Chapter 475 I Saw My Dad

475

Looking at his sons and daughters fighting valiantly on the battlefield, Tang Shengkai felt as if something was choking him, his eyes reddened, and his fingers unconsciously clenched and unclenched.

His sons fought bravely amidst gunfire, and his daughter Tang Yue intimidated the enemy like a goddess descending to earth. But he could only hide in the shadows, unable to go forward and acknowledge her. His heart was filled with indescribable bitterness and pride.

"Old Tang, run!" Chang Yin's voice was urgent as he grabbed Tang Shengkai's arm. At that moment, Tang Yue's bombs exploded one after another not far away, the rising flames illuminating everyone's faces, and the American soldiers scattered in panic.

Chang Yin pulled Tang Shengkai and Fei Shuwen into the chaotic crowd, running with the flow of people while cautiously observing their surroundings.

Tang Shengkai staggered, turning back with deep reluctance, his eyes filled with concern for his children. "I... am I just leaving like this?" His voice was hoarse, brimming with reluctance.

Fei Shuwen whispered words of comfort to Lao Tang, "Old Tang, now is not the time. We have more important tasks to complete! They will understand."

Chang Yin couldn't reveal himself; the information he received indicated the satellite was at Base 5. Since he'd already done it, he had to see it through. Therefore, now was definitely not the time to acknowledge each other.

He ran while pulling the two of them along, searching for an opportunity to make eye contact with Tang Yue. Finally, in the flash of another bomb exploding, his gaze briefly met Tang Yue's.

Chang Yin's expression was serious. He moved his lips rapidly, clearly uttering the words "Base No. 5" before quickly disappearing into the chaotic crowd.

Tang Yue keenly caught Chang Yin's lip movements and her heart skipped a beat. She knew that these four simple words must contain an important clue.

Taking advantage of the moment when the US troops were temporarily suppressed, she quickly approached Tang Bei and Tang Dong. Without using other abilities, Tang Yue could not capture all of these US troops.

Tang Yue grabbed the two men and ran. They ran for several miles before stopping at a secluded rocky beach. "Big brother, third brother, I just saw the battalion commander and Dad."

On the rocky beach, the yellow river water flowed downstream, and even the torrential rain couldn't affect Tang Yue's voice. Her words, "Big brother, third brother, I just saw the battalion commander and Dad," sounded exceptionally clear.

The air seemed to freeze the moment Tang Yue finished speaking.

Tang Bei's hand holding the gun trembled slightly, his knuckles turning white from the force. He stared blankly at his sister, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, but he couldn't utter a sound.

Tang Dong's eyes instantly reddened. He took a step forward and asked urgently, "Little sister, you... are you telling the truth? Dad is really still alive? You really saw him just now?"

Tang Yue nodded vigorously, her eyes welling up with tears. The painful memories of believing she had lost her father were now intertwined with the shock of just seeing him. Although she had always firmly believed that her father was not dead, and had even confirmed the existence of his body.

But that was her biological father, the one who brought her into this world. Her loving and protective father. How could she not be moved at all when she heard the news of his sacrifice?

In the end, she was just an ordinary person. How could she be indifferent to her father's death? Suppressing the turmoil in her heart, Tang Yue nodded in confirmation and continued speaking.

"Just now on the battlefield, I saw my father with Battalion Commander Chang and Political Commissar Fei Shuwen. They retreated by mixing with the American troops."

Dad... He looks much thinner and doesn't look well, but overall he seems to be alright.

Her soft voice was tinged with a sob, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from the deepest part of her heart.

Tang Bei slowly squatted down, covering his face with his hands, his shoulders trembling slightly. He remembered the day he learned of his father's "sacrifice," how he had held back his tears and vowed in his heart to avenge his father, carrying this belief as he stepped onto the battlefield.

Now, this belief that had sustained him for so long had changed in such an unexpected way. They had never believed their father was dead. But that was just an excuse they gave themselves. The place in their hearts that had collapsed was something they couldn't tell anyone.

“So Dad has been fighting all along in places we didn’t know…” His voice was low and hoarse, filled with self-reproach and regret. “Just now, I didn’t even recognize him…”

Tang Dong silently wiped away his tears, memories flooding back. When he was little, his father would always carry him and his brother on his shoulders, taking them hunting in the mountains and teaching them to ride donkeys and shoot slingshots.

Later, as those memories became clearer, Tang Dong's state of mind continued to change. "I thought I would never see my father again..." Tang Dong murmured to himself, tears streaming down his face, dripping onto his mud-stained clothes.

Tang Yue walked to her two older brothers and gently hugged them. "Brothers, Dad is still alive. This is the best news for us."

Although we can't acknowledge him yet, just knowing that he's safe gives us motivation, doesn't it?

"We must drive the American troops out of this land as soon as possible. Once everything here is over, our family can be reunited." Her voice was firm yet warm, like the warm sun in winter, instantly dispelling the gloom that had shrouded the three siblings' hearts.

Tang Bei raised his head, hope rekindling in his eyes. He wiped away his tears, looked at his two younger siblings, and said solemnly, "My little sister is right."

We are Dad's children, and we must fight alongside him. Sister, did you receive any news just now?

Tang Yue lowered her eyes and thought for a moment. Her three older brothers had all come to the battlefield, and even though they had found their father, it was impossible for them to return to China. Rather than that, she decided to tell them everything.
