's question, he glanced at her subtly. There was no sorrow on Lin Cuicui's face when she asked the question, which clearly showed that she still did not believe that Tang Shengkai had sacrificed himself.

Commander Kang found this feeling quite peculiar. Was this the bond between family members? However, he had indeed received definite news, thanks to Tang Yue's phone call early that morning.

Commander Kang looked at Lin Cuicui and asked, "Comrade Lin, have you heard something?"

Lin Cuicui's eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head. "No," Commander Kang said without keeping her in suspense, "Yes, Battalion Commander Chang and Comrade Tang Shengkai did not sacrifice themselves. However, they are currently carrying out a secret mission, so..."

Lin Cuicui stood up abruptly. Believing it to herself was one thing, but hearing confirmation was quite another. Even though she considered herself strong enough, the feeling she had when she heard with her own ears that her third brother was not dead was completely different.

Unable to hold back her tears, Lin Cuicui asked again, her voice trembling, "Commander Kang, is what you said true?"

Commander Kang nodded affirmatively. Lin Cuicui plopped down in a chair, covered her face with her hands, and trembled uncontrollably. Commander Kang and the guards didn't know how to comfort her.

However, Lin Cuicui didn't let herself be sad for too long, which was a good thing. She controlled her emotions, then wiped her face clean with her sleeve. She smiled at Commander Kang.

"I'm sorry to have made a fool of myself in front of the commander." Although his voice still had a strong nasal tone, his whole demeanor had changed.
