Chapter 425 Confiscating Property

425

Director Zhao sat at his desk, his face as gloomy as the sky before a storm, his expression unpredictable. The words and actions of that mysterious "composed man" just moments before haunted his mind like a ghost, disturbing his peace of mind.

This person exudes an indescribable aura, and one can tell at a glance that he is highly skilled. Moreover, he acts boldly and directly, making no attempt to conceal his intentions.

Director Zhao knew that if the other party secretly sabotaged him, he might be able to find a way to deal with it, or even sabotage it, given the Red Army's influence in Kyoto.

But now that they've made their demands so openly and forcefully, he really doesn't dare to act rashly. After weighing the pros and cons, he gritted his teeth and thought to himself, "It's not a matter of life and death anyway, I'll just go and deal with it."

He hoped those three families didn't have any important backgrounds. When he clearly saw the three locations Tang Yue had left behind and the names on the paper, Director Zhao smiled.

So this is the family. He vaguely remembered them. Ke Dazhi was quite a big shot, but he hadn't expected his three sons to be so cowardly when he was arrested. Arresting someone like that didn't bother him much.

The next morning, just as the sky was beginning to lighten, Director Zhao personally led a group of Red Guards, like a surging black tide, toward the home of Liu Ting's three sons. Their first stop was Ke Qiang's country.

Ke Qiangguo and his family were still fast asleep, completely unaware of the impending storm.

Suddenly, a rapid and violent knocking sound, like a thunderclap from a clear sky, ruthlessly shattered the tranquility of the morning. Ke Qiangguo, still half-asleep, sat up in bed, muttering, "Who could it be so early in the morning?"

His wife, Wei Aihua, was also awakened from her sleep by the knocking. Her face was full of displeasure as she said impatiently, "Ignore it. Maybe it's a wrong door. Go back to sleep."

However, the knocking did not stop; instead, it became more intense, accompanied by loud shouts from outside: "Open the door! The Red Army is searching!"

Ke Qiangguo and Wei Aihua's eyes widened instantly. They looked at each other in horror, as if struck by lightning, their blood freezing in that instant.

They hurriedly began to dress, their movements as flustered as startled rabbits, buttoning several buttons incorrectly. The scene of the old man's house being searched was still vivid in their minds; hadn't the matter already been resolved?

Why are these people coming to their house again? Wei Aihua said while putting on her clothes, "Could it be that your deadbeat father did something we don't know about? Ke Qiangguo, let me tell you, if our family is implicated by your old man again, I'm divorcing you."

Ke Qiangguo hurriedly dressed without saying a word. He was also panicking. What good person would want to be associated with those Red Army members?

However, they dared not refuse to open the door. When Wei Aihua rushed to open the door, her hands trembled violently with nervousness, and she almost couldn't even open it.

As soon as the door opened, a group of Red Army soldiers rushed in like hungry wolves pouncing on their prey, instantly entering the courtyard and house and starting to ransack and smash things. A suffocating atmosphere of tension filled the air.

Director Zhao walked in with his hands behind his back, his expression as serious as ice, his gaze sweeping over every corner of the room with the coldness of a hawk, not missing a single detail.

"What are you doing? What right do you have to break into my house?" Wei Aihua was nervous and scared at first, but seeing those soldiers ransacking and smashing her things without any explanation, how could she possibly tolerate it?

She screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice as sharp as an alarm piercing the night sky, with a barely concealed tremor.

Director Zhao snorted coldly, his voice seemingly coming from the depths of hell, full of intimidation, and said, "Someone reported that you are hiding counter-revolutionary items and colluding with foreign forces. We are here to search based on the report."

Upon hearing this, Ke Qiangguo and Wei Aihua were struck as if by a heavy hammer. Their faces turned ashen, and their bodies trembled uncontrollably, like fallen leaves shivering in the cold wind.

Ke Qiangguo looked at Director Zhao in disbelief. "No, this is impossible. We are all good people, we would never do such a thing. Are you sure you haven't made a mistake? Did you search the wrong person?"

Director Zhao didn't even glance at Ke Qiangguo. Although Ke Qiangguo wasn't a good person, he looked down on someone who didn't even acknowledge his own parents.

With a wave of his hand, the Red Guards, upon receiving the order, immediately began searching the house even more frantically. Like robbers, they roughly opened all the cabinets and boxes, scattering clothes and miscellaneous items all over the floor like garbage.

Wei Aihua finally couldn't hold back anymore, her eyes reddening with heartache. She rushed forward without thinking, trying to stop the Red Army soldiers' atrocities, but was violently shoved away by one of them. She lost her balance and almost fell heavily to the ground.

"You can't do this! This is a frame-up!" she cried out hoarsely, her voice filled with anger and despair, but the Red Guards ignored her and continued to do as they pleased.

Ke Qiangguo mustered his courage and stood up, wanting to demand an explanation for himself and his family. He had just opened his mouth to argue when he caught sight of the dark muzzles of the guns held by the Red Army soldiers pointing directly at him. The icy chill instantly shot from the soles of his feet to the top of his head, scaring him so much that he immediately shut his mouth. It was as if something was choking him, and he could no longer make a sound.

Ke Yuxue had already heard the noise outside, and she dared not sleep any longer. Her usual composure and calmness were completely gone, and she timidly walked out of her room.
