Chapter 488 Armory Anomaly

488

Tang Yue stood in the center of the temporary camp, gazing at the winding road in the distance, her brows furrowed. According to the original plan, leading the young men of Bianyue Kingdom along the main road to the US Army's Base No. 5 would take at least a day and a half, but the situation with Chang Yin was unknown, and every minute and every second was crucial.

Tang Yue was considering whether to set off earlier than planned.

"Company Commander Tang," Zhang Ming suddenly leaned closer, a confident smile still playing on his lips, "Are you trying to save everyone's travel time? I have an idea. Company Commander, you can have them prepare some more logs, seven or eight meters long."

If we all hike together along the mountain path, we can build a wooden bridge at the cliff edge. There will be people holding onto both sides, so it's very safe and we won't fall. That way, we can save half the distance!

Tang Yue raised an eyebrow. This Zhang Ming was indeed quite clever. She nodded decisively: "Let's do it this way!"

She immediately summoned the county magistrates and issued orders. The group acted swiftly and quickly gathered enough timber. The able-bodied men carried the logs and set off energetically up the mountain path. Their plan was to first build the wooden bridge over there, thus saving time when they set off later.

However, every moment Tang Yue stayed at the camp, she had a strange feeling, a sense of unease, as if something big was about to happen. It didn't seem like a warning of danger. Tang Yue couldn't really describe what this feeling was.

As night deepened, she could no longer contain herself and decided to first go and scout out the area near the U.S. Army's Base No. 5.

She didn't try to avoid the people; she set off on Zhang Ming's motorcycle. She didn't notice the dense crowd following behind her.

When the people of Bianyue learned that the goddess had set off ahead to scout out the situation for them, they spontaneously took up arms, carried supplies, and followed her in droves. In their hearts, the goddess was their backbone, their hope to lead them to victory over the American army, and no matter how dangerous the road ahead, they were willing to follow her.

Besides, the US military's Base 5 is so dangerous, how could they let the goddess go there alone? Wouldn't they be too useless as her servants?

The mountain path was rugged and difficult to traverse at night. Zhang Ming's eyesight was not as good as Tang Yue's, and following Tang Yue's directions, the two stumbled and struggled forward.

After walking a distance, Tang Yue seemed to sense something. She turned around and was stunned by the scene behind her—the mountains and fields were filled with people holding torches, the torches forming a continuous line, like a burning dragon winding its way through the darkness.

They were still quite a distance from Tang Yue, but the firelight gradually illuminated their path. Tang Yue had no choice but to have Zhang Ming stop and wait for the county magistrates leading the way to arrive.

Tang Yue said helplessly, "Didn't we agree on a time? Why are you..."

"Goddess, we will go with you!" A firm shout rang out from the crowd. Before the county magistrates could speak, the young men behind them had already spoken.

"Without you, we would not have survived long ago. Now, we will fight alongside you!"

Tang Yue's eyes welled up with tears; she truly felt their sincerity. Moreover, she had recently been feeling some changes in her body. The space around her seemed to be constantly fluctuating. However, she had been too busy to pay much attention to these things.

But as those young men spoke, she felt her strength slowly increasing.

Suppressing the strange feeling in her body, Tang Yue said in a deep voice, "Alright! But follow my instructions in all actions, and absolutely do not act rashly!"

Everyone responded in unison. And so, Tang Yue led her large and imposing group toward Base 5.

There were too many people. Zhang Ming rode his motorcycle across the precipice using the makeshift wooden bridge, while Tang Yue decided to go ahead and scout the situation. The bridge was too narrow, and it would take some time for everyone to cross.

Therefore, only a few thousand civilians arrived when the fuel depot at U.S. Army Base No. 5 exploded. They felt the ground shake. Lu Ye and his group of Chinese soldiers were at the forefront. Upon hearing the explosion at Base No. 5, Lu Ye and the other Chinese soldiers' expressions changed.

They didn't have time to wait for all the people of Bianyue to cross the bridge, so they drove the cars that had already arrived to bring people over to provide support.

The car sound that Tang Yue and Zhang Ming heard meant that Lu Ye and his group were coming.

Lu Ye jumped out of the car, his gaze immediately locking onto Tang Yue. His eyes swept over Tang Yue from head to toe, and when he saw that Tang Yue was safe and sound, his tense nerves did not relax in the slightest.

In the distance, the flames from Base 5 illuminated half the sky, and the sounds of explosions continued intermittently. The air was thick with the acrid smell of gunpowder and burning. Waves of heat also swept over us.

"Sister Yue, what's the situation inside?" He strode forward, his voice filled with barely concealed anxiety. He didn't know when it started, but Tang Yue had acquired the nickname "Sister Yue."

Tang Yue had heard many people call her that privately when she was projecting her consciousness outwards. This was the first time Tang Yue had heard people call her "Sister Yue" openly. This title, hmm, was quite interesting.

However, now is not the time to think about that. Tang Yue said expressionlessly, "It should be the fuel depot inside Base 5 that exploded. I don't know the specifics."

Lu Ye's expression was very serious. "Are any of our people inside?"

Tang Yue's expression remained unchanged. After thinking for a moment, since they would meet again soon anyway, he said, "Commander Chang and his men infiltrated the base before, but their current situation is unknown."

However, with the fuel depot at Base 5 now in chaos due to the explosion, it's the perfect time for us to attack.

She paused, ignoring Lu Ye's shocked face, and looked at the more than 700 people from the border region and Chinese soldiers gathered behind him, her eyes resolute, "We must seize this opportunity."

Without much small talk, Tang Yue immediately began making arrangements. Her sharp gaze swept over everyone: "The US army is in disarray right now; we need to catch them off guard."
