With a sharp crack, the whip lashed across the back of an elderly man with white hair. He stumbled and nearly fell against the pit wall, a bloody welt instantly spreading across his body.
The old man gritted his teeth, enduring the pain, and shakily picked up his tools to continue working.
"Hurry up, all of you! Stop dawdling, do you want to die?" A burly American soldier roared viciously, his eyes filled with disdain and cruelty.
