Lu Zhanheng became anxious upon hearing this, as it involved a major incident of leaked state secrets. At this moment, he no longer cared about his current status.
Lu Zhanheng took Tang Yue's hand and turned to leave, but once he took a step, the little girl behind him didn't follow at all.
He turned back and looked at Tang Yue with a puzzled expression, but Tang Yue remained standing motionless. Lu Zhanheng was very anxious, but he already had some idea that this little girl might not be as harmless as she seemed on the surface.
He forced down his sense of urgency and explained, "Little girl, this matter is really important. That telegraph machine can transmit our country's secrets abroad. If that happens, our country will suffer great losses or casualties."
Little girl, this is no small matter. Let's go and stop it right away.
"Can you get out of this carriage?"
Tang Yue looked up with her innocent big eyes, staring intently at Lu Zhanheng. Lu Zhanheng's expression froze for a moment, then seemed to have made a decision.
"Little girl, now is not the time to worry about those things. Don't worry about my problems. Let's get there quickly."
Tang Yue remained unmoved, but in her heart, she gained a new understanding of Lu Zhanheng. She couldn't understand why, despite how those people had treated them, as if they had been abandoned by them, they remained steadfast in their loyalty to the country.
Tang Yue was somewhat moved, but that was all. Everything she did had nothing to do with any particular country; she simply wanted her family to live safely and happily.
However, seeing Lu Zhanheng's persistence now touched her heart a little.
"Uncle, you should go back, if you trust me."
After speaking, he turned and walked towards the middle carriage of the train.
Lu Zhanheng stood there, his face conflicted. He was grateful to the little girl for thinking of him, but what did he care about his own life or death when it came to the interests of the country?
On the other hand, this little girl was able to discover such a secret, something even an adult might not have been able to do. Perhaps he really is not as good as this little girl.
However, he was an adult and had sat in that kind of seat before. Lu Zhanheng gritted his teeth and took a step forward to catch up with Tang Yue.
A nonchalant voice came from behind.
"Why are you here in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?"
A young man responsible for guarding them strolled over, looking around. After not seeing anyone suspicious, he looked at Lu Zhanheng with a suspicious expression.
"You're not meeting with someone, are you? You, Lu Zhanheng, so you really are a traitor who sells out his country for personal gain."
Lu Zhanheng's expression was cold. "Don't make false accusations. My legs were just hurting from sitting, so I wanted to stand up and stretch them. The toilet was over there and I felt uncomfortable, so I walked a few extra steps."
"Still trying to argue."
"Even when the Red Guards arrest people, they need evidence. There's no one here, and I'm being wrongly accused just for sticking out my leg?"
Lu Zhanheng was anxious, but he knew he couldn't leave now. These people didn't distinguish right from wrong at all, especially since they had sat opposite Tang Yue and the others in the car last time. Who knew what these people might imagine?
They're already in this situation, so it doesn't matter what happens next, but they can't drag the little girl's family down with them.
The young man had met Lu Zhanheng before, and was now feeling a little guilty because of Lu Zhanheng's cold retort. Especially since he was alone, he was really afraid that Lu Zhanheng might do something in a fit of anger.
He couldn't possibly handle Lu Zhanheng's skills. Dealing with him wouldn't be a quick matter, and it was unlikely that Lu Zhanheng had any accomplices.
"Hurry up and go back. If you don't want to sit anymore, you'll be standing from tomorrow onwards. You're so spoiled."
Lu Zhanheng didn't even dare to glance in the direction Tang Yue left, and immediately walked back to his seat.
The commotion was quite loud, and Lu Zhanheng and his group, who hadn't dared to sleep soundly, all woke up. Only one or two of the younger group were awake, and hearing that nothing serious had happened, they were too lazy to get up.
Others were even more indifferent, keeping to themselves as if it were none of their business.
When Tang Yue left, she discovered that the person in the last restroom had already noticed the machine malfunction and was preparing to open the black box to check the problem.
She didn't waste any more time. She had already found the train police in her mind. She was too young and anything she did would easily arouse suspicion. It was safest to just go to the police.
When she reached a small room in the middle of the eighth carriage, she gently knocked on the door, and the two policemen who were resting with their eyes closed immediately opened their eyes.
A young policeman was leaning against the door. He reached out and opened the door, seeing a little girl standing outside. He looked around behind her but didn't see any adults. He then turned to face Tang Yue.
"Little girl, can't you find your seat? Who did you get on the train with?"
The older police officer behind him shared the same thought as the younger officer, so he didn't show any concern on his face. It seemed that such things must happen frequently on trains.
Tang Yue squeezed her small body into the cramped rest room where the two of them were.
The young police officer was somewhat surprised; the child wasn't shy at all.
Tang Yue felt that the older police officer should be more experienced. She squeezed in front of him and asked, "Uncle Policeman, what's that black box that makes a beeping sound when you press a small handle on it?"
Both police officers were very alert and sensed something unusual about Tang Yue's words. However, they didn't show it on their faces.
"Little girl, what's your name? Where did you hear it from?"
Tang Yue looked completely innocent. "My name is Tang Yue. That voice came from the toilet at the very back of the last carriage."
