Chapter 133 Housing Allocation in the Family Compound

133

Tang Yue was utterly exhausted. Her forehead was covered in sweat, and her face was as pale as paper. Yet, a light shone in her eyes.

"Little Yueyue, are you done with your work?"

"Yes, Uncle Sun, let's go find Commander Kang."

"Oh? Oh! Okay, let's go now."

As Sun Jinan walked, he would occasionally look back at her, seemingly wondering whether he should ask Tang Yue a question.

Tang Yue was too exhausted to talk to Sun Jinan; this was the most tired she had felt since arriving here. She couldn't remember how many days she had been working. These past few days had been a constant drain on her mental energy to repair the black box, and whenever her mental energy was low, she would sleep to replenish it.

However, she's never been able to replenish it completely, so she's used up quite a bit of it. But she wants to give it to Commander Kang as soon as possible. After all, you have to use your resources at the most opportune time, right?

However, she didn't have time to make further arrangements, since her family couldn't stay in the guesthouse every day.

"Comrade Tang Yue, you really did it!" Commander Kang's voice was filled with excitement.

"Yes, I fixed it." Tang Yue's voice carried a hint of fatigue, but more so a sense of accomplishment.

Commander Kang was extremely satisfied, and his regard for Tang Yue rose to a new level. However, now was not the time to talk about those things; he needed to verify them.

"Xiao Yueyue, go home and rest first. We can talk about other things after you've rested."

Commander Kang naturally noticed the little girl's pale face and her barely open eyes. He couldn't possibly exploit a child.

"go home?"

Tang Yue found the word very novel. Her family was staying in a guesthouse, but what did that have to do with home?

"Oh, you've been so busy lately, I haven't had a chance to tell you yet. The army has arranged for your family to stay in the family compound, and there are enough rooms for your whole family."

I'll have Sun Jinan take you home later.

Tang Yue...

It seems like this was the condition she was planning to ask Commander Kang for after the black box was repaired. How come she's already gotten her wish before she even said it?

Commander Kang chuckled inwardly as he noticed the girl's face had lost its usual air of confidence. Chang Yin was right; this girl's weakness was her family. Once her family was safe, she would be much easier to talk to.

At this moment, Commander Kang was eager to verify the black box. If the black box was really repaired, then he would do everything he could to get Tang Yue into the army.

The family compound is located in a corner of the military base, with a green mountain behind it. The compound is surrounded by lush trees, creating a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

The houses here aren't particularly tall, but they exude a simple warmth. Sunlight filters through the leaves, casting its glow on the red bricks and blue tiles, adding a touch of life to the courtyard.

Tang Yue followed behind Sun Jinan, her body exhausted but her steps steady, her heart filled with anticipation. She imagined the surprise her family would feel when they saw their new home, and a smile involuntarily crept onto her lips.

"Little Yueyue, this is your new house." Sun Jinan pointed to a courtyard in a row of houses, his voice filled with excitement.

Tang Yue's gaze fell on the house. It was no different from the other houses, yet it gave Tang Yue the feeling that this was her home. The exterior walls revealed red bricks, and light blue curtains hung in the windows, swaying gently in the breeze.

She pushed open the door, and a strong smell of earth wafted out. Looking up, she saw Old Li leading the three Tang brothers in the yard, mixing mud to make bricks. The three brothers heard the noise and looked towards the door.

"Grandpa, brothers, I'm back!" Tang Yue's voice was filled with joy as she looked around the yard, finding comfort in every corner.

Hearing the sound, Lin Cuicui came out from the inner room, her face filled with surprise and joy. "Yueyue, you're back. Are you tired? Come inside, Mom will make you some food."

Tang Yue took Lin Cuicui's hand. "Mom, I just ate, I'm not hungry yet. Are you getting used to living here?"

"Oh? That's good. We've been here for seven days now. Most people here are nice."

Tang Yue sensed something was off. "Most people?"

Tang Nan leaned closer and said, "Sister, some of the aunties have such nasty mouths. They keep saying that Dad, a mere soldier, doesn't deserve to live in the family compound, and they spread bad rumors about our family every day."

Tang Yue's expression turned cold and serious. She turned to look at Sun Jinan, "Uncle Sun, what's wrong? Is this house a temporary lodging provided by the military?"

Sun Jinan...

He didn't know either. He had this feeling that the division commander meant the house was allocated to their family.

"Um, this should be allocated to your family, Xiaoyueyue, right?"

Tang Yue narrowed her eyes slightly. "Uncle Sun, who brought my mother and the others here?"

"It's Battalion Commander Chang."

"Where is Uncle Chang?"

"He went out on a mission."

Tang Yue ignored her, "Mom, this house was allocated to us by the military, so you don't need to worry. From now on, this will be our home. Let's settle down here."

"This? Yueyue, is this true? Can we really live here forever?" Lin Cuicui's voice was filled with disbelief.

To be honest, she had never lived in such a nice house in her entire life. After staying here for a few days, Lin Cuicui was extremely satisfied; even those gossipy women didn't seem so annoying anymore.

“Of course it’s true, Mom. Let’s stay here without worry.” Tang Yue held Lin Cuicui’s hand. “Mom, I just got back. Can you show me around our house?”
