Tang Yue was sitting on the grass, gnawing on a goat leg. Around her were several large animals eating meat and praising how delicious it was.
A faint sound of swallowing saliva came from the bushes not far away. Everyone heard it, but no one moved.
Xiao Mohe hid in the bushes not far away, watching the dozen or so people on the rocky beach in front of him devouring meat. He couldn't help but swallow hard. How long had it been since he'd eaten meat? He couldn't even remember.
The arrival of these people completely disrupted his plans and shattered his confidence in staying in these deep mountains for decades.
They didn't say much to him, and when they saw that he didn't want to talk to them, they just turned around and left.
Looking at that little girl gnawing on a leg of lamb, she probably wasn't a child they kidnapped. If she were kidnapped, why would they feed her such good food?
As he and his younger siblings dug the trap, he kept wondering why these people were there, and whether they were really there to chase them.
It seemed impossible no matter how you looked at it, since they hadn't entered the Qinling Mountains from the closest point. Instead, they had taken a long detour and entered the mountains when no one was around. There was no way those people could have found them.
However, he was still worried. He had spent a lot of time finding this cave. It was very large and had many twists and turns. Even if wild animals came, the three of them could hide in the innermost part.
Therefore, these people must not be disturbed. He still needs to raise his younger siblings, and then go back to take revenge; he is determined to get revenge.
Hatred made Xiao Mohe forget to hide himself; his heavy breathing was impossible for Tang Yue and the others to ignore. They exchanged glances, but no one spoke.
Clearly, the child had come to scout ahead, to see if they posed any threat. They were also on guard, wondering why there were three children in the deep mountains.
This place is really not suitable for a few children to live in, but they actually survived, which is incredible.
The group slowed down their eating for a moment, but fortunately, Xiao Mohe was only distracted for a short while. After that, he realized that these people didn't seem to be coming to find them, so he quietly turned around and left.
A short while later, Bu Mancang and Chen Erniu returned.
"Did that child go back?"
"Hmm, hey, this kid's pretty alert. He wandered around the cave for ages, and he almost spotted where we were hiding." Chen Erniu grabbed a big bite of meat and stuffed it into his mouth as he spoke.
Bu Mancang sat by the fire. "They seemed to have been forced into the mountains by someone. Those children were filled with hatred."
Xu Hongchang nodded. "Yes, I can see that. But can they really stay safely in these deep mountains?"
Chen Erniu swallowed a mouthful of meat. "That's quite possible. We've scouted this area and there aren't any large wild beasts. I estimate they haven't been in the mountains for long. While they were digging traps, I secretly went into the cave and checked; they hadn't stocked up on anything yet."
However, the bigger one looks quite strong.
"Battalion Commander Chang, what do you think?"
Chang Yin stopped eating meat. "We have to get them out of here."
Xu Hongchang nodded. He felt that if he didn't get them out of there, it would haunt him for the rest of his life. These were three lives. He couldn't just stand by and do nothing. Besides, they were children.
“But they seem very difficult to approach,” Xu Hongchang sighed.
Chen Erniu asked, "How about we stay here for a couple more days and try to get on their good side?"
He chuckled after saying that, as he was just thinking about how to sense that thing called spiritual energy.
They've started tailing him again, leaving him no time to truly appreciate the situation.
Chang Yin shook his head. "If we leave tomorrow, they might be able to lower their guard a bit."
Everyone nodded, understanding Chang Yin's meaning. Tang Yue smiled but remained silent. Tomorrow? They'll come to us of their own accord. If one move isn't enough, then... well, a few more.
Anyway, she figured out that those children weren't bad people. Now that she'd run into them, and she was wearing this outfit, she naturally had to take care of what needed to be done.
Sun Jinan and Wang Ming took turns keeping an eye on the children, mainly to protect their safety.
Besides cultivating, Tang Yue was also keeping an eye on the changes in the trap. When she saw that the two silly rabbits had actually fallen into the trap, a slight smile appeared on Tang Yue's lips. Then she closed her eyes and began to attempt to break through to the Golden Core stage.
The next morning, before dawn, Xiao Mohe got up. He first cautiously observed the surroundings at the cave entrance. After finding nothing unusual and seeing no wild animals, he then forcefully moved the large rock blocking the cave entrance.
There was a noise behind them. Seeing it was Xiao Moyu, the two of them didn't speak and moved the stone together. Xiao Moyan sat up on the haystack, rubbed her eyes, and looked at the cave entrance. "Big brother, second brother, it's dawn."
The two brothers turned around together. "Yeah, it's just getting light. Sister, sleep a little longer."
Xiao Moyan shook her head, and her stomach rumbled loudly. The two brothers heard their sister's stomach growl, and their own stomachs started growling too.
For a moment, Xiao Mohe didn't know what he was thinking. How could he have thought of those people?
Xiao Moyan was a little embarrassed. She rolled her big eyes and said, "I'm not going to sleep anymore, big brother. Let's go check out the traps. Maybe we can get some meat today."
After saying that, she regretted it a little. She shouldn't have put more pressure on her older brothers. But after they got up, she immediately felt very cold. That night, she slept between her older brothers.
