Tang Yue smiled. From the moment the gunshots rang out, she knew someone would come up. With her current strength, she had no way to control the sound within the formation, so the gunshots would definitely reach the village below the mountain.
She knew her parents would worry, so she moved quickly, but she had set up eight formations. Once inside, the spies hid behind rocks. Finding these people didn't take much effort, but once inside the formations, the increased space made killing them take some time.
Tang Yue could tell that Grandpa Li and Grandpa Qian were running at the front, and far away from them, she could hear her mother helping her father climb the hill. She was relieved not to hear her three older brothers come out.
In such a short time, Tang Yue had really expended a lot of energy. There was no way around it; the original owner's body was already quite weak, and she had only used it for a few days. She was very satisfied with the results she had achieved today.
She slowly moved one of the stones that had been used to set up the formation, and the body of the spy inside was immediately revealed on the rocky beach.
Tang Yue originally wanted to touch the corpse herself, but she was really too tired; her hands and feet ached terribly. Her previous physical condition was still too weak; her newly repaired body didn't have the same flexibility.
Using the last bit of strength she had left, she reached out and moved the last stone, then collapsed helplessly onto the rocky beach. A short while later, Qian Dazhi and Old Li, panting heavily, climbed onto the other side of the rocky beach, carrying their hunting rifles.
Seeing the little girl lying unharmed on the ground smiling at them, the two of them plopped down on the ground, panting heavily.
A little over an hour ago, Lin Cuicui hadn't intended to sleep, but somehow she drifted off. When she opened her eyes, she was startled to find her little girl not on the kang (heated brick bed), and quickly shook Tang Shengkai awake.
Tang Shengkai was completely bewildered. He was still quite weak and had originally planned not to sleep all night, but unexpectedly, he fell asleep at some point.
"Honey, Yueyue, Yueyue is missing."
The noise woke up Qian Dazhi and Old Li in the west room, and the two quickly got up and went to the door of the east room.
"Third brother, what's wrong?"
Tang Shengkai hurriedly said, "Uncle Qian, Uncle Li, come inside quickly, Yueyue is missing."
The two were startled by the noise and quickly lifted the curtain to enter the room. Sure enough, they saw only Lin Cuicui and Tang Shengkai on the kang (a heated brick bed).
Lin Cuicui was so anxious that she didn't know what to do. She got off the kang (a heated brick bed) and paced back and forth on the ground.
Old Li's face darkened. He thought for a moment, "Logically speaking, neither Old Qian nor I sleep soundly. If someone came, they would definitely hear us..."
Old Li didn't say anything more. He wasn't sleeping soundly, but if little Yueyue walked out of the room by herself, he should have heard her. So when exactly did this person leave?
Tang Shengkai seemed to realize something, and a look of horror flashed across his face. "Oh no, it must be spies."
After saying that, he dragged his injured leg and was about to get off the kang (a heated brick bed), but Old Li stopped him with his hand. "Don't think nonsense. Old Qian and I will go outside the yard for a walk first. If there's anything, you can come out."
Tang Shengkai couldn't wait any longer; that was his beloved little daughter. While others might not know of Yueyue's abilities, his family did. But the child was still young. What if there were many spies? Yueyue wouldn't be able to fight them off, and then his daughter would be in danger.
"No, Uncle Li, I have to go out and look for her. Yue'er is still young, and we don't know where the spies are hiding. It's too dangerous for her. I'm worried about her."
Without waiting for Old Li and Qian Dazhi's reaction, he pulled two gleaming pistols from under the covers. Qian Dazhi and Old Li's eyes widened in disbelief; when did their third brother acquire such valuable items?
Tang Shengkai initially wanted to hand the gun to Old Li or Qian Dazhi, but after thinking about it, he realized that neither of them were good at shooting. Although his legs were not working well, he was still good at shooting with both hands.
"Uncle Li, Uncle Qian, my aim is better, so I'll use these two pistols myself for now."
Old Li and Qian Dazhi had no intention of fighting Tang Shengkai for the gun. They nodded, since Lao San was convinced that spies had come, the two of them could no longer stay in the house.
"Third brother, take good care of yourself."
After Old Li finished speaking, Qian Dazhi and Old Li left the yard together and checked from the east and west sides respectively.
Lin Cuicui was already quite frightened, but because she had been mentally prepared, despite her panic, she knew what to do.
She took the prepared kitchen knife from under her pillow and said, "Honey, you keep a close eye on the kids around here. I'm going out to check on them."
Tang Shengkai grabbed Lin Cuicui's sleeve. "Cuicui, come with me. I'm worried about you being alone."
Lin Cuicui's face was resolute. "Third Brother, I'm not afraid. I'm worried about where Yueyue is. I'll go out and look for her."
Tang Shengkai held Lin Cuicui's hand tightly, saying, "Cuicui, you have to trust our daughter. She dared to go out on her own, so she must have a plan. If you go alone and run into spies, wouldn't that just be a hindrance to her?"
Lin Cuicui was so anxious she was on the verge of tears, her voice trembling with sobs, "No, Third Brother, I'm worried, I'm so worried. What if something happens to Yueyue? What will I do?"
Tang Shengkai tightened his grip. "Cuicui, calm down. We're your parents. Think about how young Yueyue is. If she dares to do this, what don't we dare to do? If we see Japanese soldiers, we'll just kill them."
Lin Cuicui's tears fell in large drops as she looked at Tang Shengkai and nodded repeatedly.
"Yes, Third Brother, I know, I know."
"Come on, let's go out together."
Before Tang Shengkai could take a step, a series of gunshots suddenly rang out from the North Mountain Peak.
