Chapter 3: Mom's Powerful Knife Wielding

Lin Cuicui was stunned for a moment. What did her little fourth sister mean by this? But she still subconsciously put her on the kang.

Tang Yue naturally took Tang Shengkai's hand and touched his wrist. The people in the room looked at her incredulously. Tang Yue blinked her big eyes and looked innocent. "I've seen Master Xu do this often. I'll try it."

Seeing her little girl's soft and adorable appearance, and remembering what the child had just gone through, she forced a smile. She knew the child was trying to comfort her.

For some reason, seeing their younger sister speak so solemnly for the first time, Tang Bei and the others felt a little relieved.

Tang Yue stretched out her thin, chicken-claw-like hand and touched Tang Shengkai's pulse. It was weak and rootless, and the pulse rate was irregular. It was like scattered willow catkins, accompanied by a large, hollow pulse, like pressing on a scallion stalk.

According to the original owner's memories, Tang Shengkai went hunting in the mountains and was stabbed in the thigh by something, leaving a large hole. Tang Shengkai was afraid of spending money and refused to see a doctor, causing his condition to worsen.

I could barely open my eyes and see people this morning, but after all this trouble, I just couldn't hold on any longer.

Tang Yue pulled back Tang Shengkai's blanket and rolled up his trouser legs to his knees, releasing a pungent smell into the room.

Tang Shengkai's entire knee was almost entirely devoid of healthy flesh, and a small, bowl-sized hole on the inside of his knee was oozing pus.

Lin Cuicui pulled Tang Yue away, saying, "Yueyue, don't look."

This girl is timid; even a slight noise or something she doesn't like will frighten her. Lin Cuicui regretted not pulling her away sooner. She just hadn't expected her little girl to go see her father's leg injury; she had only been distracted for a moment.

After looking at it, Tang Yue knew where the problem lay. She half-clenched her fist, trying to gather some spiritual energy in her palm, but alas, nothing came out.

Tang Yue closed her eyes and sensed the energy. The spiritual energy here was too thin, as if the power in her body had disappeared since she came here.

She wasn't sure if this body had any spiritual roots, but based on her experience, she could cultivate anywhere.

"Mom, Dad won't die. If we take good care of him, he will definitely live well."

Lin Cuicui's eyes welled up with tears again as she listened to Tang Yue's words. Tang Bei, Tang Nan, and Tang Dong huddled around their sister, asking, "Is what you're saying true, sister? We all believe you. Dad won't die."

"Yes, Dad won't die."

"Yes, take good care of Dad."

"Yes, definitely." Tang Yue looked at the people surrounding her. Her current body was almost four years old, and she had been weak since birth. This family had never given up on the original owner. So now that she was here, she wouldn't give up on anyone in this family either.

In the past, Tang Yue could have recovered from Tang Shengkai's injury by simply moving her fingers. But now, if she wanted to heal Tang Shengkai, she needed to quickly guide Qi into her body.

"Gurgle, gurgle."

Tang Yue's stomach rumbled twice. Lin Cuicui looked up at the sky. It was already late afternoon. Tang Shengjun had been making a fuss about burying people since early morning, and the family hadn't eaten a single bite of food yet.

"Daughter, you stay here with your dad, Mom will go cook for you."

"Okay, Mom."

Tang Dong tugged at Tang Nan's sleeve, "Big brother, you stay home and help Mom cook. Second brother and I will go find Master Xu to take a look at Dad. My sister says that if Dad can get better, he definitely can."

"Okay, you guys go ahead." Tang Bei also hoped that Second Master Xu would come and take another look at his father.

Lin Cuicui watched her two sons run out from the stove, unable to bring herself to say anything to stop them. Well, at least there's hope for the children; if only her husband could really survive.

After wiping away her tears with her sleeve, Lin Cuicui began washing the pots and cooking.

The family already had little savings because they were busy taking care of Tang Yue. Then, with Tang Shengkai's accident, they sold everything they could and borrowed all they could. But they still didn't have enough money to take their husband to a major hospital in the county or provincial capital for treatment.

There's not much food left. I made two small pancakes for Tang Yue with millet flour.

They made a few flatbreads by sticking buckwheat flour mixed with some rice bran to the side of the pot. Unwilling to use rice or flour to make a thin porridge, they simply poured water into the pot, added a few cabbage leaves and two grains of coarse salt—that was their meal for the day.

Tang Yue sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) with her eyes closed in meditation. They were at the foot of the mountain, where a faint spiritual energy was scattered. Tang Yue circulated her mantra, trying to draw the energy into her body.

However, her original body contained too much filth and impurities, and her meridians were all blocked. After meditating for an hour, she could only gather a small amount of spiritual energy, about the size of a mung bean, on her fingertips.

Tang Yue pressed this bit of spiritual energy into Tang Shengkai's brow, and Tang Shengkai's breathing seemed to improve slightly.

Tang Yue sighed. "Take it slow. As long as she's here, she'll make sure Tang Shengkai doesn't die."

"Fire! Fire! Help!"

"Fire!"
